Hi Poddy!

I LOVE that Picture sooo much too! Thanks so much for posting it! He's sooo Beautiful!!!

No, the book doesn't have a sad ending... the opposit actually... it just has a sad middle. Anyway, you should enjoy the books if you choose to read them. I REALLY am enjoying them quite alot!!!

Ah, you are like my kids in the sense of a multi-book reader too! LOL! I couldn't do it... but yet, I could read all these different fanfics at the same time... go figure! LOL!

I hope you have a Wonderful Day!!!

hugs,
Wen

Argh - wrote a great big post from work this morning before I left (MLette and I worked from 8-10 and then went home! Woohoo) and the computer ate it - didn't go through.

Of course I didn't get out quick enough before Mr Boss called and said "Do you want to finish that chapter today?" and I said "No! I'm leaving early - in a few minutes!" LOL! He still has no idea what they want him to revise on that chapter - he was just going to rewrite it randomly and hope it did the trick! Oh, don't get me started on that... I gave him the editor's phone number (in Switzerland) before I left - I hope he reaches the guy and figures out what the heck he's doing!

Yes, Poddy that picture is exactly the type of guy I'm attracted to! He has such a beautiful nose, too. Everything about that guy is so beautiful.

Not sure what the deal with Ian S. is - he started out pretty well, with movies and TV shows, and now he seems to be doing terrible movies made in foreign countries and a TV show on HBO that lasted 6 episodes (read a scathing review of it). Mystery to me. I don't think he's an overly bright fellow (unlike Jason). Or maybe he's just too beautiful to be taken seriously? He was only on Lost for the first season and then they killed his character off (and I stopped watching Lost soon after).

I don't think I could read more than one book at a time! I don't know how you guys do that!

The 2nd 'Twilight' book is sort of a sad period the story goes through - but it ends up pretty well, and then goes on for 2 more books. It's quite a ride.

We visited Aunt Millie last night and were out soo late

That's why I wanted to stay home today, but MLette wanted to go in for a few hours and make a little extra $. And then Mrs Boss showed up too! I guess they came back from their vacation today and she was trying to get caught up for the coming week or something. Oh well, they were off for 2 weeks, I hope they won't begrudge me a 6 hr vacation!

I didn't know who that Corey guy was either, just saw him in that one show and wondered who he was/he did a good job/he was good looking. There are a million young actors out there in the world. I think one of Ontarios major exports is handsome young actor-boys.

Haven't decided about the Wii yet - will have to broach the subject with his dad - his sister already voted 'No', thought it was a bad idea. Why make his unemployment more enjoyable? sigh

No, Tatooist wasn't a great film.

Poddy you are so brave to watch a 3 month old! I would be so nervous. Of course I don't have a lot of experience with babies (2, to be exact, that's it). :>
They are awfully precious, but generaly when I hold them, the cry!

Poor Mr ML is still slogging through his 100 best books project (he's got about a dozen to go - he's been reading these books for Years now! He's a Capricorn, what can I say? They put their mind to something - they do it.) He's reading "Ulysses" now - and absolutely hating it - but keeps on reading it. I just don't get that. If I don't like a book, I'm not going to read it, just because some 'expert' says it was a good book.

Life is way too short to read books you hate (or wear uncomfortable shoes).

Mr ML Jr had a job interview today (an agency, not a job). He was running around the house last night like a chicken with no head, trying to find his suit, the pants to his suit, a shirt, etc. He thought he needed to go out and buy a new suit, but his suit still fits him fine. He was all in a dither about going to this place downtown.

Going to post this and hope it goes this time!

hey.........sorry about the dreaded lost postML hate that !!!
Yes JB = Well we all have our gifts....one of mine is babies/kids..... I think because I just truly like them and hence they like me.....or maybe I am a "baby whisperer" It's true though one can be great with your own kids...and not so much with others. I for sure don't feel anything at all what I felt for my kids but I remember the "techniques" that worked plus my body is soft!

Had a lovely(last before Viv returns) dinner out on the porch with podad...he's watching the diving and I am just popping on......I'm kinda interested a bit in the Olympics but I'm getting bored with it now.....although the opening was great....I'm ready for the closing deal

Michael Phelps with the frog-head! OH, that is just too funny! His feet are definitely like frog-flippers.

I called everybody in to see it just now and they all looked at the picture - looked at me - didn't even crack a smile. Guess you had to be here...

I'm sudddenly bored with the Olympics too - I think one week of Olympics would be plenty. Why do they have to have quarter finals and semifinals and finals? Why don't they just have one race for each thing? I guess too many people entered.

LOL, I'm pretty soft and squishy too - who knows, maybe I'd do better with babies now? I haven't had any occasion to hold any of them, probably since I had mine, though. Not much practice.

We just went up to Trader Joe's and bought a whole bunch of strange and potentially yummy stuff. That always happens - we go there for one or two items, end up spending $60-70!

Job interview was for a technical temp agency (he got lost, he was late, he had to wait hours with a mob of other applicants anyway, so it didn't matter) - sigh. They gave him a bunch of tests to take, to see if he knew anything about computer stuff (yes and no) Oh well, glad he went.

Ended up not doing anything with my afternoon off. Thought MLette and I would go do something but then the BF showed up and swooped her away with him. Oh well, I took that nap I needed...

* * *
Sunday:

Happy Birthday to Alex O'Loughlin and Kyle Schmid, my two fave vampire guys! A little hazy on how old Alex is, maybe 32? Kyle is 24 today. Hope they are both having a great day!

LOL, both guys strike me as people who like to party!

Ooo, went to the bookstore yesterday and they had 'Twilight' stuff - a t-shirt and a 2009 calendar with movie pix! I didn't get them, though. Holidays are just around the corner! ;D

We got more groceries (the rest of the stuff we needed that isn't at Trader Joe). Trader J is more of a once in a while type place, to get random exotic things (like really big chocolate bars ).

Was really happy, I caught a bit of the 'rythmic gymnastics' in the Olympics. That's the weird stuff with the long ribbon, the ball, a rope, a hoop - I just saw the finalists twirling and tumbling and swirling and tossing that loong ribbon. It's just so pretty and artistic! I think I like it better than the vaulting and the muscular regular gymnastics.

Well at least you and I thought it was funny ML n

Darn I missed the rhythmic the only thing I really like are synchronized swimming and that...I sawone second ofthe RS on the ferry when we werebringing mom back andnoneof the other...then almost missedthe closing stuff....saw some....that wholememory tower was very cool. The guy that dreamt the opening andclosing ceramonies did a great job....mho....best I ever saw

Yea TJoes is once in a while thing, but fun(enjoy the chocolot)...I have to drive a long way to get to it so it's rare I go.

The more practice he has with interviews the better he will get. Remember Emily didn't get jobs with the first few(and it was stressful ....tests and round table Q&A with the other brainy applicants....she really was a wreck) until she got this one which was the one she really wanted. Liz went on many interviews too with her share of rejection. The right job is out there for him ,he just has to keep trying....pep talk for mom

Feeling sad for mom........we are to the point where she needs help bathing and dressing. I only have to wash her hair and back and help dry(so far) then hook her bra....and help with shirt and pants but it is sad and scary for us both to see the decline. I'm noticing her starting to shake which is new and is freaking me out because the L'dopa meds she takes only work for a set time different with everyone and I'm worrying they are stopping working. I hope not but they won't work forever. sigh

Change of topic...........Joe Biden connections.......Lizs favorit teacher from HS is best friends with Joe and their wives are best friends. On a field trip to NY to see Rent(over rated in MHO) his wife went with the teacher and his wife(and all the kids and us shaperones) and on the way back to De. Joe met us and rode back on the bus with his wife and his friends and us. That was a pretty regular guy thing to do. His sister in law is a waitress here in OC...for years at a little restaurant we go to all the time. She's really nice. De is Tiny. He lives in the neigborhood Podads sis(and his parents used to...she lives in their house now) lives in...seen his house many times also have seen him in a reastaurant there a few times and many times walking in the Memorial day parade in Newark when the kids were marching in the HS band. I do think he is a decent guy. I doubt I'll vote for them but we'll see.....I'm one of those swing voters they talk about. I'll be deciding right before I vote.

Hi everyone when you show up

Funny, after all the connection stuff with Joe Bieden, you'd say you probably won't vote for them. I bet Mr ML's relatives in Delaware are stoked he's up for VP but - who knows? I'm on the fence, too. Will be curious to see who McCain picks to run with him. If it's Romney - no way. (LOL, if it's Hilary, also no way!) I think he'd be smart to pick a woman and/or minority person but we'll see. I like both candidates/not wildly enthusiastic about either, and I'm sure either one will do a better job than Mr Bush (a trained monkey could do a better job... oops, don't get me started!)

Just think the rest of the world is watching the US, and if Obama doesn't get elected, they'll all say "Oh yeh, typical racists US, will only elect old white guys."

Watched 'Stop-Loss' which didn't help with my opinion of the state of our country, the war in Iraq, etc. Very sad and I didn't know they did this - 'stop-loss' is if a soldier's term is up and he's about to leave the military/get out, they step in and make him stay in the military and send him back to the war again (and again, and again) - against his will! Because he's 'needed.' This sounds like 'impressing sailors' the British Navy used to do in the old days (klonk them on the head, stick them on the ship - surprise, you're in the Navy!) Did that cause the War of 1812? Don't mind me, history is not my best subject (neither is math or geography). But that is obviously very wrong, to keep soldiers in against their will.

Also that film was interesting because Ryan Phillipe's so-star in that is Abbie Cornish, and that's the gal he took off with and left Reese Witherspoon. Didn't realize she was an Australian gal. Little turned up nose. Good actors in that film, 3rd Rock Boy, Gordon-Levitt and Tatum Channing, big fella. (He would have been good as Emmett in the Twilight movie, imho. Maybe he was busy so they got the other guy.) Not a great movie; not sure why. Something we don't really want to know about, I guess - war, soldiers, bad stuff.

Bosses are back, Evil Chapter is here yet again - the right version, this time, but his changes are no less mystifying. He cut out number 1 reference and his new numbers start with 2... sigh

HUGS about Mom being older and sicker Podmom and scaring both of you. It's a scary business, being old, being sick.

My poor friend just adopted an elderly dog with a bad heart and now the dog is very sick, needed surgery, might not have that long to live, etc - sigh. I don't know if they are saints or martyrs, to open their heart and homes to somebody who is going to break their hearts like this so soon.

We caught the Closing Ceremonies (mainly because Mr ML saw them flicking around the TV channels and yelled to us they were on). Yes, that Chinese guy who designed the ceremonies had some sort of amazing mind/imagination. The stuff with the British bus (I swore it was gonna transform into a robot) and the stuff about going to London next time was uber-strange. Michael Phelps was in London and they were very excited about him being there! He spoke pretty well, for a goofy guy/fish out of water. His Mom did a commercial about him as a baby (Johnson & Johnson) that was just 'awwwww'

Whole ceremonies seemed like a weird drug trip, taken without drugs (well, what I imagine a drug trip would be like -ahem). A long, strange trip dreamlike ceremony. That tower covered with people forming different stuff was.. woah!

China did a great job, I have to say, with this whole Olympic business. Then again, they spent billions on it and also had millions of people to work on it (whether they wanted to or not, I imagine). Something to be said about huge powerful dictatorships, for getting enormous projects done.

I caught some more of the rhythmic gymnastics yesterday - teams with the clubs and the hoops. Wow, pretty amazing. I guess it's big in eastern Europe. I caught a glimpse of the team with the little ropes, too. Would like to have seen the ball - I think the ball and the ribbon are the coolest. Although it is a bit circus-y, leaping through hoops and tossing clubs and all that.

LOL, I just found out Monday is Labor Day! The old 'turn the page' and find a holiday sneaking up! And I say Mr ML is calendar-impaired!

I agree...........these guys seema bit better than most polititions....hopefully.....I'll be listening to their stands on issues.

Great analogy about the stop loss thing....totally wrong!

Dang looks like I missed quite a bit....only saw the 3 actors going up the air plane steps. Maybeit's on the computer somewhere.

Viv did her new 45 min stretching tape. Big sis started it and I have to keep pushing her. She will not get dressed till like lunch time if left to herself. We have ot puch her to move/wash and stuff. If she has a thing to go to shemoves but will slide most days. We are off now to the grocery store.

Getting my Mom to wash up was one of the biggest struggles for my dad and the health aid he had come in - try bribing her with Hershey's kisses. I think a lot of older people want to get into the comfy 'house coat and slippers' routine, too, my Mom did that also. sigh. She hadn't worn anything but a housecoat for a long time.

Oh those people going up the airplane steps to nowhere was very weird! I am not too big on artistic symbolis artsy stuff (circ du soleil comes to mind).

Hey all!!!

I'm baaaack!

How are you all? I'm ok (well now... )
The vacation was great! We ate a lot drank a lot and swam a lot. The hotel was ok and everything was great... but then we came back... Apperantly I cought something over there and I was cold for the last few days. I'm better now (not all better but better), but I just hate getting a cold in the middle of the summer (or is it the end? ).

We had a Bawling Hall at our hotel so we went there one evening and had a wonderful time playing… My sister (Mika) came in 1st, my mom 2nd, I was 3rd and my brother 4th. And we're not that great so the numbers were that high. It was still fun.

Anyway all I did while I was away was to just relax and have some fun which was exactly what I did!

Off to catch up!

Came back... and since no one post I've just edited this post.

*******

Well the Olympics is finally over… it was too long… and never really sate down to watch all that much.
Congrats to all of the Americans! I heard you guys got the biggest number of medals. And with Michael Phelps getting 8 Gold ones I wouldn't be surprised.
We got a Bronze medal, yep just one… I think it was in wind surfing.

I have no idea if this will get in with in one post…. But I'll try.

ML, well I can definitely understand how Tisha B'Av is always snickering up on you. It would have probably snuck up on me too if I wasn't living here. It's much easier when you live in a society in which everyone (or almost everyone) notices things like that. Don't feel too bad about it.

You has 12.5 C last week??? That's so cold! I don't think I've ever experience a weather that cold! Though right now I wish I would have! It's pretty hot over here. We're somewhere around the 35-38 C (95-100 F) over here.

Well I can understand if bossy SIL wants to plan a head… but to 2010??? Isn't that to much? Well at least it's a cruse. I'd go and just ignore her. No matter how hard that is. People like that explode when people ignore them so I would actually enjoy that.

I hope you'll get to go to the cruse from Tampa. It makes a lot more sense to go for that one… the traveling there might be a little annoying but it will cost less and more people will be able to go so that would be great.
So you'll go to the 2010 thing and with your dad to the other one from Tampa?
When you live in such a huge country it definitely is annoying when you can't fly because someone is afraid of it… maybe he should try and get over it somehow…

Congrats on you $5 win.

I'm happy to hear you guys had a good time at the Fair and that it was a nice day.

Happy to hear MLette's birthday party was so nice. I'm glad she enjoyed herself.

Sorry to hear the Evil Chapter is here again! I was sure you were finished with it!

About 'Vampire High', I've never heard of it. I have no idea if it was aired over here. It doesn't sound familiar.

I don't think I can read more then one book at a time either… well I can but I won't really enjoy it. I'll keep thinking about the place I stopped at the other book and I wouldn't be able to concentrate on the one I would be reading… no it's one at a time for me.

That Corey guy looks familiar from some reason but I have no idea where from.

I hope that agency will help Mr. ML Jr. to get a job.

podmommy, happy you had a good time at OC with you friends and the book (not really into biographies but as long as you like it). It's always nice to have a good book to read.

It's nice to inspire someone… what kind of fasts do you have at the New Testament? I've never heard about those. Yea well at least me waxing made someone laugh…

Hope podad enjoyed his birthday cake! Sounded yummy!

That was a nice quote from Ioan about Paris Hilton and Britney and all of those young celebrities. Not too many man will go out and say something like that… now if those girls would actually listen…

Sorry to hear Emily is working so hard at the moment. I guess it's always hard when you're starting some place new… but when you're expected to do so much it's even harder. At least she has a job and she knows what she wants to do (unlike me… )

Thanks for the Jason pics in the middle. Gave me a pause. I wonder what is he doing now. I hope thinking of another project… a good one!

I'll go in the next post.... Hope that's ok...

Wen, now how can I leave for a vacation and not say bye? I have to show off about it now don't I? Just kidding.

Yea my dad can't fast now either and every time before a fast we have to make him promise us that he won't. He's afraid that G-D will be angry with him. And every time we keep explaining to him that he will be just fine. I mean G-D won't want you to do something that can get you killed. Now I already asked podmommy but I'll ask you too: I never knew about Fasts in the New Testament. When are they? What for? You girls got me curious.

Happy to hear you're enjoying those Twilight books!

You're a great daughter for helping you mom when she was down. You're a wonderful daughter. If I was having some difficulties I would let my sister and brother do all of the helping .

Sorry your mom made you watch all of those horrible shows! G-D the horror! It's just horroble when someone makes you see something you really don't want to see. I'm glad my mom doesn't make me watch her shows (not that she watches that many TV shows). We have 4 TVs in the apartment so we usually don't argue about that… well dad always find something to argue about (it's his talent really. )

Sorry about Lainie missing the Fall semester… but then I totally understand why you're sort-off happy about it.
You just have to relax and trust that everything will be ok. I'm sure you taught her well and that she'll be just fine there. And so will you!

Scottie, glad to see you're back!

belated to your dad and son! Your son's party sounded really nice.
That's pretty cool that your dad reads Twilight. Maybe he's young at heart.

That's cool that your son can get a parking permit in his school. When I was in school we couldn't get any. Only the professors and the students going for M.A.s were given those.

Well your husband is probably right… but then you don't really have to let him sink. Just let him have more space to make his own decisions…. I think…

Well that's that for now... I'll see you guys tomarrow.

Bravo VB - you win the Shout Out prize for answering all our posts from while you were away on vacation!

I had to laugh at the picture of the 4 of you each watching a different TV. We have 2 TVs - but nobody makes anybody watch stuff they don't want. Well, except for Mr ML Jr, who had his computer set up behind the sofa, in the living room, so if we are watching TV, he can turn his head and see the show - but he generally wears headphones for this crazy online game he plays - yes, they talk to each other while they play it! And it also blocks out the sound of whatever TV we are watching. But I cannot watch most of the terrible shows Mr ML likes! And he is totally bored by the shows I like.

It is pretty selfish not just to want to watch your own shows (at somebody else's house) but insist they sit and watch with you, even if the other person doesn't like that show.

Your vacation sounds very relaxing Veronic! LOL, we are all pretty bad at bowling too and don't get good scores. We haven't gone bowling in years, even though there is a little old-fashioned bowling alley just 2 or 3 blocks away from us.

Men are so stubborn about fasting. I heard of one man who was sick and couldn't fast, so he would only take a tablespoon of food or watermaybe every 4 hours, like it was medicine on a doctor's order, and not enjoy eating or anything during a fasting time!
G-d appreciates people trying to fast, but doesn't want anybody to be sick or die - Living is more important! Just like if you were starving someplace and the only food was not kosher, it would be okay to eat the not kosher food rathe than die of starvation. (Which is why my poor father had to eat pork in the Army in WW2.)

Yay to Israel for the bronze medal! I saw Israel among the contestants a few times and was rooting for them. I think I saw the Israeli team at the Closing Ceremonies, when everybody came and waved to the camera and blew kisses etc and generally was showing off like the kids most of them are!

Michael Phelps could be a country himself, he won so many medals! LOL!

I guess 12.5 C (54 F) is cold for summer but it gets much much colder here when it is winter time, sometimes even below zero (-18C). Although it usually isn't that bitter cold most of the time - but below freezing, otherwise there would be no snow and ice! Oh gosh, I am not looking forward to winter coming back. I just get comfortable with my summer clothes and what to wear, and then it's time to change again. Such a pain to have to have two whole wardrobes for winter and summer, plus all the coats and boots etc.

Although I guess with global warming, we can stay right here and pretty soon it will be a hot climate where we live. Scary thought. Although I guess there is another school that says we might be having 'global cooling' instead. Either way, things are changing and not for the better, with our climate.

Did anybody watch the Democratic Convention? After 2 weeks of the Olympics, another big 'event' especially about politics, made me run in the other direction! I would have liked to see the tribute to Mr Kennedy, though. Great that he was well enough to show up for it too. And how does he keep all that hair, with brain surgery and chemotherapy and radiation?

I agree that 2010 is way too far ahead to plan things! Or put money down on a trip. But Mr ML talked to his other (nice) sister and she plans to go (she was with us on the last cruise). If more of his sisters or brothers come, aside from the Bossy one, we probably will take that trip. It sounds fabulous (except for the bossy sister part).

Poddy mmmm - Jason in his tattoos. Just amazed me that all those tattoos are just kind of decals they stuck onto him every day. Woah, there's a job I'd love to have - Jason's tattoo applier. Working on that beautiful body every day... dream job! I think being the hair and makeup person who comes out and touches up the actor's makeup or fixes their hair would be nice too, being able to put your hands all over their face! LOL!

Evil Chapter is DONE (once again)! I fixed it up and sent it off yesterday. Crossing my fingers they will be happy with it this time and not ask him to do anymore (so I don't have to help him fix it ever again). He cut out 20 references (he was allowed 80 - he had about 120!) Would NOT listen to me about the guidelines they gave.

Oh well... free of the Evil Chapter once again! YAY!

The 'Twilight' t-shirt I designed at Zazzle showed up and it's so nice (if I do say so myself). The other one I got, with long sleeves, has the design too low - the words are rdirectly across my chest at the pointiest part, so you can't even read them! The sweatshirt I got is very cool too, will be good for Halloween/fall. But I sent for another shirt from a different place and it was so tiny, I couldn't get into it. Sending it back and getting a 'Coca-Cola' t-shirt (in Hebrew) instead. And not ordering any more silly fannish stuff for awhile!! I look terrible in t-shirts and should never buy another one as long as I live.

Cafepress has women's big sized shirts that were very stylish and flattering and fit right, but with the other places, the only size I fit into is for men, and those just don't look right (to fit over my front, they are too big everywhere else... ahem). Oh well, should be my worst problem - ugly t-shirts!

Finally found my crazy Chucks online - each side is different - celebrates the 100th anniversary of Converse I think (the 1908 part), had peace symbol, unicorns, butterflies, horses, a plant (that isn't marijuana - LOL - Jack's beanstalk?) and lots of glitter!

Love them to bits! Guy complimented me on them on the way in to work today.

Hi VB SO good to see you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Missed you bunches. Your vacation sounded great. Bowling is fun whether you're any good or not. Ditto what ML said you do get the SO award Yes Emily is very aware how fortunate she is to have a job. She isn't even complaining about anything....just greatful. Well at least your dad is gifted at something Well about NT fasting. Itis discussed quite a bit.....I am going to link a site that will show the whole text...highlighting the portion I searched. This first link is my favorite one Jesus said concerning it.....he spoke about this and prayingin the same meaning. He was saying don't be a hypocrite. If you pray and fast don't do it wanting to get praise from people but do it for the real reason which is to concentrate on the Lord....the wisdom you get from reading and praying about the scriptures and praying in true communion with Him....fasting for the purpose of taking you for a time out of this world so you can concentrate more fully on the things of the Lord.http://topverses.com/?verse=29257 this next is a quote from the Apostle Paul regarding the churchhttp://topverses.com/?verse=33396 you can use the search box on the top right and search anything in the new and old testaments..............bottom line on this topic....fasting is about communing with the Lord personally and not about the Law or about any tradition....it is not a command. For Christians the Law pointed out the need for a savior since no one can perfectly fulfill it then the new command was to love the Lord with all your heart and soul and to love your neighbor as yourself. The love your neighbor part was really radical in those times that's for sure. Well that probably was more than you bargained for :embarrassed:

Me too ML I never wear T shirts ..I feel like a football player in them ack......got to have some V under the neck to make it all look better.

ok gonna post this ....

There is also something we read on Yom Kippur, one of the prophets, that G-d doesn't want you to fast and then turn around and be a bad person, that the fast He really wants is you to do justice and love mercy and be a good person, etc. (Hm, found it, I think: Micah 6:8 -This is what the LORD requires from you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to live humbly with your G-d.)

Good point though, about not bragging about how holy you are and what a good fast you're having and how much you are suffering and make a big deal about yourself, too! "Look at me! I am soooo holy..."

Gee, this is a long day! I guess because Mrs Boss is back again (along with work to do for her too!)

'Eureka' tonight. So glad at least one show I like is back again. Decided I'm only going to watch 'Eureka', 'Eli Stone' and Kyle XY (whenever they come back). That's it - no new shows, and not even most of the old shows. Well, Eli Stone is back mid October - I think Kyle returns in January, maybe. Who knows? I never tune into ABC Family channel except to watch that!
