And thanks for the Decorations too!

Lainie finally down/ or is it up-loaded the pictures of the Robin. Only showing one... the one without the bloody tail. Anyway, here it is... (um, don't look at my dusty fan tho'.)

And here's a picture of my DIL with my Belle, well technically her Belle, but Belle lives with me.

Hugs,
Wen

Hey all!!!

I was waiting all day yesterday for a new thread.... and thinking of a name for a thread myself thinking that if no one will then I'll have to. I'm so happy you've started one ML! I still didn't have any ideas for a name and yours definitely has a charm into it.

I came back from this interview for a temp job (while I'm waiting for that big one I want). It was ok and the interviewer was really nice and actually told me they want me but I wanted to think about it so I'll call her back tomarrow. I'll have to think about it because she seemed nice and all of the maybes I had flying in my head relaxed after talking to her.... I just have to consider a whole lot of things. I think I'll say yes but I just wanted to be sure about it and not leave after like a day. I hate it when other people do that so I definitely didn't want to....

Anyway.... it's totally cold over here right now (again snow up north and in Jerusalem and raining over here). It seems like we're having time offs in our winter this year...

ML, as I've said b4 great work on the new name for the thread and the wonderful decorations!

Happy to hear MLette had a good time in Vermont. Well I totally get hating going on vications to cold places.... I'll take a sunny day at the beach anyday! But at least she had a good time.

I saw a commercial for Jumper and it seemed interesting. One of those movies you don't really have to think about.... and according to what you've said it's just that. I sometimes like those. They're not great those ones but they're a way to pass time.... I'm not planning going to see it on the theaters but maybe on a DVD or something....

About the couches happened exactly what I thought will happen. The cherity organization took one and left the rest and guess who was expected to take them out? Us! I told my mom once and I told her again that I'm though with those couches the moment I took them out the 1st time. Whoever it was that took it in should have take it out. And that wasn't us! But my mom is too good at heart and made my dad (only because she can't really because of her leg) to take it out. I knew this would happen. I have no problem with cherity but I definitely have a problem with people doing half the work and then leave the rest to others! I know it seems petty but I don't see a reason for me to work twice as hard just because OTHER people decided they wasnted to do a good thing and then only did half the work!

Wen, those pics are lovely! Your DIL and Bell are just so sweet!

Night podmommy!

all

Hi Everyone!

Glad you all liked the pictures! Yes, Belle is a happy girl! And my DIL is really sweet. I got lucky in that department, TG!

As for the Robin,,, I hope it's doing well. I haven't seen it in my yard lately, but there are too many to sort thru' now a days to see if it's the one!

Poddy, Yes, MOTHER, Believe me, I'd like to throttle her too sometimes, but mostly, I just want her gone from my sights that she makes me so insane sometimes... Like I'd LOVE to be able to just BLINK her into a Cornfield FAR AWAY sometimes and WITHOUT her purse so she can't come back any time soon. (sigh) Yep, just Blink her away at will. (My little dream.) LOL!

Her birthday is coming up soon. (March 7th... She'll be 76) I wish my Bro' would just take her for a week for her birthday, (Since he's not working), but he won't... too busy hitting the pavement every day looking for work. And if you believe that, then I have some lovely beach front property to sell you in Nevada!

All kidding aside, I really do need a break from her. (sigh) But my Bro won't take her more than a day, (oh say about once every 6 mos.) mainly because my sis-in-law doesn't want her there, and my SIL can be a Royal Witch when she wants to be! (Which is most of the time!)

Vero, Sorry to hear that your neighbors did that to you with your couches. I say like you... Once they took the couches, those couches became THEIR problem!

It's just not right that your poor Dad had to take them out twice!

Good luck deciding on that temp job Sweetie. It's just so hard to know sometimes. Makes one wish for a mini time machine that just speeds things up, just a little in the future, just to know which way to decide.

MyrnaLynne, Oh, I didn't realize you didn't plan on discussing the Florida trip with Mr. ML. I guess it makes sense tho'.

Have you decided yet if you were going or not? I bet it would be an easier decision if you had someone to go with. I'm not too keen on traveling by myself... but that's just me. It doesn't bother a lot of peeps to travel alone at all!

I'm going to try and get some sleep since it's just about 3:30 am now. (sigh) Wish me luck.

Hugs to All,
Wen

Wen, that sounds like a nice dream! How about you just move and don't tell her where. Or maybe you go and tour the country (like she did) and let her deal with herself for a little while.
She's a piece of work, that's for sure!

It's definitely not fair that you have to deal with her all the time. Your brother should definitely help with that. It reminds me of my mom and her brothers. She's the only one taking care of my grandma (not that she's as bad as your mom.... she's very calm but sometimes we need a little help with her and her sons (my mom's brothers) don't help much... if at all...
But then with your SIL and your mom don't get along that's kinda a problem... but then if they just suck it in for a while and take her it won't be that bad. After all you definitely do deserv some time off!

I know! I actually told them to leave the couches alone but my mom just doesn't like to make people angry and she was sceard to get the neighbors angry.... she just doesn't get that there's no reason for them to get angry at us since as far as we're concerned we threw our couches away and someone else brough them back inside.... didn't matter how much I explained it she still through we should get it out.

Yea it could be nice to know ahead of things how everything would work out... but then we won't have any surprises in life. With me it would probebly just confuse me more.... I still haven't decided BTW.

I hope you're fast asleep right now!

LOL that everybody was waiting anxiously for the new thread to happen! Glad I finally took the plunge and I missed chatting with you all!

MLette and I had a great shopping trip on our day off yesterday and I bought the cutest sneakers for spring (in fact I can't wait for spring so I'm wearing them at work today) - I call them my 'Heath Ledger Memorial sneakers' because they are sort of a wild brown and beige plaid with blue stitching (I love blue and brown together) and they just made me think of the kind of wild stuff he'd like to wear. sigh. Although I suppose velcro straps would make them totally uncool!

They are sort of Chuck Taylor clone types, so they have the Jason vibe too, but I just looked at them and thought 'Heath Ledger' - go figure! Anyway, they're so cute! MLette got some black high heels with a strap - she's so tall already I don't know why she needs heels, but that's what she was looking for, and she has an awful time finding shoes that fit (she got her father's feet! LOL!).

My 2nd season Roswell shoes that I bought in Thousand Oaks Mall when I was out in LA are getting ready for retirement (my first season Max shoes bit the dust not too long ago - I still miss them!). LOL, if I've worn them since 2nd season of Roswell, I definitely got my money's worth out of them!

Oh VB that's exactly what I was afraid would happen - you'd get stuck moving the couches AGAIN! So unfair. They did charity to others, but they definitely didn't do a good deed to you or your family!

The temp job sounds like it is good, if after you went to talk with the person, you got a good feeling about it. And it's only temporary so it will give you some $ and stuff to do, while you wait for that big job to decide about you. And if you don't like it - it's temporary! That's both the bad part of it and the beauty of it.

Yes, I guess we thought too much about that 'Jumper' movie, expecting it to have a message or a lot of meaning or whatever, and not just enjoy a cool story about a cool young guy with a very different 'talent.'

Oh speaking of different guys, Mr ML and I watched 'Dexter' - about the serial killer who works for the police and kills off bad guys as his hobby - that's very different. It's a good show, but we both agreed probably too icky and disturbing to watch it. They brought it over from Showtime to regular TV, because of the writer's strike and having not enough shows. They dubbed over some swears and cut a bit of the violence and gore - but there's still plenty left as that's the basic plot of the story. Weird! Mr ML gave 'Jericho' a try, and we tried to watch Sarah Connor again but all agreed to turn the channel! Not for us.

I happened across the 'Firefly' marathon they were having on SciFi yesterday and watched a few episodes (some I hadn't seen!) and remembered all over again how great that show was, how much I liked it, and how sorry I was they ripped it off the air so soon. It was a hard concept to sell, cowboys and spaceships in the future, but it the characters were so good, and it was so well written and creative. Think it might be time to drag out the DVD and have a festival of my own. :>

Wen what a great picture of the robin! And how cool to have a robin perched on the ceiling fan (not saying a word about dust, my place is a dust factory). DIL and Belle are so cute - she's very shepherdy looking (the dog that is, not the DIL! LOL!). DIL is a beauty. It does seem like your brother married a gal just like his mother, which isn't that unusual. And she's only 76!!! That's so young to be talking like she has one foot in the grave already. Oh well, people age at different rates and their health is different etc person to person. LOL, too bad Mom isn't a jumper and could jump away! Although she'd probably keep jumping over to visit you instead. HUGS! She needs to give you some space/a rest.

I've pretty much decided to go on the trip (just have to make the reservations/actually take the plunge). Yeh, going by myself is the sticking point. And my dad's birthday being around then made me feel guilty (to go to FL and not see him), but I realized if I wasn't going there, it's not like I would be visiting my dad for his birthday instead! LOL!

Well, I don't do big stuff without checking with Mr ML, but he's just not very good to bounce stuff off and decide stuff, and this is about my hobbies/interests - he doesn't ask me what to do about basketball or his online games or whatever! I don't know, of course I tell him I'm thinking about going someplace and when and if that would be okay with him/would he mind (because they will have to take care of the dog, which he hates to do in a big way). sigh.

It was so warm here yesterday it almost hit a record! We are having the strangest winter. In December, the snow set a record, this month the rain almost was a record.

Guess I should tear myself away and get some stuff done! My computer at work is giving me fits this morning - kept crashing and rebooting itself, freezing up, and when I fixed stuff on a disk and saved it - the corrections didn't save! Oh, I"m tearing my hair out with this thing today.. guess I need to call the tech guys (who haven't fixed anything for me right yet.. sigh).

Hey everyone!

ML - very nice shiny new thread! And I hadn't ever seen FL's wall of Jason before, what a TREAT! Sometimes I wish that I was single and had my place all to myself and I could put Jason up all over the walls! But then again, my friends would probably think I'd gone over the deep end! But it sure would be fun!

I got a new dresser this weekend, went to Ikea and bought a really pretty black dresser with four little drawers and four big drawers in it. So I got to take a lot of my clothes off the shelves in the closer (which looked pretty bad!) and put them in a dresser where they belong. The only problem with buying furniture from Ikea is that it comes in BOXES that you have to put together. It took Hubby and I hours to put it together. It was so confusing!

I'm glad you all liked the dancing horse video (from the last thread). I thought it was amazing, the bond between the horse and rider. And I agree with you ML, it was nice to see the bond and not someone using a whip or a stick on the horse to make it dance. Just gentle guidance and love.

I went to see KH's movie 27 Dresses yesterday. It was cute. Nuff said...we enjoyed it...

Wen - ooh, Mother's demands made me mad too. Loved your fantasy about blinking her away! How nice if we could be I Dream of Jeannie and just fold our arms and blink and POOF - No mother!

Off to work a bit more, I had yesterday off (like I said!) and have some things to catch up on...

to all!

Hi Everyone!

Vero, Thanks for the nice wish that I would be sleeping, but I was only just falling asleep for like 5 mins, and then that dang Sleep Paralysis hit me! I HATE THAT!

Does anyone else get that?! It's when you are just falling asleep, or just about waking up, and your mind is fully awake, but your body IS NOT and still in "sleep mode" and you are totally paralyzed! Can't move a muscle and it's the worst feeling!!!

Sometimes it comes with such a heaviness in your chest that you can barely breath, and you are desperately trying to move, but you just can't. You just have to stay there and wait for it to pass, and sometimes it takes 30 mins or so! Or at least that's been about the longest for me!

Then after it goes away, you feel positively drained from fighting it for so long! But believe me, you DON'T feel like trying to go to sleep right after that for fear it will happen again!

MyrnaLynne, Sorry to hear that your computer is giving you fits! Too bad my No.2 son isn't your IT guy because he'd fix your computer lickety split!

Maybe your company should hire Mr. ML Jr. for their IT Dept! Then maybe things would get fixed Right around there the 1st time! It's a thought!

And yes, Belle is half German Shephard/half Rott, but she really looks more Shephardy than Rott, so they should have left her tail, poor baby. I'm sure she would have had a beautiful tail. The peeps that sold her to my No.1 son had her tail removed.

She's a Great dog... so incredibly smart too! Must get that from her Shephard side,,, but I'm not saying that Teddi, (My Rott.), isn't smart too! It's just that Belle can figure out problems very quickly, and learns Very fast!

I still have to have Lainie take a good picture of Teddi. All the pictures we have of him, well lets put it this way... it shows that he's a BOY! I keep telling Lainie that she has to get a better pose of him.

And yes, my Bro' did marry someone very much like my mother, but in some cases she's actually Worse! (If you could believe that!) Actually I think my SIL is really insane!

Oh, and MOTHER has been saying 'she isn't long for this world' for YEARS! And I keep telling her that she's going to OUT LIVE US ALL! (She HATES when I say that!) hehehe! LOL!

Well, MOTHER made me angry the other day! (But what else is new)

I bought her a DVD player for Christmas and a complete set of one of her favorite TV series.

Well, she called and said it wasn't working, and implied that I got her a cheap one. Grrrrr!

So, Lainie and I go over to her place to check it out because Lainie is very good with that kind of stuff too.

Well, Lainie found out what was wrong... she FRIED it with the extremely HOT cable box! Even tho' We TOLD her ... "DO NOT PUT ANYTHING ON TOP OF THIS DVD PLAYER", she did not listen. Grrrrrr!

And she swears up and down that we NEVER told her that!

She didn't like the way it looked in her entertainment center. She said that it looked better with the cable box on top of it, so that's what she did and put it on top! Grrrrr! So she fried the lense, hence no more DVD player.

And Even tho' it was HER fault... she said, "Oh Well, you'll just have to get me another one since the one you got me didn't even last 2 months!"

BLINK! BLINK! BLINK! INTO THE CORNFIELD SHE GOES! If only!!!!

Ok, enough about her...

Scottie, Congrats on the new dresser! Sounds really nice! I just love getting new furniture too!

And glad you got to go to the movies and enjoyed yourself! That's always nice! Did you get to go with your friends to see the movie?

And that's funny that you mentioned wishing you could put up Jason pictures everywhere, but then your friends would think you'd gone of the deep end.

Well I have a picture of Jason on my bedroom wall that is at least 3feet by 4feet! NOT EVEN KIDDING!!!

Anyway, we re-financed last year, and the lady doing the inspection took one look at that picture, (and she did NOT have a poker face!), did a double take, and looked at me like I was the strangest person on this Earth!

And as we were leaving my Bedroom, she stopped and said, "Ok, I just have to ask, who is that?!" And I told her it was Jason Behr of Roswell. She just looked blankly at me... hadn't a clue! So I told her he was an up and coming Star that I was a big fan of. And she said, "Apparently"! and she smile and said that he sure was handsome, and we left the room.

I'm sure she thought I was NUTS, but that's Ok because I don't care.

Going to scoot for now...

Hope everyone is having a Great Day!

Hugs,
Wen

LOL, at least she didn't ask 'Is that your son?' I used to get that a lot when people came in the office where I was before and saw Jason's picture on my desktop. Actually he does look something like my son (at least Max Evans did) but... duh! I had a Roswell poster on my kitchen door, but Mr ML managed to drip white paint down Max's face when he painted in there!

Never heard of sleep paralysis but it sounds very scary! Actually it sounds like the way the vampire, Henry, wakes up in the Blood Ties novels - they sort of 'cease to be' when they sleep during the daytime (they are kind of dead) and then when the sun sets, they come back to themselves, but it annoys him how gradually his awareness returns and before he can get up and move around. Sorry, literary allusion there!

Very sad about Belle's tail. I think cropping and docking are so sad. In fact, that's what made me decide not to be a veterinarian (when I was all of 9 or 10 years old) - didn't want to do that sort of thing! I bet she would have had a great tail.
But you can tell she's a lovely dog.

As for the fried DVD player - 'you fry it, you get to buy it'! Well, she should have to wait until next Christmas anyway. (Though I didn't know you couldn't put anything on a DVD player either - lucky we didn't fry ours, we are such a family of 'pilers').

Scottie congrats on the new furniture! How exciting! Putting those things together is a huge challenge/lots of work. Mr ML and I built our computer desk and hutch and that was the hardest thing I ever built! I've still never been to an Ikea store. One was supposed to open in my town, and I was so excited it was coming, but some problem came up with the tree huggers vs the developers that delayed them, and they built it in another town south of me instead.

I wish I could get Mr ML Jr a job with the IT folks at the hospital!

I think those 'I Dream of Jeannie' powers would be very handy - I'd use them to clean my house and wallpaper my living room! Although nobody is going to me my 'master'!

That would be kind of creepy if I had a picture that big of my son in my bedroom! ICK!!! LOL!

But on my keychain I have a picture of Max and Liz and peeps always ask me if they are my kids! LOL!

Awww, that's really too bad that Mr. ML ruined Jason's pic with paint.

And yes, that Sleep Paralysis is the Worst Thing!!! I Hate it when it happens to me. Not often, but often enough, and it's plagued me my whole life! ARG!
You'll have to read up on it sometime... quite interesting what some folk thought it was! LOL!

I also think is so cruel to bob an animal's tail! I don't know who thought it was a good idea, but they should have the same fate in their next life! Grrr!

Seriously tho', it's such a cruel practice. But here in CA, they are cutting down on that, which is a bad thing in a way, because instead of professionals doing it... now the owners are doing it themselves, and we all know that can't turn out well in most cases! I just shudder to think about it!

Oh and with MOTHER's twisted thinking, she truly believes that it's not her fault about her DVD play! Grrrr! But then again, she NEVER takes blame for ANYTHING! Grrrr!

And about Mr. ML Jr. getting an IT job at your hospital... I don't know what kind of degree he graduated with from college, but there is this TEST that he could take from Microsoft, that could get him an IT job just like that! Have him check it out if he's interested... it's worth a shot. You never know, it just might be what he's looking for, and could be happy doing?!

Oh and how I wish I had those Jeannie Powers... but I do admit, I wouldn't always use them for the good, because MOTHER would be in the middle of that Cornfield quite often! LOL!

Phone... got to go...

Happy Birthday (soon) Mezzi!

I never look at that birthday thread since they lumped all birthdays over there, and now I'm always missing everybody's day!

I was SO excited PBS was showing a production of 'Company' by Stephen Sondheim last night - just love and adore that play and can sing you the whole show - anyway, I was getting ready to tape it and I saw a 'stay tuned for' commercial and realized it was that weird production where there are no sets and they all walk around carrying musical instruments and PLAY them (they are the actors AND the orchestra - talk about saving money! ) and I just skipped the whole thing! Way too avante garde and bizarre for me. Plus it was on for like 3 hrs. And MLette had to see her 'Top Models'! LOL! Her guilty pleasure show. I watched the Latin ballroom competition instead - muy caliente!
Wish I could dance like that! Wish I had a figure like that too! The surprising thing, to me, was that they were all Russians, Polish, whatever (now from America, from Canada, etc)! Every single top dancing couple in every style had some unpronouncible Slavic name. I guess they are the best dancers in the world.

Gah, February is rocketing by! Always catches me by surprise - even with Leap Year, it's still the shortest month. If I'm taking a trip, I'd better get working on it!

Did any body see the lunar eclipse last night? It was a very clear night, big yellow moon, and at least I caught the end of it - looked like an eyelid blinking down over the moon. And it came at a decent hour too (between 9-11) - I remember Mr ML and I setting the clock years ago to get up in the middle of the night and look at one (seen one, seen em all)! LOL The better show was our neighbors who also got up to watch it from their kitchen window behind our house -naked! That guy who was my neighbor works in my building at the hospital now - I should tell him about that some day. Hmm, or maybe not.

Gosh there is just nothing on TV now. It's kind of nice to have 'free time' but it's very disconcerting! But Moonlight comes back April 11! It will be a nice belated birthday gift for me!

Oh my dad got cataract #2 fixed and he's doing fine! Just needs to get new glasses for his 'new eyes' and he'll be better than new again!
