morning JOFs

ML Happy Monday ......bummer about Tatooist.....jeesh,it is disheartening... I think the answer for Jason is TV(it would be a good answer for us too ) I don't know ifI'll bother with that one either by the sound of it. I'm not into the naked love scene stuff(I like subtle and lovely like Max and Liz) so sounds like not much else positive there. Makes me really hope Frost will be out on DVD.....do you think it will come out soon?

Scottie if you stop by from work,vB wishing you a good work day Wen,BBW and anyone else that stops by

Oh there's also a shot of his bare butt, standing in a room looking out the window! I forgot that - MLette was embarrassed and ready to leave then! LOL! It really didn't have anything to do with the story so - I guess that would be 'gratuitous nudity'? Maybe having his bare butt in his films is his new trademark or something...

Just stopping by before quitting time - pesky computer at work keeps crashing and rebooting itself. Endlessly annoying - finally put in a service call to the I.T. guys. Hope they can fix it. Hope the problem isn't too many pictures of Jason in my hard drive.

Just as I put in a disk to format (takes 25-30 min) the computer fixing guy showed up! He's coming back in, oh, 25-30 minutes and probably going to destroy my computer. I have no confidence in these guys actually knowing what they're doing, as they could never solve the problem this computer had with the floppy drive (which is why I had to switch over to these annoying disks, which are now also giving me trouble).

The weather is either so nice, everybody is outside, or so bad, everybody is too hot to even go to their computers! Here, it's nice.

* * *

I just found out JumpCon is cancelled - all of them!!! The scifi convention that was happening this weekend! The whole affair collapsed like a house of cards. I was always suspicious about how ambitious their schedule/roster of guests was, for a brand new convention - well, I was right. They didn't have the money to pay the actors, give them plane far - nada. It's disappointing for me, but my heart goes out for the gals coming from Europe, other states, etc.

They promise they'll refund all the money - but I'll believe that when I see it.

No Kyle! No Dylan! No pix and meals with the stars. Boy, makes me even gladder I hopped a plane and went to MegaCon in March and saw them.

Aww MyrnaLynne, I'm so sorry to hear that JumpCon got cancelled. How very disappointing. But like you said, it's a good thing that you did get to see them in Florida... that's the upside!

Did the techs ever get your computer fixed? I sure hope so! Nothing worse than a broken computer when you have work to do.

Sorry to be so MIA, just R/L stuff getting in the way of things that's prevented me from coming here to La La land.

I have to take MOTHER to the Dr's this aft, and the cable guy is coming this morning to switch me over to Comcast.

I'm getting the whole deal...telephone, cable, and internet all thru them for a nice savings per month. Only bad thing is that I'll have to change my Email addy. That's going to be a pain.

Anyway, I'll be without a computer for a while this morning till the cable guy gets me all hooked up. They said their service is 8 times faster than what I have now... that'll be nice. Right now I have DSL, but I'm not sure what they have, but I'm sure he'll explain it to me.

Hope Everyone is having a Great Day!

Hugs,
Wen

Congrats on the new Comcast all-in-one service, Wen! We have that with RCN. Comcast keeps trying to get us to switch over, though. Why change if you like what you have?

Hope the switch-over goes smoothly. Yes, the computer guy came back, and backed up all my stuff, and then he came back later with this young girl (2nd string repair person) to do the actual fixing and left here there, and when I got back from lunch she was whining on the phone with him and had no idea what she did wrong or why it wasn't working! Took her til nearly 3 p.m. to get it going again, with repeated calls to the other guy. sigh! But I sat there and edited 3 papers while I waited, so it was actually a pretty productive afternoon, but I didn't get the stuff I needed to type done. So - fingers crossed - the computter will behave itself again. It was headed for a major brain-meltdown before they came to service it!

LOL, now that JumpCon is cancelled, I'm sort of looking forward to Jury Duty this week. I'll find out this afternoon if I have to go or not.

And since I'm not doing JumpCon (sigh) I'm wearing the new skirt I bought for that occasion to work today and it's very pretty and comfy (crinkly lined cotton voile with red floral on white - also am getting a similar one in blue and white, but it was backordered). Nice to have new summer cool stuff to wear.

I've been searching years for cool summer dresses without luck, keep wearing the old old gauzy numbers (I bought 3 of them in different patterns, been wearing them wayyy too long). Only downside is, like the skirts, the dresses are long and I tend to roll them up in the wheels of my office chair at work! So maybe I'll give up on the quest for the cool dress and go with summer skirts instead. :>

Not only is just the Boston JumpCon cancelled - all of them are cancelled - not going to happen! This guy had such grandiose ambitious plans, was doing maybe 20 or 30 of them all over the country, something he'd never done before - didn't have the know-how or more likely didn't have the cash to back up all these plans. I figured with the number of guests he advertised were coming (more than 60!), he'd have to pay at least half a million dollars to them in fees, plane tickets, and lodging! I'm so disappointed I'm not going to see those cute guys again.

But at least I don't have to worry about my hair or how fat I'm getting or the big blemish I'm getting on my face. And "we'll always have Orlando"

Oh, and guess what - I DO have to report for Jury Duty tomorrow.. never rains but it pours. Oh well, it's a day off work - but a really boring one.

Oh wow! Thanks Podmom and Wen! that's so sweet of you two!

And Podmom, how did you know what I wished for!? Lovely pics of Jason, just what I wanted. Hugs!

Been floating around, catching up on work, not feeling all so great but doing the W thing anyway. Went scrapbooking last night, coughed all during scrapping, went to exercise anyway, coughed all during class. I need to lay down for a while!

We're having a screen porch put on the side of our house (I'm so tired of mosquito bites that I need to enclose myself while I'm outside!) and last night one of the guys shot himself in the hand with one of those nail guns! My husband had to take it out, too! He (construction guy) didn't have a first aid kit and he hadn't had a tetanus shot. So my hubby took care of him (I wasn't home). Sent him home with neosporin, band aids and some alcohol (due to no tetanus shot) to put on the wound. It was a clean nail, but his hands were dirty, so he could get an infection if it wasn't properly cleaned.

ML - so sorry about Jumpcon! Cries for you!

Gotta scoot. I'm not kidding that I've been busy! Thanks for the birthday wishes and I promise to catch up with my JOF and JIT buddies soon!

Hey all!!!

I missed you guys…

Looks like I'm just on time for the party!

Scottie!
I hope you'll have a wonderful day celebrating it with your family and friends! Have a great one!

My 1st week at my work is finally over! It was pretty exhausting. I'm still getting used to everything and learning how to do things… there are definitely a few issues in that office. Like today my boss actually asked me to vacuum!!! I was so socked that I've said ok and later I just felt bad! I told him later that there's no way I'm doing it again! I mean I'm a secretary and not the cleaning lady! It was so weird that he asked me to do it (and actually expected me to do it every other week! NO WAY!!!
Other then that the secretary who was supposed to teach me everything left on Tuesday (after I was told that she'll be there at least another week), which was weird… but I was pretty happy about it. She didn't really teach me all that much (she was too busy with her FaceBook to do that), she taught me the basics and I guess that was almost everything I needed. Anyway there's another secretary there (on a part-time job) and for now she will keep helping to get into things. If there is one thing I noticed it's that those people are not very organized… if they would have a cleaning lady and they would make sure to get a new secretary BEFORE the old one left (and no! 3 days is not enough!!).

There I got that one out… and I didn't even get to the fact the don't have a computerized system for letters and fax's going out…. But I really don't want to overload you guys….

ML, sorry to hear you didn't get to see The Tattooist. Don't you just wish you could send everyone around the house away for a little while?

Thanks for the kind word! I knew all of that but it's hard being logical when you're nervous. I got most of the things down but now that the other secretary left the bosses don't really let me do anything on my own… which is annoying because they over react sometimes! I mean explaining how to send a FAX? Sometimes I think they're not of this earth (and not in a good why… like Max.)

I am definitely grateful for the fact we 'have' to clean the apartment every week. I know our place would look horrible if we didn't have that 'push' to clean the place every week.
And about matching me with Mr. ML Jr., I think there are bigger things to worry about then the fact he's not religious enough… Oh I don't know… something like distance?

Glad to hear you saw The Tattooist… even if it was disturbing. Well it is an horror movie so that makes sense… I wonder how this movie is really like… maybe I'll get to see it some time.

Well I do know a few people who won't mind seeing Jason's butt on a movie. But honestly I don't think nudity is really helping the story-line. Never! The directors or produces only say that because it's something that's considered normal… why I really don't get why but it is. I actually believe nudity can ruin a movie but I guess the people making the movies don't think that….

I'm so sorry JumpCon was cancelled! That's just annoying! Waiting for something and then finding out that it's all gone. And the woman coming from out of the country! That will be a big disappointment for them. I do hope you'll get a refund.

I hope you're computer is ok by now.

BBW, I love buying shoes too… Sometimes I really have to stop myself from buying a certain shoe because I know I will never wear them (un comfortable or any other reason) but it's soooo hard!

podmommy, I have to agree with you about subtle love scene. Whenever I see those nude scenes it's like pulling out of the movie and then I have to start getting into it all over again. Subtle can be hot and that's something those people in Hollywood don't really get…
And Yea… Jason on TV would be a great thing! Definitely better then waiting so long for something and then not really getting it or liking it.

And thank you for wishing me a good day on Monday! I'm so happy this week is over and I don't have to work tomorrow so that's great!

Wen, sorry to hear RL is being… well RL… nothing to do about that… Good luck with your new cable! I hope they'll be good. You know my mom has finally decided to upgrade our cable! There are a lot of channels we don't get to see now but as of Wednesday next week that won't be a problem any more!

Well I can't believe it but I'm actually done. I thought this would take much longer…

all

Okay, so I just went to the last page and have a couple of comments!

VB - I saw that you got a job! Congratulations, sweetie!!! I hope you love it, even if it isn't your dream job. Like you said, it's a paycheck.

ML - I've been carrying around that EW mag for days now and just hadn't had the opportunity to actually read much of the article. I know what you mean about casting, that girl looks nothing like "my" Bella! And Edward? Um....no...nothing like "my" Edward! I actually gasped when I opened up the mailbox and saw the EW with Twilight on the cover and I immediately thought "ML's gonna love this!"

okay...off again...

now VB's sneaked in on me! Thanks for the b-day wishes, VB! So agree with everyone about nudity in movies, it makes me so uncomfortable. Anyone see A History of Violence? Nuff said about bare butts!

No, I wasn't working, Podmon I had Jury Duty! But actually I was working, because I brought 2 manuscripts with me and edited them while I was sitting there waiting for the first couple of hours. I lucked out - they sent us all home at 11:30 a.m. (shh don't tell the Boss! LOL!). So I don't have to do jury duty again for 3 years! My civic duty is done! Yay!

I walked over to the mall and looked at new fridges and washing machines at Sears and ate lunch at the food court, looked at how ugly the clothes at Lane Bryant are (just because you're fat doesn't mean you should have ugly clothes). Or maybe styles in general right now are really hideous.

It's HOT here too, supposed to be 90s for the next couple of days and more humid! YUK! Just in time for those poor Blood Ties fan gals to come visit Boston (and die from the heat). So I got home just in time to walk the dog in the broiling noonday sun - but I turned on the AC in our 'cool room' first, so I could cool off when we got back. Stayed in there the rest of the day.

I watched the commentary for the 'Tattooist' - Jason talked about what a weird job he has and the love scenes being the weirdest part of it. Mentioned how he was an 'engaged man' during the filming and had to rush home to LA to 'get hitched' to KaDee right afterward (or he would have hung out in New Zealand and toured around more but he had a Prior Big Commitment - the biggest commitment of all! :> (my words, not his, - he just said "get hitched".) Loved listening to him talk, always love that. Movie wasn't so bad the 2nd time because I knew what not to look at and they were discussing the technical aspects of it etc and that takes you out of the story.

I watched the deleted scenes and there is one where his eyes are just gorgeous. LOL, they also talked about becoming Samoan chiefs (he and the director) and the were both really chuffed about it and he said the same thing I did, about him being the skinniest, palest Samoan chief they probably ever had (giggle).

Also watched the 'extra stuff' to TransAmerica - a movie I bought with 'Brokeback Mountain' and then never watched - didn't watch BBM until Heath Ledger died and I figured, well, it was time to watch that. TransAmerica looks good and I like Kevin Zegers. Watched all the extra stuff and next I'll watch the movie itself.

That's too bad VB that the new job is so disorganized - maybe you can get them organized! But no vacuuming! It's like when they want me to make coffee - I don't drink coffee (one of the few humans on earth who don't) and I have no idea how to make it, so I'll make you coffee, but it's going to turn out yucky!
Anyway, that's pretty brave to stand up to the new boss the first week - don't let them get into any bad habits! I had a boss who wanted me to run errands for him on my way home, after I finished work! I explained to him that my time with him ended when I left and if he wanted to send me to the bank, etc, I'd be happy to go - during work time. What a doofus that guy was!

I didn't save any money by JumpCon being cancelled because we had to pay for everything in advance. They have our money, we have no convention. I wrote to the NH attorney-general's office about it, because that's where he's located. They swear they'll pay us back but I am doubtful, I'm sure they spent our money already on stuff that didn't work out.

About 6 of the Blood Ties folks are coming to Boston (or live here anyway) and are getting together but I'm not that keen on going to do stuff with them - especially if it's going to be in the 90s!! But I suppose I ought to be friendly. But I'm not that friendly... I don't really know these people. They aren't like Roswell fans, after all, I've only 'known' them a couple of months.

Envying your beach day Poddy it sounds like heaven!

Scotty ICK about the nail gun accident!! That guy better go get a tetanus shot. Infections are nothing to mess around with (says the person who works in Infectious Diseases). My boss did an expert report on a guy who shot himself in the leg accidentally () and it wasn't the shot that did the damage, it was the germs from the junk the bullet shot into his leg that caused a bad infection. Anyway, Mr Scottie was quite a good samaritan to patch the poor guy up. Nail guns - scary!!!

Screened porch sounds great though - I can't stand the sitting out with mosquito thing either. Poor MLette is especially sweet (like Bella :>), the mosquitos love her.

LOL, yes, MLette saw the EW cover and she called me up at work to tell me it was there, because she knew I'd be so happy to see it! LOL! She was excited because she knew I'd be excited. Doesn't hold a candle to Jason's 'Life' magazine Roswell cover - oh gosh, I practically drooled on that one all over the store - couldn't take myeyes off it. This movie Bella and Edward - meh! As you say, not how I imagine them at all. Although they did the pale makeup pretty nicely for the cover on EW on Robert Pattinson. He's odd looking enough to be a vampire, I think. Just not handsome enough to be Edward, in my book. :>

Oh, where's my manners? HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SCOTTIE

My Swiss boss's birthday is coming up next week (he's turning 50) - he's such a great guy.

Hey all!!

2 days in a raw! Had a very good night sleep and I'm ready to move on.

Scottie, sorry for sneaking up on you. I hope you're feeling much better by now and that you've had a good time on your birthday.

The construction guy shot his hand with a nail gun? Don't they know they should be careful with that? Well I hope he's ok and that you will have your screen your porch soon.

podmommy, thanks for saying that! I'm proud of myself too. I usually would have said nothing and just do it. Even though he started the vacuum conversation (I would have talked to him about it eventually) I still told him that I felt uncomfortable about it. Now I just have to check with the part-time secretary what she has to say about that… Still I'm extremely proud of myself too.
And I don't really think it has anything to do with hutzpha. When I took the job he mentioned washing the dishes(sp? I always have a problem with this one… ) and that's that. I got that and understood that one. But vacuum? It would be like telling me to wash the floors! Show me where a woman hired as a secretary does that one? So it has a lot to do with taking a stand and nothing to do with hutzpha… in my opinion… and he did ask.

Your day sounded wonderful! So relaxing…

ML, glad to hear they told you to leave at 11:30! That's so much fun to have a day off like that. And your secret's safe with us.

That's the best part of getting one of Jason's DVD is the bts stuff and hearing him talk about it. It's like a window to the real Jason which is always great!

I wouldn't really mind making coffee either… it's not that complicated over here, so it would have been ok… but the vacuuming thing shocked the hell out of me! If they'll tell me to go and wash the toilets I'm going to scream (because if there's no cleaning lady I guess they will ask me….) and there's no way I'll be doing that!
That was some nerve of your boss to ask you to make arrangements for him after you left! That's great you stood up for him! I wouldn't agree to that either! No way!
And it's not that he's a doofus. It's that he was trying to use you for a while there. Which is just wrong!

I hope you'll get you money back… but you're right. Not a big chance of that happening… I mean most chances they used the money to get the convention going… while it was still going…

Well I guess I should look around for something to do… it is Friday after all.

all
