How did the bat viewing go keepsmiling?

Yes that is good practice ML. How did it feel

I am SO happy to hear Wen is healed!!

I'm off to OC finally. I still haven't swam this year. I will take my computer with me. About to pack it up now. Podad staying home cause we have some Amish replacing half our roof. Feels a bit like Witness here today

My friend Katie is coming wed-thru Thursday then podad and maybe Liz coming for the weekend. Lending the OC house the next week starting Sunday to Liz's friend Abi.....the one with cancer that has the 2 young kids. I had linked one of those raise money sites for her a couple years ago. Unfortunately the cancer went to her lungs...now brain. I am still praying hard for a miracle. Any prayers for her would be appreciated. I'm glad I will be there to welcome them and leave goodies and flowers etc to make the place nice. Such a hard thing to even think about....leaving a 5 and 7 yr old....I so hope a miracle happens.

I can't believe you haven't been in the water yet PodMom you love it so much! Glad you are going to the OC. I saw people on Househunters buying a place there the other day and thought of you. So many fun things to do.

You are so good to help that poor woman with the (spreading) cancer - oy oy oy. Prayers for a miracle!

Things are good with Dad - he decided not to have the invasive tests the GI guys wanted to do, since thing seemed to heal up themselves off the blood thinners. He talked to a lot of doctors and the tests were just too risky at his age, so he decided no. They are getting him back to a regular diet and adjusting his meds (making sure stuff is going in and out as it's supposed to - ahem) and then in another day or so, he can go home. And they are offering him all sorts of wellness supports, meal deliveries, helpers. Very promising. He sounds very strong and hearty and still in charge of his own choices. I don't know if my brother is still going to go down there or not.

We went to my nephew's house in the country Saturday for a family party - it was a small party - the four of us (with John) were half the guests! Aside from avoiding mosquitoes and ticks and trying to keep my chair out of the sun, it was a very nice day. All that fresh country air and being outside wore me out! They bought a big old farmhouse and attached barn and have been working very hard to fix it up. Michael my nephew got 6 chickens - so cute, and they planted a vegetable garden, and discovered a lot of berry bushes and an old pear tree on the property - a little bit of country paradise! They (Michael, his girlfriend, and girlfriend's teenage daughter) seem very happy. This nephew is a little younger than my son. (and seems happier - ahem)

ML I'm glad dad is making good decisions and getting better. Sounds like you don't need to go down now ?

I know I can't believe it either 😕 Hopefully tomorrow. I'm relaxing all by myself tonight... gonna go weed a little then watch more TV 📺 and veg.

I packed up my computer then forgot ignore so have to post from my phone 😣

Your family party in the country sounded "mostly" fun 😉 Glad it went well 🐥

ML.......good news regarding your dad. It's nice that you didn't have to make a rushed trip down to FL.

PODMOM.......and you're now relaxing at your favorite OC. Good for you. I will include the mother suffering from brain cancer in my prayers.

We had a wonderful weekend with my youngest son this past weekend. As it turned out, my daughter-in-law didn't get to come. Her mother is in the hospital in Dallas, getting ready to have more surgery. Rosemary had severe diabetes, and didn't take care of herself. These past couple of years she had to have toes amputated, then one leg up to the knee. With all of this surgery and being on her back, she got bed sores. Now the wound specialists are trying to get that cleared up before the infection reaches her bones. Her family is very upset that she brought so much of this on herself.

Oh dear keepsmiling, your poor daughter in law! So sad when diabetes takes such a toll on people. Awful disease. People think it's no big deal now that there's insulin to treat it, but it affects so many parts of the body. The husband of one of Tom's cousin's, Al (who lives upstairs from Aunt Millie); his mother had the same thing, the bad diabetes, the amputations etc. It's an awful way to go, bit by bit, like that. I'm glad you had a good time with your youngest son!

Dad sounds good - they are getting him back to solid food now (way too much food, according to him! pot pie, spaghetti etc) and once they are sure things are going in and coming out as they are supposed to (ahem) I guess he can go home. The GI doctors were very disappointed they couldn't poke around, but his heart doctor, etc were relieved at his decision! Still, every time the phone rings at home, I get worried it's going to be bad news about Dad.. But it's usually just an annoying salesman!

LOL, Poddy yes the party was mostly fun. The guys played horseshoes and frisbee (those metal horseshoes flying around always scares me! ) They have a beautiful grey cat with green eyes too, who was an indoor cat until they moved to the country and now she's outdoors hunting and stalking and slinking around as cats love to do. Enjoy the beach! Gosh, I haven't been to a beach in years and years. My family aren't 'beach people.' I've been watching so many episodes of 'Beach Front Bargain Hunt' on HGTV, makes me want to go to the shore!

They sent Dad home from the hospital the next day! He is all settled back in and they are sending him weekly meals for a month, too, which is very nice, although kid comes and shoves a bunch of mystery packages in the fridge and freezer, and they have directions of what meals to eat in what order, and which things go together - but none of the packages were labeled! Oh well, my Dad likes a good mystery to solve!

Wonderful weekend, as Saturday was ArtBeat and Mlette brought John and we could show him our Arts festival. We bought lunch (and dessert - baklava from the Greek ladies) and took it home and ate it. I bought a lovely pottery bowl, light green (like FB JB board background color). Just a plain utilitarian bowl, but nice. They had to leave early because John's family was having a big family party the same day, but I wasn't too sad, because we were seeing them the next day and meeting his parents!

We went up to their house and carpooled to miniature golf with his Mom. The Dad was up in NH fixing the daughter's house. We had great fun golfing, eating ice cream, admiring the cows (ice cream/golf place is working dairy farm). We went back to the house and were taking our leave when the Dad showed up, so we ended up sitting by the pool, eating cheese and crackers and sipping iced tea and having a nice (longer) visit.

John's family house is REALLY nice, a Victorian mansion (similar age to our old house, but a nicer house). Beautiful woodwork and paneling and built ins and such and big yard. And spotless! (We can NEVER have them over to our messy old place! ) Mom was very nice and a talker, so there was no lack of conversation. I think they will make excellent inlaws, should that come about.

My friend was so funny, she called his mother the 'EMIL' = 'Eventual Mother-in-Law" I liked that one! They love our daughter, we love their son - match made in Heaven.

Oh and the kids put in an application for that really nice apartment, sort of halfway between where they're both living now - I hope they get it, as Mlette has to be out of her place by August 1. I hope it works out!

PodMom very exciting the plans are coming together for the OC redo - and storage plans to move everything while the house is knocked down and put back up again. They should film it for HGTV

ML.........so you've met John's parents. Things must be moving along very well for these two young people. EMIL.......I like that. Before long you will probably be planning a wedding. We hope so since the relationship is working out so well.

Hi PODMOM and WEN. All is well here.

Glad you are going to the dentist before your teeth turn green and fall out PodMom

I told my Boss I'd met the parents and she said "When's the wedding?" and I said "Not yet/too soon!" (we're hoping!)

MLette came over yesterday and took our moving boxes and packing paper and box tape (left over from when I packed up/did over my kitchen, and I saved the boxes, 'just in case'). She has to move in 2 weeks!

They still don't know if they got the place or not yet; I hope so. I suppose if it falls through and they can't find a place in time, she can stay with John's family until they do find a place. But he lives on the top floor and it's like the top floor of our house - freezing in the winter, roasting in the summer! Plus she doesn't want to live with the EMIL (and EFIL), she wants her own place.

Gee, applying for an apartment nowadays is like filling out an application for college - they want to know everything and check up on you etc. I suppose people can't be too careful these days...

Dad said the food isn't bad, although one thing didn't meet his approval/he couldn't cut or chew it, so he threw it out and made himself a sandwich. He's getting a PT guy coming 3 times a week, and this week he has 5 doctor visits! He's been keeping very busy.

Mlette and John got the apartment. I'm very nervous about them moving as she seems very vague about the moving plan (is there one? Is anybody young and strong coming to help them?) Plus she and her apartment mate are in the old place until the weekend, and her friend has been packing everything up, even stuff they need to eat/cook before the moving day! I gave her some plastic silverware and cups to take home and eat with until moving day. I suggested she rent a truck; she doesn't think they'll need one/his Dad has a big enough vehicle (but I'm not so sure...) Oh well, trying very hard to be helpful/supportive while not butting in/telling her what to do!

ML.......it's so hard to step back and let the kids make their own mistakes at this point. I can only imagine this moving experience will be a steep learning curve for both of them. We all have such good ideas and suggestions, but the young ones don't seem to listen.
John's parents seem to be very supportive and accepting of MLettie, so she is very lucky.

I've loved watching my two older kids as they deal with their grown children and their moves. My granddaughter changed apartments every semester in college, so her dad loaded up his pick-up and moved her again. Think he was very happy when she got married and moved to Michigan. My daughter's family moved their youngest daughter from college to her first job in two days over 1500 miles.

Thinking of you PODMOM and WEN.
