I just got home from a great concert...better than I thought it would be! Melissa Manchester....she was SO good. Her voice and personality the orchestra and her musicians....really amazing. Surprised she was here in OC but our Music Peir gets some big talent....I need to start taking advantage of it cause it is so easy to get to rather than go to a big city. Just had to share

You know me… I just have to babble.

ML, well each and every one of us likes to watch different things… my dad is into sports (usually), I like the drama and comedy shows, my brother is into whatever and my sister is mostly into Spanish soap operas… so we just have to find a way to get along… oh yea and I forgot my mom… she watches maybe one TV show though out the week and news once in a while.

We just had a blast laughing at each other and my mom actually offered that we'd go once a month and just have fun. I'm all for it but I don't know if it will actually happen. We do have a bawling hall around here somewhere… we'll see.

People for some reason like to take the more strict way when it comes to religion… it's like they believe G-D will love them more if they do that… but then sometimes it makes no sense what-so-ever.

People like that make me sad.

Thanks we're pretty proud too.

It seems like wind surfing is one of the things Israeli Athletes are good at. We got a Gold medal at the 2004 Olympics. Thanks for the cheering!

I don't know. I love the fact I have a lot of stuff to wear both in winter and summer. I'm not much of a boots person but other then that I have enough… it doesn't mean I'll stop shopping anytime soon.

I hope you're done with that Evil Chapter once and for all. I hope they won't need any more changes done on it.

I actually love Tshirts! I do have other type of shirts but on a daily basis I wear only Tshirts…. Well maybe that'll change with time.

I keep planning on buying sneakers like those… well not exactly but sort-of… I hope I'll be able to do that soon…

I remember learning about those things in school. I think Jeremiah (the prophet) talked a lot about that. Because at those times people acted holly and good on the out side but did bad things behind closed doors, so he kept saying that G-D doesn't want us to act like that but be good on the inside. That that is the important thing to do.

Interesting about the NT fasting. I just never knew fasting was mentioned there at all. I never thought about it as a way to communicate with G-D. You see according to Judaism G-D doesn't want us to fast at all but he's telling us to do so in our best interest. If it's for forgiveness in Yom Kipur or in memory of something that's important to us (well the 2nd part I have some reservations about…). Still very interesting. I think a person has to have a very strong faith to actually decide and fast on his/her own. Thanks for the explanation.

Sad news here in OC.....neighbors grandaughter diagnosed with a brain tumor

finding out today if it's cancer....the mom is in the middle of a nasty divorce and she has 2 other young kids....tragic.

Yeh, sorry about all the Bible talk. I think there was some other verse about being all holy and fasting, and then going home and cheating people in business or whatever, that no point to fasting and pretending to be good, and then going back to living your life the way people should not behave/being a bad person.

Yeh, that humble thing is hard, when you're as great as all of us are!

We get those Spanish soaps on a couple of Spanish TV channels here - they look very interesting and dramatic - except for the whole not understanding any Spanish thing!

We watched a Spanish game show once, celebrities (we didn't know) trying to sing songs (we didn't know either). Too funny.

Kind of like riding home the other day, two Asian women next to me were having a big chat - I think it was in Chinese. Listening as hard as I might, I had no idea what they were saying, but I enjoyed the sound of it. Although I did catch "public school" and "U Mass" in there! Still wish I had one of those Universal Translator thingies like Star Trek, so I could eavesdrop in many languages!

Wearing my new Twilight t-shirt today, but with a vest over it, so it's semi incognito.

Oh I forgot to add 'House' to the list of TV shows I plan to watch again this season. We all still like that pretty much, although I guess we were getting kind of tired of him and his nastiness.

Eureka is pretty silly but likeable. But they killed off one of the major characters last week!

That was a surprise. Wonder if he's gone-gone, or if they will do some time/space thing and bring him backsomehow (it is a scifi type show about a town full of genius inventors and science types).

Happy Wednesday JOFS and JITs! Halfway through the week! I brought in pix of MLette and the car, but I need to upload them - need to get some work done before I can do that! Busy! (Argh, while I'm writing this, another galleyproof just showed up to proofread - I still have one left from the last batch/working on that now!)

Car pix came out sort of dark. Here's MLette with a map of our state made of vegetables at the Marshfield Fair, and a really big pumpkin

It weighed 800+ lbs!

I had to look at that pic many times......MLette is a chip off your block. Gosh she looks like you!! I kept looking and thinking you posted the wrong pic. and it was you. She is so pretty just like her mom.You are young looking and dress young and I'm still not sure that isn't you

Does Mr MLjr look like his dad? That map is cute and the day looks so sunny. Great picture.

Yes, everyone is always telling us how much MLette and I look alike - chip off the old block, clone, etc! LOL! I don't see it that much (to me, she looks like herself), although one time she dressed up like a hippie for something and had on my old fringed suede vest and a headband and I was going through the photos and said "There's me... no wait! That's not me!"

She's a sweet girl with a very good heart and a smart kid.

Although she has her father's bum eyes, long waist, and wide foot (and height)! And Mr ML Jr looks a lot like his dad, but is built more like me, with the broad shoulders (except with the guy parts of course, and her with the gal parts - ahem). They're a mix! And he laughs like my brother, which is very weird. His hair is grows just like his Dad's too (I know, because I cut both their hair). Which is good - if it was like my Dad's - he'd be going bald already!

One of the Kyle fans went to a screening in Toronto of some little movie he and his buddies made - Kyle wasn't there (probably working) but his family was there and she saw his people - said he probably looks more like his mother. Just like Jason.

I remember the first time I saw how pretty (and slim) his mother was! I was so depressed!

Why couldn't he have a frumpy normal looking mother like most people?! I remember I went right down to the cafeteria and drown my sorrows in ice cream!

podmommy, my sister definitely caught on some Spanish from watching all of those Spanish soaps. She uses certain words on a daily basis. It's actually nice because I'm learning another language with her doing that… not that I can actually have a conversation in Spanish but I know some of the basics.

It's like with Yom Kipur. G-D doesn't really need us to fast. He's asking us to fast to make it more spiritual for us. It's basically to help us concentrate on the forgiveness and the holly things. I know it doesn't really make sense… I might be explaining it wrong… I just remember hearing it somewhere and it just made sense. I mean why would it matter to G-D if we eat or not? He cares about us being completely within the act of asking forgiveness and giving up temptation (like food and drink) for a day helps us do just that.

I'm so sorry to hear about the girl in OC! I hope she'll get over that! It must be so hard for the mother.

I wouldn't call Spanish soaps interesting… but they're definitely dramatic. I think the one good thing there is the fact that after a certain number of eps it's done… and then some new story begins. I mean a soap with over 1,000 eps is just too much in my book.

I remember that too. I mean she looks amazing! I wish I'll look like that after 4 babies… but I don't even look like that now so I doubt that will happen.

Once I was at school near a computer with a friend and I showed her a pic of Jason with his mom and she just didn't believe she was his mom. She said she looks more like his girlfriend.

LOL, I saw a guy on the subway yesterday who was as fat as that pumpkin!

I was just hoping that he wouldn't try to sit down!

Absolutely nothing to tell you gals this morning!

Just made a vet appointment for the dog for next week - he's suddenly peeing a lot and I think there's something going wrong with him.

All I can think of is diabetes - that makes you drink more and pee more. Poor guy. He's not having any accidents or anything, but man, he sure can 'go' - and go and go.

He's not that old a 'man' yet, he's only maybe 7.

worry worry... Oh well, at least I've been saving up 'dog insurance' money, just in case. LOL, a dog with his own bank account.

Have to keep this guy going, because Mr ML said this is absolutely the last pet. hmph.

Hi Everyone!

Sorry to be so MIA... just been busy with R/L... Dr appts for both MOTHER and I, and MOTHER has been staying with me for the past few days because she's been extremely depressed.

Her best friend at her complex passed away.

Then one of her dearest and oldest friends passed away too, and she's now thinking about her own mortality in a BIG way. (sigh)

And with her staying with me, she WILL NOT let me out of her sight!!! UGH!!! In other words, She's driving me right out of my freakin' mind!!!

She's not sleeping well either, so as much as I don't sleep well, she's up too and I have absolutely NO alone time. (sigh)

Right now, for the Grace of God, she's actually sleeping, and I can finally post!

Vero, I did want to also say about Fasting, that I also Fast along with Prayer for the healing of a loved one, or friend, or someone that I know that is in need, as Prayers with Fasting are truly strong, and are answered more often than not.

And of course the Fasting has to be done in secret, with no one knowing, like the Bible says... no boasting and all that, which makes sense.

But of course you can let the world know that you are Praying for the sick person, that's not a problem.

I just wanted to tell you about some of the other aspects of Fasting.

btw, I'm so glad you had a nice time on your vacation!

And am so glad you and your family had fun Bowling! Yes, bowling is fun whether one is good at it or not.

Gosh, my family and I haven't been bowling in years, but when we used to go, we did have lots of fun. And of course my kids were all about competition... all three of them! Funny how they are All very good bowlers!

I, on the other hand, am not a good bowler, so let just say, we laugh a lot when I try, with me laughing the hardest! LOL!

And Congrats on the Gold Medal!

Poddy, I'm so sorry to hear about Big Viv's declining health.

Sending you HUGS, because I know it's so hard.

And I'm so sorry to hear about the sick little girl.

I hope a miracle happens in her life.

MOTHER is declining in her own way too... Getting more forgetful by the day; Repeats herself serveral times over and over without realizing that she's told me these things many times over; and she keeps misplacing things, and sometimes she finds them, but more often does not. But when she does, she finds them in the weirdest places!

Now she's accusing her friends of stealing from her because she can't find things. (sigh) So she doesn't trust her friends anymore, and is depressed over that. (sigh)

Enough about that!

I just LOVE the Ocean... I guess it helps fuel that love when you practically grew up on it. (Well, the bay at least... that's where I grew up, mostly by the bay, or always in view of it anyway. But we went to the Ocean a lot too!)

I miss smelling the Ocean air every day, like I did as a kid. Oh well, maybe I can retire by the Ocean someday.

I love the pictures that Jason takes with his Mom. You can really see the love he has for her in them. He's such a good son.

And that Pumpkin is really a Monster! Our Fairs display Pumpkins like that too! It's amazing that those grow from the same seeds as normal pumpkins grow from!

I hope that Evil Chapter is gone for good now! (Finger's Crossed!) Tell me, do you have nightmares about it?

Well, I finished the 'Twilight' Series and I enjoyed it so much!!! I don't know why peeps were up in arms about the last book?! I don't understand what they wanted???
Now I'm sad that it's over.

It was a good ride! (sigh)

I hope Elmo is Ok. Our pets are just like our kids! We worry just as much about them!

Wow, Wen you zipped throught those 'Twilight' books fast!

Glad you liked them, too. I miss the books now, too, having the next story to look forward to - although I'm still re-reading some of them. I hope she writes a 5th book - she was thinking about telling the story from Edward's side of it - but maybe she'll sit home and count her millions instead.

I know that when you're done with writing a story, you're really done and don't want to go back to it. Tanya Huff wrote the Blood Ties novels years and years ago, and has written various series since, and even though they did a TV show of it and it was popular again - she'd said all she had to say about those characters/that story. Stephenie Meyer wrote a sci-fi story, but for some reason, it doesn't appeal to me in the least. Go figure.

Ugh, I saw a bit about 'True Blood' the HBO vampire thing - talk about ripping off 'Twilight' - the girl can read minds - but not the guy (vampire's) mind. Hmm, sound familiar/slightly switched around? It's supposed to be very Southern and Gothic and, well, we don't get HBO anyway. I don't love all vampire stuff. Never cared much for Anne Rice's version or that movie with Brad Pitt.

LOL, have you seen Brad Pitt in that commercial for whatever new movie where he plays a really dumb personal trainer guy - funny. Don't think I want to see that one, but it's fun to see him being a doofus/acting. (Don't something besides babysitting/procreating with Angelina - ahem.)

I love the ocean too, spent a lot of summers there as a kid - which is funny because we never go to it now, even though it's close by. Mr ML is not an ocean person (and I'm not a big sun and sand person). I told Mr ML next summer I want to go swimming (preferably at a lake). Years can go by without even putting a toe in the water (aside from the shower, that is!)

Well, I made a vet appointment for the dog for Tuesday morning - since I have a doctor appointment for my knee Tuesday afternoon, I figured I'd just make the holiday a little longer (if 2 doctor appointments can be considered a holiday). The dog has been so healthy and trouble-free up until now, I guess it couldn't last like that forever. sigh.

HUGS to Wen and Poddy about the Mums. That's very typical (and hard to deal with), old people misplacing stuff and getting suspicious and accusing everybody of moving/stealing things on them.

She's always been a handful and doesn't seem to be getting any easier with age!

Yesterday was the anniversary of my Dad's stroke! Boy, that was a fast year. Glad he's still here and in good shape. Probably better shape than last year, as it seems like he spent the year going to various doctors and having various things fixed and checked. He wasn't taking such good care of himself when he was keeping an eye on my Mom all the time. His worst problem now is that he's kind of bored - a lot of his neighbors go North in the summer, so summers are quiet down there in condo-land.

I think it's very nice when people say they are praying for you, for whatever reason! I'm still positive to this day that MLette's recovery was speeded along by the prayers of all my friends.

Nope, no lingering after-effects from the Evil Chapter. But now Mrs Boss said yesterday the huge pile of new policies I had to do for her awhile back - they're all wrong! Will all have to be redone (once she figures out how they are supposed to be).

I don't know how they put up with all this bureaucratic nonsense to practice medicine. Oh well, suppose they need it or unlicensed unsupervised people would be doing plastic surgery in the basement - oh wait, they caught some people from Brazil here were doing that!

she's been operated on and will have chemo for 3 yrs

can't do radiation cause she is so young.....now she needs some prayers! ML I agree...I've seen the power of prayer too.....so so so glad your Mlette had such an outcome

and Wen was so right in her observation how Mlettes sweetness shines through in her face

thank goodness there are gentle souls like herself to care for the "special" ppl of the world.
