I love that 'shopping' seagull. Birds aren't as 'bird brain' as people think. There are whole colonies of pigeons and sparrows who hang around the hospital courtyard where people eat lunch (and try to catch a ray of sun/breath of fresh air) and try to look cute and hopeful for some crumbs. The sparrows will come and perch on the back of a chair or the edge of the table! What is it with animals - fish, birds, dogs - they all look at you with one question on their faces: "Got any food?"

I just heard about the Alaskan governor VP lady with McCain from two of my friends (if it weren't for my friends, I'd be living under a rock as far as news, esp political news). My one friend was very impressed with her - very down to earth, hardy soul. I don't know about this Joe Beiden guy, but he's local (Rhode Island is just next door). I keep going back and forth with these candidates, but Mr and Mrs Obama seem like awfully nice people. And the country seems really excited about him for President, like they were for Kennedy. Oh well, we'll see.. you know when I come out for a candidate - the other guy almost always wins! So I'm staying on the fence! My support is the kiss of death!

Oh, I'm mad - I made a vet appointment Tues because I had the knee doctor Tues (he'd postponed it til then). They just called up today and cancelled it again!!! I already took Tues off. Oh well.. I rescheduled it for later in the month and I'll have to tell the boss they cancelled it again. She's a doctor - she ought to understand! LOL! The knee doctor's wife had a baby - that's a pretty good excuse for taking a few days off!

Sorry about your swimmers ear, Poddy! Hope it gets better with the drops.

It's hard when people get older and start to pass. All our 'old friends' from our Temple are gone now. I remember how hard it hit my dad when his folks passed away and he was all 'Now we're the older generation.' This time marching along is no picnic!

Prayers for the wee one with the tumor. Doesn't it seem like way more people are getting brain tumors than ever before? Or maybe we're just hearing about them/they're finding them now.

Guess I should do some work before this long holiday weekend!

LOL about the Obama jeep! I'm glad in this country we can poke fun at politics and nobody knocks at our door and takes us away! Although if Bush had his way, they probably would pass that as another 'homeland security' idea... sigh!

Sorry I was confusing up there - the vet appointment is still on, the knee shot (so I can walk right again for a couple more months) got postponed. Elmo doesn't seem sick - except for the peeing a lot. sigh. Maybe it's male menopause?

Speaking of that - woo the hot flashes! I'm glad cool weather is coming. Heard a funny one: Hot flashes - your own personal instant summer vacations!

Nice cool damp morning - we got a bit of (needed) rain in the night. Like Camelot - rains at night and stops by morning. Well, not always!

Maggie's birthday is around the corner, right after Mr ML Jrs. I don't think he's getting a Wii. Maybe if he gets a job before Hanukah, we'll get one for the whole family or something (I looked at the prices online! ) Oh well, no worse than the GPS I got him (which he totally didn't appreciate very much, but at least he doesn't get lost driving as often). Driving around here is very tricky, there are so many one way roads and the streets wind here and there (were laid out over cow paths etc) - not the nice NS/EW grids of the midwest and cities that were planned out and didn't just evolve. Always laughed at my friend from Chicago who would give directions like 'Go north for 5 miles and then east for 3 miles." Huh? Here we'd say "Drive to the sub shop and then turn left, and then go right at the gas station.."

If you can't get the hubby expensive gifts (now and then), who can you get them for?

We went out to this garden place/estate called Elm Bank, run by the horticultural society. Weren't that impressed/wasn't that much to see, plus somebody was having their wedding there, so we didn't want to get in the way (it hadn't started yet, but was just about to start soon). Good part it was free to visit.

We did see a blue heron in the water, and they had a cool garden with plants mentioned in the Bible (labeled) and medicinal plants etc that was interesting but mostly hot sun, a mosquito bit MLette, and I stepped into a squishy mud puddle (in the middle of a dry yard - must have been a sprinkler thingie) and slopped muddy water onto/into my shoe - ooo, I was not happy!!

We stopped for a nice lunch on the way home, though. Trying to do some fun/together things before it gets to be winter again (soon). Now I'm ready for a nap!

Hi Everyone!

Gosh, it seems I'm so out of touch here with R/L getting in the way. (Darn R/L!) LOL!

MOTHER is back at her place, TG!!! It's been a rollercoaster around here, that's for sure.

Financing Finally went thru' for the car, so I had the cash to go car shopping and had made the appt with the Internet Manager for Friday nite so No. 2 son and I could go look at cars.

No. 2 son ends up calling me to tell me he has to work late... some kind of crisis at work, and couldn't leave till the crisis was over. Ack! So I had to call back the Internet Manager and reschedule till the next morn. He was really nice about it.

Anyway, to make a long story short... The Internet Manager gave me such a Good Deal, that I just couldn't pass it up! So now I am the proud owner of a brand new 2008 Kia Spectra, with free tires for life, 10 year, 100,000mi warranty, all for $14,500 out the door!

Out of 7 dealerships, no one could beat that price, so I know I got a really good deal.

Thank Goodness it's finally over! But I'll tell you, I will never shop for another car WITHOUT using the Internet Manager, because I will NEVER deal with salesmen ever again. The Internet Manager is the ONLY person you EVER see, and there are NO GAMES. You get the Best Price, usually $4,000 or more below what's on the sticker because NO salesmen commission is involved.

It's the only way to go. The Internet Manager is the Best kept Secret and it really shouldn't be!

The sticker on my car was $18,995! And I got it for $13,500, so what does that tell you?!!! The Internet Manager is the Way To Go!!!

Hmm, as I think about it... He must have given it to me for a bit less, because with Tax and License would have put it over $14,500. Anyway, the Internet Manager ROCKS! LOL!

Funny thing about this whole car shopping thing... I only had just a few particulars that I wanted... A car that was an Automatic, had air conditioning, and could be any color except red.

Well James, (The Internet Manager), told me that he had 15 Spectra's to choose from at the sale price that he quoted me, and I said "Cool!" Well, we get there, and what do I see, all the cars were in ... RED! LOL! Just my luck!

Well at least it's not candy apple red... it's in between a maroon and a true red so I can live with it, but this has been how it's been going for me. You would not have believed all the little things that have been getting in my way of getting this car. Let's put it this way... if it were to go wrong, it has. That's why it has taken sooo long for me to FINALLY get a car. Geesh! LOL!

Ok, enough about that... sorry... didn't mean to ramble.

Poddy! I just LOVED the Obama Party Jeep!
Too funny!

And I Love the Shopping Thief Seagul too!
Where on Earth do you find these things! Just LOVE them!!!

MyrnaLynne, Yes, Maggie's Bday is right near Mr. ML Jr's and my No.2 son's Bday, all within days apart of one another!

So, what are you going to get Mr. ML Jr. for his Bday? Any idea's? I still don't know what to get my No.2 son yet. Probably something boring like some shirts and some pants for work. He could always use those. And maybe some gift certifs at his favorite bookstore too. He's such an avid reader.

I hope Everyone enjoys their LONG Weekend!

Hugs to All,
Wen

YAY to Wen for the smart car shopping! We found that too - you never look at the sticker on the lot, because it's like several thousand dollars higher than the price they are advertising it online (closer to the 'real' price). I told you about that old Subaru we looked at, was priced $12,500 I think, and they started haggling (with themselves) down and down frantically, but MLette didn't want to be rushed - next day we looked online and it was $8,300!

I wish you could buy cars without dealing with salespeople (or the 'money guys') at all, just like, I don't know, pick them out of a catalog online, like books at Amazon! Although we met a couple of nice car dealers (one even kind of cute - ahem), but we also met some that were awful, in various ways, from not being interested in waiting on us/showing us anything to blowing stinky cigar smoke in our faces! The guy MLette ended up buying her car from was a very nice young guy (whose wife was having a baby any minute) but then the money guy was a total buffoon/really really annoying!

LOL, MLette didn't want red either - "too flashy." Her taste is so much more refined than mine - the brighter the better with me! LOL! I always look like the circus just rolled into town. (In fact, the shorts I'm wearing today sort of look like a circus tent...)

Anyway MAZEL TOV that you have new wheels and many miles of happy motoring. Can't beat tires for life and that kind of coverage either! Congrats! A brand new car too! WOW!

Ended doing a whole lot of nothing today - we were going to see a movie, but it was such a gorgeous day outside, I hated to spend it inside. So, what did I do - spend it inside (when I wasn't walking the dog). Fell asleep, doing some laundry while the sun is still shining/wind blowing. Mr ML got tired of waiting for me to decide and went to play basketball. Or maybe he planned to play all along - he usually does weekend afternoons.

Oh well, holiday weekend (and extra day off) this week so - more chances to do stuff! Or not! LOL!

Mr ML Jr said he has a lead on a job - in Chicago! One of his online gaming friends. We'll see if anything comes of that one. Chicago! This is a guy who doesn't like to go to the corner store for a bottle of milk by himself.

Thanks MyrnaLynne! I still can't hardly believe it myself that I own a new car! What a long road getting here, but I did get here. LOL!

Oh, and I forgot to mention, it's fully loaded! All electric, with CD player, and even has keyless entry! Just happened to come with the car by luck.

Lainie is thrilled beyond belief... as she's the most excited about it. Which is funny because up until now, she's been poker face about it! LOL! But now that it's real, she's bursting with excitement! LOL! She's funny.

No.2 son has been pretty much poker face about it too, but yesterday when he was showing it off to his best friend, he was smiling away. That cracked me up! LOL!

No.1 son came by to see it, and he was Laughing his A$$ off at me because the color was Red. He knows how I feel about Red, but That's HIS favorite color so He LOVES the car! LOL!

Like I said, it's not abnoxious red... it's not so bad... (notice how I'm trying to convince myself?) LOL!

Ok, enough about that!

I've heard some sad news... Stephanie Meyer is NOT going to publish the 'Twilight's' 5th book of Edward's POV after all!!!

It's because her unfinished copy had been leaked to the internet, so she's scraping it.

Here's the link...
Internet leak brings end to US cult book series | Books | The Observer

I wish she changes her mind down the road.

I'm glad you had a relaxing day. You work really hard so you need that every once in a while!

MOTHER has decided that she wants to take us all out to dinner tonight, so that will be nice, I suppose. Haven't done that in awhile.

Just hopes she can behave herself! She's very hard of hearing and speaks her mind, very loudly, without regards to whomever might be listening as she's critical about everyone and everything! (cringe)

Hugs to All,
Wen

Some jerk always has to come along and ruin things for everybody else! I'm really sorry she's not writing the last 'Twilight' book (I love the way Edward talks). But maybe the leak is an excuse, as the reviews for the final book were pretty scathing and a lot of fan criticism, so maybe she figured 'the heck with it.' I think she's being a bit of a drama queen but hey, if she wasn't a drama queen, she couldn't write books like that! The creative process is a delicate thing.

Very cute how proud your family is about the car! Hey, you've been driving the old one forever, so a brand new fancy set of wheels for Mom is a pretty big occasion!

Sometimes you get stuff you don't want (like a red color). MLette and I got sunroofs and we are both sunroof haters, but that's what the cars we got happened to come with.

I think the point of roofs over your head is not to have holes in them! (I feel the same way about skylights in houses).
* **

Oh gosh, I went to Stephenie Meyer's website, and she's posted a draft of that new book that fans can read - it's 264 pages long! I read about 90 pages last night. It's good. I hate reading online but what can you do? I think I know how I'm going to spend the rest of my long weekend.

MyrnaLynne, Yes, I had heard that she had posted part of it, but hadn't gotten to her website to check it out. Thanks for the head's up! I will def be checking it out later!

Oh, and I Love the way Edward talks too! Ah, where's MY Edward? (sigh)

Oh, my niece Shannon, (the one that I posted her Graduation Picture), well she's almost finished with the 'Twilight' Series... only 30 or so pages to go. She's stalling because she doesn't want it to end! LOL! But I know how she feels.

She's such a kid after my own heart. She loves most things that I do, and we have been having so much fun talking about 'Twilight'. It's been so nice!!!

Just by chance that my Bro' had mentioned that she was reading 'Twilight' and that's all it took, because I had emailed her about the series, but she's terrible about reading her emails... takes forever for her to look at them... sometimes weeks go by before she checks them. (sigh)

But when I found out, I just called her and she was so excited to learn that I had read the Series and we talked and talked and talked about it.

So both you and MLette ended up with Sunroofs and you despise them?! I guess we all have to live with what we have thrown at us, but we do live with it... Like my RED... but there are worse things in life, right?

I realize that being upset about a silly thing such a color of a car is well down right, um, silly! I love the car regardless!

Thanks Poddy! Yes, the more it sinks in, the more excited I get! LOL! And the color is growing on me. It's really not that bad. LOL! I just TG it's NOT fire engine Red! LOL! No, it's a do-a-ble Red.

And Yes, the Internet Manager Is the Way to go! You'll Always get the Best Price because they automatically give you Invoice Price, and that Cuts Out Salemen Commission right then and there since there is NO SALESMEN to have to Deal with TG!!!!!! NO Games, just one person, and it's actually enjoyable to purchase a vehicle!

We went out to dinner last night as MOTHER had planned, and she behaved herself, pretty much, except when it came to No.2 son's forgotten meatballs. (We went to our favorite Italian Restaurant)

Anyway, the waitress forgot his meatballs, and he said that it was Ok, that he wanted to start eating right away and didn't want to wait... well MOTHER wouldn't let it go!

She flagged the waitress down and began complaining about the forgotten meatballs (while No.2 son tried to crawl under the table!... kidding!) But he sure did cringe, and said it was fine...

Well the waitress apologized all over the place and got his meatballs right away and MOTHER was Very Pleased with herself that she got to make waves, so to speak. (sigh)

Love the Ani! LOL! So cute!!! Happy puppy, all smiles riding with Master, or is it Mistress?. Anyway, really cute Ani!!!

Gosh, I was looking thru' my 'to do lab slips' and discovered that I have labs due for my next appt with my Reg Dr. (which is Fri!) I didn't realize it was so soon! So that means I have to go have labs done this Tuesday, (tomorrow).

UGH! I have to Fast too, at least 12hrs. Double Ugh!
So No food, just water after 8pm tonight, and I'll have my labs done at 8am tomorrow morning. With the way I sleep, or actually not sleep, it's going to be a looooong night. (sigh)

Well, I hope Everyone is having a Great Day!

Hugs to All,
Wen

LOL, I just finished reading 'Midnight Sun' or the first 264 pages of it. It goes up to right before he takes Bella to the woods and shows her how sparkly he is. Gosh that story is magical - I read it until about 12:30 last night and started in this morning and been reading until now. And now it's done... again!
Actually it seems pretty stupid to re-tell the whole book series, just from another perspective, but it definitely is as readable as the other ones!

My niece loves Twilight too, but unfortunately is busy starting college and doesn't really want to chat about it. I wish I could get my family to read it, but it's too much 'chick lit' for the boys and, well, MLette doesn't want to read it. I think she shys away from anything I get too fannish about. Like Roswell - she watched it with me for awhile, but when I went ga-ga- over it, she lost interest!

Speaking of losing interest, we got the DVD of season 4 of Entourage and I couldn't even sit thought it. When they get too foolish, I get uncomfortable and get up and leave the room! So I got up and left and ended up not watching them.

Even Adrian Grenier's cuteness couldn't make me watch it.

I wish I knew how to copy that ani - my friend has 2 dogs who look like that one on the back of the motorbike and she'd get such a kick out of it. Too cute! Gosh, dogs sure put up with a lot from their humans, don't they?

Poddy's right, most people find obnoxious old people amusing - as long as they arent' related to them. One family had sort of an Alzy mother who always came to Passover and she was a riot, saying the funniest stuff. Wouldn't have been that amusing if she'd been my mother though. She passed away recently. Funny woman, reminded me a bit of my grandmother.

Glad Mother got the meatballs. My dad can be very demanding at restaurants - he wants what he wants. He likes his soup HOT, that's a big one with him, wants it really really HOT. I don't think it's too much to ask to be given what you ordered, if you're nice about it. If you're too mean about it, they just spit in your food or whatever, back in the kitchen!

Red does seem like a safe color, noticeable (not in a bad way). Sorry about the doctor tests and fasting. Oh, that's so tough.

Guess I should go do something, as I've been sitting here reading all morning, as still as a vampire.

Hey all!!

Had a day out with my sister on Sunday. She has started her National Service today (her 2nd year) so we thought we'll just go out and have some fun… so we went and of course we also shopped (was really impossible to avoid that). I found a nice cute shirt and my sister found a hat and a skirt she loved. It was a nice day. Then we had lunch at our favorite restaurant.

Then yesterday my mom was home. Well for half of the day… she went with my grandma and her sister (my mom's aunt) to take care of their eyes (both are after the 1st Cataract surgery) and they're both are ok… I just wish it wasn't my mom who had to run around with them both… but I guess she's cool with it.

ML, sorry to hear about your dog! I hope it's nothing too serious… doesn't it mean you have to go out with him a lot more? Or are you just letting him walk in the yard?

Sorry they cancelled that knee appointment.

Happy to hear your dad is doing so well since his stroke! And that's great he's taking care of himself. That's great to hear!

Glad to hear the Evil Chapter is all done with (and I hope it'll stay that way!) I just hope all of the new stuff won't be as complicated and as exhausting as that was.

Sorry to hear there won't be another book. Must be so annoying!

Wen, to you mom! It must be really hard to have that going on. It's very hard to lose a friend not to mention 2. And I'm sorry to hear she's driving you crazy at this time. Can't be easy with hanging on to you like that. Anyway… happy to hear she's back home now.

It was a Bronze medal that Israel won… but thank you for the up-great.

Thanks for the extra Fasting info.

My grandma does some annoying things too… but I don't really understand her (and she doesn't really understand me – which makes me angry even though I know it's not really her fault) so most of the bickering going on is between my mom and her… I guess in some way they just become child-like as once they pass a certain age… which means the children have to step in and turn into parents… odd…

Happy to hear you enjoyed Twilight too… I think I should remember this series of books… maybe when I'll get a credit card (assuming that will actually happen some day) I buy them… maybe….

Congrats on the new Kia! I like their cars! Have fun with it! That Internet Manager thing sounds really great! I wonder if we have those over here too… I never heard about them before… something for me to check out.

That's cool you and your niece are both enjoying Twilight! Always nice to find someone close to talk to about those kind of things.

Happy to hear your mom behaved on the dinner… well at least son no. 2 got meatballs….

Hope those test will come out ok.

podmommy, I'm so sorry to hear that about the little girl! I hope she'll be able to pull out of it!

about that Obama/Hilary/and co. gif.!

That makes sense… I see it in my family with my dad… most of the family (cosines and uncles and aunts) laugh about him yelling at a middle of a meal because they kinda expect it while I just want to hide under the table. I guess as long as people don't have to live with the trouble maker they're ok with it.

Sorry about the lost post. That is never fun!

Have fun at Viv's…. as much as you can.

Oh Prison Break season 4 started last night (and yep I already saw the 1st 2 episodes)…. I'm not too sure how I feel about this 4th season… I loved the 1st three but I'm not too sure about this one… I guess time will tell…

all

Thanks, Poddy it was even easier than that - I right clicked copy and then pasted into the Email and there is was! It was a big file, though - I hope it doesn't clog up her email.! (I can tell when it's big by how long it takes to send sometimes)

Sorry about the lost post thing - that's so frustrating. My dad has that trouble a lot with AOL and emails - he's not the fastest typist, and AOL gives you so many minutes and then BOOM, disconnects you and you lost what you were typing. Had that happen to me, when I was sending an email from a friend's house using her AOL.

James Taylor - good music! :> Hope things go okay at Viv's.

Great news! We just got back from the vet and there's no sugar in his urine so - not diabetes! (Don't ask how I managed to get a sample! LOL!)
They are doing lab tests and checked him over and the vet will call tomorrow if they find anything. Maybe it's just middle age? Fingers crossed it nothing bad! He said sometimes they get into a neurotic type of drinking and peeing more, but I don't see this dog as the neurotic type - he's pretty mellow.

He lost a couple of pounds too - probably from having Mr ML Jr home during the day, so he's not just sleeping all day (well, sleeping, barking at the mailman, sleeping, barking at anybody who walks by the house, etc).

Big relief - I really couldn't see myself giving this dog shots every day. The vet agreed that wouldn't be easy (as he had him muzzled and had a vet tech holding him in a wrestling hold so he could examine him and take blood). Nice dog, but doesn't like stuff done to him! I told the vet it took 3 of us to clip his nails! LOL!

Forgot to wake up my son early enough to get him to go to the vet with me and help, but I managed by myself. He was willing to come and help, he just was asleep (who knows how late he stays up?) and I waited too long to wake him up - no point stressing him out at the last minute. He doesn't do rushing around very well, and it would have just made us late to the vet. MLette was up, but she had to go to work.

VB nice day with your sister (of course shopping is involved). I hope her National Service goes well. She doesn't have to fight in the Army, does she?

Well, it's nice your mother helps her mother and aunt with doctor visits. That's what family is for, I guess, to help you out when you need it.

Enjoy Prison Break. The shows are slowly coming back but there aren't that many I'm excited to see again. I don't want to watch any of the new ones - one sounds worse than the next! I was excited about that HBO new vampire show, until I read more about it. It sounds very silly. Plus we don't get HBO.

LOL, when we went out to eat at the Italian restaurant, they were playing different Italian music, and this very lively dancing type music came on, and I started rocking out and waving my napkin around, like dancing, and totally cracked MLette up. Somehow I think I might be turning into the embarrassing relative to take to the restaurant!

We were going to an amusement park today - lucky we checked online first, and found out they are only opened weekends in September (before we drove up to New Hampshire)! So Mr ML Jr and I went to see 'Wall-e' instead - nice nice movie. I think he liked it too, although with a matinee, there weren't many people there and there was a dad there with noisy little kids saying stuff out loud all though the movie: "Look, he's putting on his SHOES!"
