BA I did see you started posting again on the last thread but I forgot saying welcome back! Sorry about that ... Isn't it fun coming back after a long time of being away? Still feels like home.
Thanks for the wishes! It really was a nice Independence Day. As I've said BBQ with family (mostly) and a lot of food (but then what else is new in Judaism).

That's cool that you're baking your own food now. My sister always begs my mom to do it... She does it once in a while but not to much. It seems like a lot of hassle.... In Judaism there are way to many stuff you have to do while baking so it's just a lot of work.... but if you can bake it all alone and save a little money while at it then to you!

Sorry about all of the back pains! That's never fun. I'm happy to hear you're feeling better there. And Making babies's always fun. Good luck!

about lusing all that wight! That must be so much fun to have that... That's like half way throgh!

And Happy 4 years Anniversary!

And the cats sound sweet! Now that's cool you guys named them after sodas! I would have never get that one!

ML, wow! 29 year! I don't even know what it's like to be with someone else 29 days not to mention years!

Your guys are losing their jobs? What? When did that happen? I remember you saying that it probebly will happen but it actually did? I hope You guys will be ok.... Mr ML Jr. will probebly find something soon but Mr. ML will probebly have problms....

Wen, Congrats on Lainie Graduating... yet one more thing I've missed along the way....

And that's great that you're not with Satan Jr. any more! Could you imagine if you were?

My sister is having th Israeli SAT's tomarrow... and she's haing her break now.... and me being the great sister that I am I'll just let her sit and play on the computer for a litle while.....

VB that's terrible that your computer died! And great your neighbor brought it back to life, even for a little while. Sometimes the problem is with the fan not working and the computer overheating. Worst is when the hard drive gets fried. We had that happen before. Not that I know about computers that much! LOL! At least the price of computers has come down a lot.

The on/off button for our monitor is jammed/not working, so now we have to unplug the computer to shut it off! A hassle, but saves electricity. One of these days, we'll get a new monitor (and maybe a new computer -but I have so many pictures on my hard drive!! All pix of Jason, of course...

Good luck to your sister with the SAT tests! And Happy 60th birthday again to your country.

LOL, yes almost 30 years is pretty mindboggling, but it just goes by so fast you hardly notice it!

Poor Poddy! I have heard that a bad sprained ankle is worse than breaking it. Very cool you got orthopod-relative-by phone treatment. Who knew that about pressing the bone to tell? Mr ML has sprained his ankle a lot, with all his basketball playing - it turns a rainbow of colors as it gets better too. Very impressive.

I have still never been to Ikea! They were going to put one in my town, but there were delays, so they put one in a town in the south shore instead - We have to go there. My sister in law furnished her son's apartment in New York from that store. Although I have to say, the stuff in their catalog doesn't really appeal to me that much. Guess Swedish-modern isn't really my style.

I just don't get that this Muslim dad in Iraq stomped his daughter to death because she spoke to/flirted with an English soldier. This 'honor killing' stuff is incomprehensible to me. It's like if a woman is raped, they lock her up in jail because it has to be her fault, and even if it's not her fault, it embarrassed her family! sigh. It's truly another world. I wish that poor girl had run away to the UK with that soldier and she would still be alive.

Haven't had any more word about Mrs Boss or her mother yet - but she wasn't at work bright and early this morning as usual, and that's a bad sign. Her secretary just got back from vacation this morning and I just told her the news - she hadn't even heard yet! sigh. Oh well... better get cracking!

Oh, MLette saw online that "New Amsterdam" is definitely cancelled. I had a feeling (since they sort of cancelled it even before they released the show!) Too bad, it was a good one. The good ones always 'die young', eh!

good morning(afternoon) cuteness.......

Hi vB good to see you.....glad your poor old computer finally limped back on yay...... Hope it hangs in till you get done with your resumes. So baking is more complicated for you guys even when it isn't Passover? Do you still have to do special stuff regarding the yeast? You are the best big sister Best wishes to your sister ...hope she passes with flying colors.

Back to the elevator story.........they have one at that restaurant that goes from the parking garage up through their kitchen and to the second dining room so the guy that escorted us said he had done the same for Laura Bush twice and Condi Rice once.....with Laura he said the secret service men told him to face forward and not look at her.....he didn't seemed thrilled with that order but it must get old always having to be "on" every minute. So I got the "first lady" treatment .....makes a good mothers day story anyway ......as I said to Liz as she was helping me walk....slowly....a little flash forward to our future a little sobering actually but it sweet......Emily had left a card and present at Lizs from when she had just been there so I opened hers while I was on the phone and Liz gave me some dishes from a small set of old beautiful ones I have from my mom...she went to Ebay and found some so now we can actually use these for a holiday sometime ...very thoughtful.

I wonder if anyone is around.....think I'll check

I hadn't heard that one, that's absolutely the most hateful thing I could ever imagine doing to another human being, let alone your own daughter. There's gotta be a special place in H-E-double hockeysticks for that monster. I don't get it either, and I hope that I never, ever do understand it.

ML - I hope Mrs. Boss's mother improves too, poor lady.

Mr. ML Jr. did well for you on Mother's Day, that's wonderful! I hope this orchid thrives like your other one.

Too bad about New Amsterdam, I liked it too. I just don't think the networks give new shows ample time to gather a following or for buzz about a show to get around. New Amsterdam was the kind of show that you really could jump into and catch up on and not have to be a follower from day one (like Lost or Heroes). Sort of like Ghost Whisperer, it's usually on in our house while we're eating dinner and cleaning up the dishes, so it's just on for background noise for the most part. But I still enjoy the show. Loved Moonlight, but I couldn't follow it completely as I was interrupted numerous times by hubby who loves to talk during tv shows. I need to watch my dvr now.

Podmom - wow, sorry about your ankle! I've heard too that sprains are sometimes worse than breaks. My hubby sprained his really badly once playing volleyball and ML's right, it turned spectacular shades of colors and ballooned up like a softball! I hope you're soon on the mend, so take it really easy. You might want to get one of those air splints if you can find one, it might make it more stable while it heals so you don't re-injure it.

Wen - I don't understand your bro and SIL and why they get jealous over nice gifts you give their children. They should be HAPPY! My sister's a very good gift giver, she really thinks about what she's giving, and she usually gets my son really good gifts and I'm always excited to see what she's cooked up for him. So it just doesn't seem right that they should be jealous of you when their kid's getting a great gift (or 25!). But that's the nature of people sometimes.

We've had such a huge amount of rain lately, we had three inches of rain overnight and it's still raining buckets. I haven't seen such rain in years and for so long. It's completely soggy here.

My son and hubby (and Hazel!) got me a gift certificate for a nice spa for any treatment I want and took me out to dinner last night at a fine French restaurant. We've been going there for years and we know the owners (they really are French!) and they're wonderful people. So we go there for special occasions usually, like Mother's Day! it was so nice (but RAINY!).

Ok... so my sister decided she had enough of studting... and honestly I can't say I blam her.

So... where was I?

Scottie, you are so right about that Jason Castro(sp?)! I was like begging for him to come off that show! The last few weeks were terrible really! You're right the moment the audience starts voting a lot of the times it's not about who singes the best but who's cuter....

Thanks for the "Uncle" reference! I really didn't know that.

Sorry to hear about the bad weather! Those tornados can't be much fun... even if they're not exactly where you're at (and I sure hope they won't get there!)

Wen, well you're a cool lady so I get your niece and nephew getting a long with you. Kinda wired about your bro' and SIL getting upset about that... I mean it's not that they love them (their parents) any less. There really isn't much sense in that.... but I guess they're not to logical those 2....

Well maybe you guys could give us some water if you have so much.... we are really are in drought condition. It has actually been that way for the last few years but it seems we'll have sirious problems this summer....

Yep! That's my mom! Strong and Independent! No doubt about it.

ML, happy to hear you had a nice fun Mother's Day!

Thing is almost any kind of food in the industrial/western world is bad for you in some way... tough but it's the way things are.... but the way I see it is that as long as you don't eat too much of anything you're cool. Don't eat junk food 6 times a week but maybe once a month. That way you get to enjoy everything.

I hope that Jury Duty won't get in the way of you meeting some cute boys! That would be suck if it did.

That was so sweet of Mr ML to leave a pot of tulips at his mom's grave.

I know I had a problem with the hard drive a while back and that same neighbor fixed it for us. He has been a huge help.... we would have probebly bought a new computer back then if it wasn't for him. Yea the prices are not to high but we have other problems. That Vista program is just a nusty one and we need to find a computer with out that program which will probebly be a hussle. Oh well you do what you've got to do...

That would be a loss if you ever change your computer at work. That's way I never kept pics on my work computer when I was working.... I didn't want to lose anything.

Thanks for the wishes for my sister and my country.

I've never set foot in Ikea either. I have an uncle who basicly lives there. Everything he needs he gets there.... I guess if you find your-self there then it's nice... but in the size of that store.... that can't be too eazy.

I've stopped being shocked about stuff like that in the Islam a long time ago. And to think there are people who choose to be Islamic that is just wired.... but then I guess it's not the religioun that's the problem but the way people understand it's writings.... which either way doesn't make Islam very atractive to me... as a woman. It's like women never moved farword there.

I do hope you're boss's mom is ok... but then I guess when your time comes....

podmommy, sorry to hear about your twisted ankle! I do hope it's not too bad. Get well soon!

Well that's it for me. My sister is sitting near me trying to read everything I write... thank G-D she doesn't know English that well... not that I don't tell her everything anyway.
And she wants the computer again so I better go.

all

I know Scottie the rain and wind was impressive That was a nice mothers day gift....that the whole fam gave you. Is that the french restaurant around here that has the french flag outside and is decorated very french like....old france? I was there once and really enjoyed what I got.

Seems that is the face of evil .....the thing that father did....it surfaces in different ways but evil is evil....beyond human....... but humans can be ruled by it Poor girl.

But thank the good Lord we can be ruled by the light too!

On a much lighter note I've had Blue Lagoon on to see the beautiful island scenery....I so remember seeing that in the theaters...that and THe Black Stalion were out pretty close together....pretty films....BS the best by far..

happy pic

Sorry I posted such a grim thing on a Monday morning. My little Metro newspaper - they have had the most shocking news on the front page lately! Stuff I don't even want to think about - that man with the girl in the cellar - that's like something from X Files!

Yes, my friend has a theory that periodically the Devil takes over something - like now he's taken over fundamentalist Islam, during WW2 it was Germany and the Hitler craziness - interesting theory. Islam is not a bad religionn, of course, it is how it is being interpreted and applied! sigh. All religions pretty much have wisdom and lead people to living a good life on a good path. But all of them can be perverted (oh yeh, Spanish Inquisition - the Devil again!) sigh.

Such a tiny baby kittie! Cuteness itself! Tiny baby anythings are just the cutest. I love that print ad of the puppie lying on his back in the purple flowers (?fabric softener, ? toilet paper) - forget for what but it's awwww-worthy.

LOL VB about the expressions - somebody on the Kyle board posted that the weather in Boston 'can turn on a dime' (talking about the convention here in July) and a poster from Switzerland wanted to know what that meant (change very quickly - although actually is has to do with having a small turning radius I think, to be able to change directions quickly? Oh well..).

It has been windy and chilly too and we had really hard rain on Friday - was just running in rivers down the street when I went home on Friday. We're getting the "April showers" in May, along with the "March wind"! Weather is all confused.

I've never seen Blue Lagoon or Black Stallion!! I should put those on my list with Netflix. Oh, I got my dad to sign up for Netflix, since he just got a DVD player and he found the movies at the library were old and the disks scratched up/didn't work very well. :>

VB are you talking about taking challah (little offering piece of dough) and burning it up in the oven with the blessing etc, when you bake bread? Or is it something more than that?

LOL with the 'technicolor ankle' - I think when it hits green and then yellow, it's almost healed up again. Poor Podmom! I know what you mean, looking forward to the old and hobbling days. My knee locks up if I sit too long and you should have seen me trying to get up and walk out of the movie theater yesterday!

I used to think it must be nice, when the kids were little, to get pushed everywhere in a stroller - but then I realized a 'stroller' for adults is a wheelchair! So not looking forward to them returning the favor. sigh.

I'd be curious just to visit an Ikea store once - plus they have a restaurant there and the food is supposed to be pretty interesting. They sell entire kitchens, too - It's a way to do a reno inexpensively. Oh well, we need new jobs for the guys at the moment, not more furniture!!

well here the ankle and I lay....watching the retro movie channel Liz has(I don't havr that) Just watched Julia now some Steve McQueen movie Junior Bonner is on...I've not seen that one.....I think I'll get my ankle wrap on pretty soon and clean up a bit....rest a bit then make the soup...it's actually been lovely to be alone doing nothing!! Not worth the ankle hasstle but a silver lining.

ML going to Ikea is really fun....they have lots of rooms set up so it is just fun to look...it is really big....it is kind of an event to go......they have lots and lots of fun little stuff to buy for way cheap so you can always come out with a little something..it's actually a fascinating place to go....check it out someday.

you'd like the Black Stalion alot the other one is ok....verypretty local and pretty ppl.

I got Viv netflix....I have to pic her movies...does your dad do the comp? She likes it alot(like the tivo...had to be talked into(made) to do it

Oh, Wen Moonlight hasn't officially been picked up yet. Variety says it looks good, but (darned) CBS doesn't announce it til May 14, 4 p.m. at the UPfronts. Ahh, happy memories of the WB upfronts and seeing Jason the first time in NYC!

Did I ever post this? Just found it not long ago - there were never any photos that came from that day at the Upfronts that I could find, but here I am (the glasses shining and white shirt/arms crossed behind Jason)

In the bad news department, Lifetime made if official that they are done with 'Blood Ties.' But that just opens up the possibility of another (nicer) network taking it on - like UPN did with Roswell after the evil WB kicked it around. sigh. I just really would like another season of that show (or 6). :p

Official also that 'New Amsterdam' is dead. Too bad with that one. Yet the stoopidest shows go on and on. I just dont get it (sadly shaking head smilie).

Yeh, my dad is pretty good with the computer (he went to MIT, but in his day, it was sliderules). I think he'll be able to figure out Netflix. Heck, he was able to install and figure out a DVD player!

I love furniture stores, so I probably would adore Ikea. We have this chain called Jordan Furniture - they have gorgeous rooms set up, plus stuff like IMax 3D theaters and restaurants and ice cream and fun stuff - one store has a trapeze school! It's a whole lot more than just buying furniture!

I am amazed at how efficient Netflix is run. I heard they are very secretive about their system too, nso no competitors steal it. I like that they ask when I mail stuff back, to do surveys on how fast they get things back, etc. Very well run outfit. Funny, I'm not thrilled with ordering pills by mail (even if it's cheaper), but movies by mail seems like a terrific idea! Esp if they pay the postage (which just went up to 42 cents a letter today, ladies!) But the 'forever stamps' - the bells - are still good.

Mrs Boss's Mum is still with us (in the hospital tho)

Hey all!
Had to deal with some ennoying anti-virus things this morning.... and it too way to long (well it happens when 3 people say they're putting you on hold and then hang up! ). Oh well I'm just happy that's over and that my computer is safe again.

podmommy, when we make bread we have to take into consideration the 'Hafrashat Challa', which ML explained short and to the point (thanks for that). Thing is you can't just do it on any amount of flour (or dough) and we have to make a huge amout of bread so we can do that... and my mom won't make bread and not do the 'Hafrashat Challa', so that's a nono for that. But then I really don't have anything aginst bought bread.

That's cool that you got that 1st lady tretment. And he was nice to you because he could actually look at you. Happy to hear you had a good mother's day.

I think I saw the Black Stalion at some point... it's sounds really familliar...

Well who said you can't get something good out of a twisted ankle? Laying all day long and watching movies doesn't sound that bad to me.

Scottie, happy to hear you had a great mother's day too! And you got a tretment at the spa! That sounds great!

ML, that devil theory is interesting but I don't really believe stuff like that. Sometimes people do bad even evil things and that's just the way it is. Blaming it on the devil is just a way of trying to understand that evil... and it's also diminishes from the act it-self. I mean it's like saying 'it's not those people's falt, it's the devil'. I say it's just people.... sad I know.
Ok so sorry for that way to serious moment ther....

Yea that's exactly waht I was talking about... but there's also the fact we have to clean the four (and a lot of it) and because if you want to say the blessing you have to make a big amout of dough it can take a lot of time.

So the Upfronts are tomarrow. You'll know for sure then. I really hope they picked it up.

I think I've seen this one. Cool that you're right there behind Jason. Waiting for him to turn around?

Sorry about Lifetime not picking up Blood Ties. I hope like you said that another network will pick it up.

I'm glad to hear your boss's mom is still around. I bet your boss is really happy about that.

all

Well if you like furniture stores you will like Ikea.....there must be one near you. Emily is gonna spend a week in Boston in July .....it's where the company headquarters is and they do all the training there of the new hires. I know that kittie ...too cute

up date....about the slide rule...just talked to him and he said they did have calculators back then so he didn't use the slide hardly at all in college...probably just trying to impress me with his .......btw ...you and I sure have been on the same tragectory....we'll be 29 yrs in July

Thanks vB on that bread enlightening! I guess the up side would be that you have lots of bread to freeze. Just a response ..quickly.. on the nature of evil......of course since I have faith in G-d and through His scripture there is alot regarding Satan I have given this much thought(since of course the biggest hurdle ussually in beginning the belie of Christian faith is the reality of hell and Satan and suffering etc....and how can a good G-d allow it etc) Doing evil is a choice....just like doing good is a choice.....so one is responsible for the evil one does....."the devil made me do it" is not a deffense ever.....and consequences will apply{to us all... believer or non if we sin.....temporally and eternally} we are made in His image(ie self aware and able to choose and create) hence the struggle between good and evil evident all around us as well as within ourselves daily. gingerly getting down from the soap box given the twisted ankle and all......hope poor spelling isn't a sin

another silver lining to sprain.....I discovered a book here of JRR Tolkiens letters....fascinating!!! I'm taking that home to finish......excellent!!!

So I'm realizing that this weekend is Ems graduation...this is really going to stink on such a huge campus....going to see if my big bum will fit into Jans folding wheel chair such a drag. Hoping the drive home isn't too painful...I think it will be ok...just all the walking down the long appt hall and the loft stairs podad said he'd happily come on the train and drive me and the van back but thats such a drag...I'm feeling like it will be ok....but that's what I'll be up to today. Made them my cream of chicken soup yesterday.....going to make chicken salad from the rest...tidy up then hobble home.

everyone.....will check in during my foot up breaks
