Hey all!!!
Thursday again.... I can finally rest after doing that all day long.... well almost.

ML, well maybe poodles are smart and cute and all that but I still can't get myself to like that kind of dogs.... They just seem to royal-like for me and I just don't like that.....

Yea I'm proud of myself for still going to the gym... I have less then a year left for my subscription so I guess I see how much I'm going to stick to it when it'll be over and I'll have to sign in again...
Well you can't really make your-self to start again... but then thing is that I think in the beginning you have to.... so there's nothing to do really... other then make your self exercise.

Well my dad and mom got the Yiddish thing pined down since they had to get my grandma (especially my mom) so they did. But then there are my aunts who don't get a word of Yiddish so when my grandma talks to them she tries to talk Hebrew but angain she doesn't have a big vocabulary in Hebrew so they're pretty stuck.

About Diable Coddy (BTW that is some name ) and her shoes. I bet she was the only one over there who was actually comfortable. Maybe she'll start a new fashin.

Wen, you do know that you can tell your mom that you don't feel like it going shopping... especially if it's not something important and that can wait.... you do know that right? And if she starts complaining just ignor her! You have to prctice that one anyway. Especially with her.

Oh you definitely don't bore me with your pet stories! I love them!

Well it's not like my mom learned Yiddish... she was just raised with that language. She didn't really learn Hebrew untill she started Kindergarden. But then when I came along she talked to me Hebrew so I never really learned Yiddish... and then there's also the fact that I guess they were comfortable using Yiddish when they wanted to talk about things they didn't want us kids knowing about.
My sister is actually trying to learn Yiddish. She keeps asking everyone who talks Yiddish what they've just said... She doesn't know a whole lot but she notices some words... but then so do I....

Happy to hear that your eyes are good! I hope they stay like that!

I totally agree with podmommy! I mean, what about not-life-threathening things? It's good that they know it's not a life-threathening thing but what next? They can't just live you like this the rest of your life. I mean there should be something you can do other then just keep your legs up for the rest of your life....

podmommy, thanks.... but it's not that many languages... just Yiddish for all of the adolts.... and Hebrew for most (my grandma being the only one with issues with that one) and I'm the only one who speaks English this well.... and a litle French by now too! Totally proud at myself for that one!

Sorry about Viv blasting out the TV like that.... That's never nice. That's one thing grandma doesn't do... she keeps it pretty low.... even though she can't hear what they're saying. Maybe it's the fact that she doesn't understand what they're saying anyway.
I hope that IPod will help with the TV blasting.... just be carful not to damage you hearing like that....

Loved the dolphine kiss! So sweet and adorable!

mezz, yea I've hear of Natasha Bedingfield! She sings I wanna Have Your Babies... sweet song. IBut I've never really heard anything else by her. Thanks for the link! I'll check it out!

all

Wen - here's a link to the pug screensaver on YouTube, it's so cute. There are lots of pug videos on YT, I've been looking at them and they're adorable.

YouTube - Pug Puppy Screen Cleaner

So glad your eyes are okay! Now if we can just blink Mother to the cornfield, you might get a chance to rest your sore legs!

VB - I'm glad you've been going to the gym too! Good for you. I'm actually going to venture a little more into yoga than I have been lately, and do one of those Bikram yoga sessions (in 105 degree room!). I've scheduled a class for 10 am this Saturday. I'm intrigued by it, but still a little hesitant. I'm not crazy about heat, but everyone who's taken Bikram yoga classes say they detox the body and are wonderful. I guess we'll see!

My dad won't wear a hearing aid either and trying to watch tv with him is torture. It's excrutiatingly loud. You could hear it down the block, I swear if you were standing outside his house you could hear the tv.

ML - I'm glad you've been talking to some of the Blood Ties fans, at least you'll get to meet them and if you don't like them, you're not locked onto them or anything. You can go your own way.

I loved Armageddon too, and I loved the song and the guy with the pretty daughter sang it really good! LOL! That was my fave movie with Ben Affleck in it, he was adorable in it. Loved BW chasing him all around the oil rig, that was so funny. And Steve Buscemi was great in the movie.

And yep, Devon Gummersall played Sean, Maria's cousin, in Roswell. The Sean I loved to hate! He and Majandra did get married (like VB said already) and boy was I surprised! I hope they have a very happy marriage. He was so young in Independence Day, he must've been like 16 years old. He had really curly skater-boy hair in ID, very weird!

Podmom - love the dolphin kisses, that was so cute! See above for commiseration about parents with their loud tv's, I feel for you, babe! Think of it this way...this too shall pass!

Mezz - watched the Natasha Beddingfield video, that was great. I like her too. Don't you just love YouTube?

LOL, the ads below are now about Moms and Learn Hebrew (and Greek!)

You gals have been busy chatting!

Yes, YouTube is the best thing since the Internet, especially for fans - you never have to be upset you missed so-and-so (cough Jason cough) on some show or other, because some dear person will have taped it and posted it on YouTube! I remember being upset recently I'd missed something and - oh wait, I bet it's on YouTube (and it was). No more having to tape stuff and then copy the tape and send it to people, etc. Ah yes, another 'good old days' thing!

I've heard Natasha Beddingfield's name, but didn't know her music. I love 'unplugged' versions - we have a radio station that plays 'Acoustic Sunrise' on Sunday mornings, when I'm driving MLette to work and we always enjoy that in the car.

Mr ML is already getting hard of hearing, probably because he listens to music with headphones while he plays on the computer all night long, and he always turns the TV up louder than the rest of us like it. It's not too loud yet (not like Viv or Scotti's Dad!), but not heading in a good direction! I worry that the iPod generation is all going to be deaf as haddocks before they hit their 30s. (That's one of my grandad's great expressions: deaf as a haddock I don't know why haddock's can't hear better than any other fish.)

TV on all the time gets on my nerves too - I like peace and quiet. Although I know lot of people keep it blaring all the time for 'company.' If Mr ML has to wait for me like 1 second, while I put on my shoes - snap - the TV goes on and he starts watching it, even if we're on the way out the door!

LOL, that little pug licking the screen is so adorable. Too funny! I wonder how they get those animals to do that stuff, or is it just animals being weird.

Oh that Bikram fast yoga in the hot room has always scared me! For one thing, I'm useless in the heat and to me, yoga is all about slow, graceful, mellowness (the stuff I did was Iyangar yoga). It just sort of seems like the step-aerobics version of yoga, very aggressive and competitive! But I'm curious to hear how you like it.

I think Devon G had curly frizzy blond hair when he was on Roswell too - but memory is so dim about this stuff. I wonder if Majandra has mellowed out with age or is still the same eccentric diva she was when she was young. At least that's the impression I got of her: high maintenance.

LOL, my parents also used Yiddish when they didn't want kids to understand stuff. Secret Parent Language! When I studied German in school I suddenly started to understand Yiddish, because it's a mix of German and Hebrew - it was like a lightbulb going on!

Cool ani of the dolphin - more like blowing water smoke-rings than kisses. Dolphins are such cool creatures. I often wonder what some of those sea creatures think of us. Probably better not to know!

Your poor legs Wen! It does seem like your Mother should become familiar with the word NO once in awhile. Just for your own good, and hers too. Two little letters: N-O. When my sister in law taught preschool, she'd get kids 3 and 4 years old who had literally never had their parents tell them 'No' in their lives, and then sent them off to school! I bet she was very happy to retire recently! I know a lot of people who have gotten out of teaching because the kids today are just unbearable. I don't know where we've gone wrong - maybe it was Sesame Street - maybe that gave them the teeny tiny attention spans?

My hat is off to anybody who can stand on their feet and work all day, never mind wearing high-heel shoes! I have never been a very good stand-er. Even when we're outside, talking to our neighbor across the street - I just can't stand and stand like that - I can't stand up half as long as our 90 year old neighbor we were talking to. Nope, never been good at standing for a long time. So I guess 'stand up comedy' is out as a profession. Maybe sit-down comedy. ;p

I don't know if Diablo Cody is her real name or her, um, professional stripper name and she kept it to write screenplays. LOL, there's that thing where you take the name of your first pet, and the street you lived on as a kid, and put them together and that's you 'stripper name.' LOL, I could be Myrtle Myrtle - I think we had a turtle named Myrtle, and when I was born, my parents lived on Myrtle street.
Or Toddy Noyes? Or Oscar Beaumont? (That would be a good actor name, if I was a guy). giggle. We moved a lot - and had assorted pets.

sigh- I think my best friend and I, who have been friends since we were about 12, are having a falling out and starting to not be friends anymore. Hard to explain, just a feeling. She wanted me to take a trip with her in April (our birthdays) to visit the dog shelter in (middle of nowhere) Nebraska where our dogs come from. To me, that sounded about as fun as a root canal! sigh.. maybe it's just more of this midlife not being up to par stuff and this will pass too...

We had SNOW last night - totally unexpected (at least by me and my family) little snowstorm. It was fluffy and easy to shovel but - more snow! I'm nervous we'll get another storm next weekend and my plane won't fly to my trip! Just checked the weather and it's not as warm down there in Florida as I expected, so maybe it won't be too bad a shock to my system to fly there for the weekend. So hard to know how to dress and pack, travelling between climates like that. (LOL, I bet that 'Jumper' guy in the movie was always coming down with colds - Jump - Egypt! - Jump - England! LOL! Achoo!)

MLette has a cold right now too - hoping she keeps it to herself for another week, anyway!

OK, mountain of work, ought to get back to it!

Oh I am so bummed! Just read that 'Moonlight' isn't coming back April 11 now - not coming back until April 25. But then 4 weeks of episodes to finish up May 16. Wah! April 25 is way too far away - 2 months!

Next day: Where is everybody?

Saw an commercial for 'New Amsterdam' on Fox last night - starts Tuesday night, looks very cool (immortal cop - not a vampire, not a highlander, just immortal shrug). Well, I give it 7 shows (since that's how many they made!) LOL! The star guy is from Denmark, which is pretty interesting. Aside from Victor Borge, we don't get too many Danes.

Eli Stone was very good again - I just like it. Mr ML keeps trying to figure out what it is about the show he doesn't like, but while he does that, he's watching it. And I taped Lipstick Jungle and fast forwarded through it and Paul Blackthorne and Brooke S doing the naked nasty in the laundry room - hello! What a pornish show this is at times. I feel so bad for Paul B - well, glad he's working and got a great job on a major network show and all but he never buttons his shirt - he's just the sex and (married older guy scruffy) beefcake on this show and it's sad, he's such a fine actor (but he does look pretty fine without his shirt too, in a messy hairy sort of way, and then there's always the British accent) ahem. the young boy toy had his clothes on this week but a lot of soulful puppydog eyes. He's really not that good looking, when he has clothes on. But then again, nobody is that good looking, on that show! LOL! Even their names are annoying - Victory? Nico? sigh. I should stop taping it, but I'm just fascinated to see Paul Blackthorne do gratuituous sex and nudity week in and week out like that. heh

OK ML you can be a sit down comic Yup I think we can fear quit because we don't want to be alone with our thoughts....we'd all be better off with a little more self contemplation but then we need LaLa time just as much!! I'm thinkn' you guys have gotten so much snow already that by next week it'll be on empty and you'll have smooth flying What Scottie said ...sometimes it's cool to be alone at events and such.....I loved the alone time I had in NYC during the HEA viewing....loved strolling around SoHo and the village..pretending I was a local....and you talk to so many ppl when you're alone cause when you're with ppl you only talk to that bunch...I think you're gonna be glad you went!

Wen I am so so greatful the leg thing is a major annoyance and not a bad bad thing.....but I just feel for you maybe it will go as mysteriously as it came....or maybe you're allergic to Mom!? Got you something........................................................................................... .................................................................................................... .................................................................................................... .................................................................................................... .................................................................................................... .......................................................................

vB THanks for the tale of many lanquages.....your life is so interesting and exotic to me I know it's your normal but I'm endlessly facinated. You and ML need to teach us some fun yiddish words we can sprinkly our conversation with!!

Congrats about losing 6 lbs! A few more and that's a whole size already! :>

Hm.. Yiddish expressions.. "Sei gesund" - be healthy. My grandparents advice for gin rummy: "Varf avec die grosse" (throw away the big ones, ie, the high cards). My dad's grandfather's advice to his grandchildren: "Gey avec!" (go away) and also "Badda me nisht!" (don't bother me - but I think 'badda' is probably Yinglish for bother, not really Yiddish). Oh, how about "Kannah hora" - literally means 'no evil eye' (like 'You have such a fine baby, kanna hora') - you want to say something is nice, but you don't want to tempt fate by saying it. Well, you already know 'oy vey!' or 'oy vey is mir!' (hmm, think that is like 'woe is me'?)

I love languages, can you tell!

OK, being good, back to the grind!

ML - thanks for the Yiddish lessons, and you're right - the ads at the bottom of the page are for Hebrew Translations and Reading the Bible in Hebrew! It's almost scary how they know what we're talking about!

And Podmom's right - you could be a sit down comic, I always find myself laughing at something in your posts.

Quote:
I could be Myrtle Myrtle
See? I laughed at that. I'd have to be Timmy Indian Spring. Sounds like a stripping Indian or something. Our cat was Timmy and I lived on Indian Spring Drive. Funny - I ended up marrying a Tim! We named Timmy the cat after Jon Provost who starred as Timmy in the Lassie tv show. We all had crushes on him as little girls! He was so adorable.

I think Majandra mellowed some. The first time I met her (at the Philly party) she was very standoffish, but very funny in the Q&A portion of the weekend. Then she and Devon came to one of the BATs and they were very comfy around the fans, so hopefully she's come to realize that MOST of us are pretty normal peeps.

Quote:
I bet that 'Jumper' guy in the movie was always coming down with colds - Jump - Egypt! - Jump - England! LOL! Achoo!
I laughed at this too! Did you ever read The Time Traveller's Wife? Reminded me of Henry who jumped through time and always came through naked as the day he was born. So he always had to find clothes and shoes first and THEN try to figure out when/where he was. If you haven't read that book, it's fabulous. I absolutely loved it. It's by Audrey Niffenegger (I think that's the correct spelling.)

Podmom - LOL - love the cornfield! I'll give a full report on the hot yoga on Monday, I hope I survive it. I told my Pilates teacher that I was going and he told me that he's actually met the Yogi Bikram and that he was very haughty and rude! So we'll see! (Not that Bikram's going to be teaching the class I'm going to go to! Just mentioned that Carl had met Bikram.)

LOL, hard to imagine a haughty rude yogi! I thought all that eastern stuff was about humility and humble gentle-ness. Guess not! I know there's some big yoga dude around this area who has that hot 'power yoga' and he's slick and modern as a used car salesman.

You're the second person to mention that 'Time Traveller's Wife' book and I will go buy it. I guess when 'Journeyman' was on, that topic came up, that it was like that book. sigh. Too bad about Journeyman, it was a nice show but just didn't click with the public quite enough I guess. I imagine it was expensive to put on too. But it was cool - just decided I liked it and they cancelled it the next day! So it goes...

Speaking of naked as the day they were born, I just got around to watching the unaired episodes on my 'Firefly' DVD and, in one of them, the captain, played by Nathan Fillion, is in exactly that state! Naked! (He gets double crossed and left sitting naked on a rock in the middle of the desert- long story - can't imagine sitting on a rock in the desert would be very comfortable for a nekkid guy either - or for anybody!) How did I have this in DVD set in my collection all these years and never watch that one! And I can well see why it went 'unaired' - he was naked forpetesake! LOL! A fine figure of a man, that nice guy from Alberta.

The recent SciFi 'Firefly' marathon on TV reminded me I had the DVDs and about how much I liked that show, so I started to watch them over again.

Naked! (um, he was naked; I had all my clothes on, I swear!)

OMB! You ARE so Funny!!! I just LOVE your posts! Not only are you so intelligent, but you are sooo funny too!!! I know I'm not alone in this but we all just love you!!!

Poddy! Just LOVE the Cornfield! LOL! Thanks for that!
And Congrats on the 6lbs! Good for you!!!

Scottie! Thanks so much for the little pug Screensaver! It's adorable and I know my kids will get such a big kick out of it!

Vero, Yes, I know I need to say "NO" to MOTHER more often, but it's such a hassle... (she pouts and/or throws tantrums) But I am putting my foot down (or actually up ) on this one! No more going to take her shopping! She'll just have to rely on Lainie for her shopping needs from now on like or not!

Mezzi, I did what you suggested and emailed my Bro' with... "I'm so glad you are so enthusiastic about having Mother spending some time with you and your family! She'll be packed and ready to go with you after her Birthday Party next Saturday."

I haven't heard back from him, so we'll see.

Oh, let's see... pets and street names... Well there was "Dippy Mt. Hope", (crazy bird named Dippy! LOL! and I lived on Mt. Hope AVE. and also "Vanilla LaRoush", (beloved German Shephard named Vanilla, and I lived on LaRoush St.)

LOL! They DO make good Stripper names! LOL!

I have to go put my legs back up... Grrrrr!

Hugs to All,
Wen

"Vanilla LaRoush"!!! That has to be THE best stripper-name of all time! I have tears in my eyes, from laughing! (Dippy Mt Hope is a definitely hysterical 2nd best.)

Snow again here - sort of weird snow, on the border of rain, so there's snow falling, but rain dripping off the trees onto the snow and giving it freckles. Yep, its been a very strange winter!

Been checking the weather in FL and it's in the mid to upper 70s now - nice! Not that I'll probably spend any time outdoors there (airport, hotel, convention center, and vice versa).

Happy March 1!

"Precious" is a pretty good stripper name. Needs a racier sounding street, though. "Cookie" and "Oreo" aren't bad either.

LOL, picturing Dippy Mt Hope as kind of dumb but with a big chest.

We had guy pets with guy names: Petey, Max, Oscar, Felix. Well the first two (dachshunds - my parents only had dachshunds) were named for booze: Schnapps and Rum Toddy, but neither of those would be good stripper names either.

And of course dumb people (everybody) thought "Schnapps" was "Snaps" and meant that he would bite! Like we'd name a dog "He's gonna bite you!" LOL! Although I guess some people name their dog 'Killer' or whatever.

We went out to the mall today and I bought 'Time Traveller's Wife' - but saving it til Friday to read on the plane. It looks good, though.

Our snow turned to rain - but last trip out with the dog, it was turning to ice and I went WHEEEHHH a few times! Didn't fall down, though, thank goodness. Phew! I hate that sneaky ice!

Good that you are putting your foot down about keeping your feet up, Wen! Gosh tantrums etc - it's like dealing with a 3 year old!

LOL! Yes, Vanilla LaRoush does make a good stripper name! Little did my parents know when they chose that street to live on, it would turn out to be the winner of a Stripper name! LOL! And 2nd runner up with Dippy Mt. Hope is so funny too for a Stripper!

That's funny that you would say that because my No.2 son's pre-school teacher's dog was named... (Ready?)... "Did He Bite You?!" Not kidding! That was the dog's Name! LOL!

Some people, eh?! LOL!

And you bought the book 'Time Traveller's Wife'! Good for you!

But you won't be on the plane very long... I mean how long is it to Florida in the air from MA anyway, what like 30 mins to an hr. or so? Can't be very long at all. It probably feels like you're just taking off and then you're landing already!

And yes, dealing with MOTHER IS like dealing with a child! Grrrr! It's so frustrating! She's a Giant Spoiled BRAT! Grrrr!

All my growing up years, my Father used to say... "Now remember,,, take care of Mother." Grrrr! (It was because of all of her Phobias.) Had to protect her so she wouldn't freak out and all that. Grrrr!!! So she was pampered! Grrrrr!

Oh Gosh! That ice is scary! Please be careful... Don't even want a hair on your head hurt! We want you going to Beautiful Sunny Florida in one unbroken piece!

Poddy, Precious and Cookie ARE good Stripper names too!

And that was nice that you took a walk with a friend today, even in the short snow storm.

I have to admit... I don't miss the snow. I don't miss freezing my tail feathers off... I don't miss having to shovel the stuff, and I definitely don't miss having to drive in it.

Sorry snow lovers, buts that's just how I feel.

But if I want to see snow, then I can just look at the Mts of Lake Tahoe and there it is, all pretty, (way up there). And if I want to go visit it, it's just a couple hrs drive, and then I can come home to No snow. It's very nice living where I do.

Been thinking about Scottie, doing that Yogi Bikram Sweat. I hope you are staying Hydrated! (worry, worry) I don't want you getting sick!
Some things sound good in theory, but ... doesn't actually turn out well.

Hmm, I still have not heard back from my Bro'. I'm going to have to call the Coward. I think he's purposly avoiding emailing me back since I told him that MOTHER will be all ready and packed to leave with him after her birthday party and spend some time with he and his family. hehehe!

(Thanks Mezzi for the Good Advice! Got my Bro squirming now! LOL!)

Hugs to All,
Wen

I'm so glad you emailed your brother. Pack Mother's bag sneakily and pop her in their car before she knows what's going on. You don't have to ring the brother. Just write another email saying, "I'll take the lack of response as a 'yes we'll do it'. Packing Mother's bag now. Really looking forward to my MUCH needed break. I really do appreciate you doing this for me."

If Mother will help you out then tell her that brother has asked to have her over for a couple of weeks and then she can make it so he can't get out of it. I do hope they help you out but I guess, if they don't, at least you made him squirm.

My porn name is Perky Taylor. Perky was our budgie.

ML you make me laugh too. You're so cute.

I wrote a letter today by hand. Gosh it hurts to write now that I hardly do it. All them muscles not used to being used. Oy vey.

Mezz so true about hand-writing muscles being totally atrophied! It feels so weird to hand-write things these days. Although I still jot stuff on manuscripts I'm editing - I still think better with a pen in my hand!

'Perky Taylor' is a great stripper name - so... perky!

LOL Wen maybe a supersonic rocket jet could get to Florida that fast - it's a 3 or 3-1/2-hr flight (have to fly down the whole length of the Eastern coast of USA, pretty much). OK, people from Oz, I know that's nothing to you, as far as length of flights goes! And of course with the hours you need to get there before the flight, because of blankety-blank dumb security stuff, it makes the trip even longer. I really never wanted to fly again, it's so annoying these days, but the temptation to go see those guys was too great! And then sometimes, like with a family crisis, you just have to.

LOL, I love the idea of leaving Mother on Brother's doorstep like an orphaned baby in a bundle. Ring his doorbell and run away! "Avon calling!"

I can't believe somebody named a dog "Did he bite you?'! Now I've heard everything. Dog must have bitten people all the time, to get a name like that (And what did they call him for short - Diddy? Pee Diddy?) As I recall, Pink named her dog something pornographic. I always say you need to think about hollaring the name up and down the street, should the dog run away, before you give them embarrassing/weird names! Saw a guy in the park yelling "Romeo! Oh Romeo" after his big poodle. giggle.

Well, 'New Amsterdam' premieres tonight! Saw a coming attraction short thing on FOX last night. "Kyle XY" tonight! And a special about the Queen and the Royals on tonight too! And CBS did a behind-the-scenes 'we're back' commercial I saw last night - and had the ever-so-briefest glimpse of 'Moonlight' in there - blink and you'd miss it. sigh. Hope that's not a bad sign. They're due back to start filming March 4 - tomorrow!

Suitcase is out and travelling clothes are being assembled! The weather looks like it's going to be really nice down there! And a movie was on TV yesterday with Dylan Neal, one of the guys I'm going to see, called 'Cradle of Lies' - he starred as the evil plotting crazy (but handsome) husband in sort of a thriller. Mr ML spotted him and put the TV on that channel for me, so I could check it out. Much better than his usual "Oh... look who it is!" and by the time I run in to look, whoever it was, is gone - and of course he can't think of their name or who it was! LOL!

I don't think I'd miss snow either, and never miss ice! Well, I do like the ice that forms over little puddles like panes of glass and you can stomp on it and break it - 'crackle ice' we like to call it. Good to get out those vandalistic tendencies in a harmless way, I suppose! I think a distant snowy attractive mountain, far away, would be just fine to look at. Oh well, spring is definitely trying to come! And we turn the clocks next weekend too, spring ahead. Which will probably totally mess me up with catching my plane on time! (worry worry)
