| Read a great book last night - and I mean I sat down and read the whole book (~300 pages)! Mr ML Jr had bought it recently and read it and said it was good. Called 'The Automatic Detective' by A. Lee Martinez - It's a very Blade Runner-esque sci fi/detective thing about a sentient robot in a messed up futuristic city trying to help some people in trouble. My son said this guy has written some other books before this one, about different things, that were also good.So that's what I did yesterday after work! What we didn't do was go out and get a birthday cake for MLette. Oh well, we'll have to get it tonight. I hung up the 'Happy Birthday' decorations this morning. Poor kid got home soooo late again - had to take another patient to the hospital and be there for hours and hours. She shares her birthday with Bill Clinton and Fred Thompson, Tipper Gore, Gerald McRaney, and somebody else I just saw in a magazine but now can't remember (d'oh). Hmm checking - the Angela's Ashes guy Frank McCourt, Willie Shoemaker the jockey, Renee Richards the transexual person, Diana Muldaur, Lil' Romeo, and Matthew Perry from friends! Quite a random assortment!Well, I just read that more people have their birthday in August than any other month. Guess that's because around Thanskgiving and Christmas people say "Hmm, wouldn't it be nice to have kids?" ![]() My two vampire boys Alex O'Loughlin (Moonlight) and Kyle Schmid (Blood Ties) both have birthday coming up Sunday, Aug 24. Kyle's going to 24; not so sure about Alex - he's 30something but reports vary; maybe 32 or 34? ;p Oh well, I guess they are both 'former vampires' at this point. Think it's very cool they both have the same birthday and were both playing in vampire TV shows at the same time. But I'm easily impressed!Bummer about the spacing key Poddy. Always something! Boss's secretary came back from vacation today - still no sign of the Boss, but she's coming back soon. Oh and Mr Boss called about the Evil Chapter again yesterday - it's ba-a-ck! Well, almost back - they want him to make changes on it (hmm, couldn't have anything to do with being 3,000 words too long and 30 references too many - ahem). The Chapter That Will Not Die! He had me send it to him (again) - just sent it to him last week, both by email and a hard copy, but of course he can't find it now. ![]() * * * Next day... MLette's birthday party was very nice! Ice cream cake and tiny cupcakes and lots of cards. She really seemed very happy with everything. The boyfriend was there. Mr ML got her some flowers while we were picking up the cake - he was going to get her a book, but his choice in gift books has generally been disaster (Milton Berle jokes, anyone? ). sigh.Evil Chapter is here and I can't make head nor tail of it. Instead of giving it to me to make the changes, he did them himself and now I have no idea what he did (but it looks wrong - very very wrong). ![]() __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" Last edited by MyrnaLynne : 08-20-2008 at 06:33 AM. | |||

| That book does sound good ML I need to check it out. That is an interesting assortment of peeps Mlette shares her day with. Oh no................not the dreaded evil chapter good luck! MlettePodad went to work this morning...end of his vacation. poor guy. Almost the end of mine too.....I am getting mom back Sat......but easier for me.....turns out my sisters son who lives near her is heading for Ocean City Maryland so he will take mom to the Cape May Lewis ferry.....drop her and her wheelchair, walker bags on the LEwis side. I will ride the ferry as a passenger over there....meet them and get on with her and bring her to Cape May(where I will have left the car) then drive her home to OC. This is so nice for me cause the ferry ride is fun to me(it's only 9$ for a person with no car) and I don't have to be in the car for hours with Viv plus it's an excuse for me to stay here till then....alone time at the beach...rare and priceless Heading to the beach with the high school girlfriends today........gonna treat them to lunch since they are going to my beach I come back to the house and grill hot dogs and wrap them in foil and take them down with drinks etc....food always tastes better at the beach Wen ![]() Scottie where are you hope all is ok....miss you!!vB hope your vacation is going well!! | Podmom - I'm here! It's taken me some time to get through all the interesting posts, but I did it! This is such an entertaining, interesting, social, fascinating, wonderful group of women here, I just have to read every word and that takes time when I'm *supposed* to be working! ![]() So, here's a few random thoughts from moi! I had my dad over for dinner on Sunday. You all know he'll soon be 88 years old, and he loves to read. So one of the things that we find in common to talk about (he's actually quite a quiet man) is books. He's very interested in reading the Twilight books!!! He knew that I was reading them, and he was so interested in finding out what all the hub-ub was about, so he's going to go find them in the library. He's so cute. So how's that for an 88 year old man reading those "adolescent" fiction Vampire books! My son's an August baby too! His 20th b-day was August 1st. It's amazing to me that he's no longer a teenager. We were at the beach for his birthday, as we have been since he was born almost. We had some of his friends over for dinner, there's a huge group of neighbors who gather for the first week of August in Ocean City, MD, and we stay right over the line in Delaware at Bethany Beach. We had beef barbeque (home made by me!) and cole slaw and fruit salad, all his requests. His favorite cake (he LOVES cake) is a yellow cake with chocolate frosting so I always have to make that. The place that we stay in didn't have any round cake pans so I had to go buy those throw away pans and let me tell you that they make quite an ugly cake when you put the layers together! But it was a yummy cake and he liked it so all was good. We had two other birthdays while we were there, my niece turned 23 on July 27th, and my cousin turned 32 on August 3rd. So we were always celebrating. My niece loves cake too, so we had a chocolate/chocolate combination for her and my cousin doesn't like cake so much so she had a cookie cake from the bakery. I love summer birthdays! Did you all hear that Lindsey Lohan is interested in Michael Phelps! Run, Michael, run fast! LOL!Too bad Laine's going to miss the first semester away from school, Wen. Is she going to work or what? My son's going to stay home and go to community college this semester. Saving me lots of money and preparing him for another try at a four year college. Hopefully University of maryland Baltimore campus. We'll see! Podmom- I've taken the Cape May - Lewes ferry before and you're right, it's lots of fun! I love Cape May, it's so pretty. I hope you're having a good day with your girlfriends and I agree that food on the beach always tastes better (unless it falls in the sand and then it tastes awful! )ML - glad MLette had such a good birthday, glad you had a nice time at the fair (I love the animals too!) and sorry about the chapter from hell's reappearance! Glad too that the tiny American gymnast finally got her well deserved gold medal. They've got to be stupid to think that we believe those tiny Chinese gymnasts are 16 years old. Sure they are....... ![]() Isn't Catherine Zeta-Jones Welsh too? I think she is. __________________ "Life is hard; it's even harder if you're stupid"--John Wayne | |||

| Hi Everyone! ![]() MyrnaLynne, Yes, that book does sound interesting! It must have been good since you couldn't put it down and read the whole thing at once! LOL! to MLette! I'm glad she had a Wonderful Bday! It sounded really nice! ![]() LOL! At Mr. ML's choice of books! Altho' my No.2 son would have loved it! LOL! OH NO! Not the Evil Chapter Again!!! Will you ever be rid of it?!!! ![]() You poor thing!!! ![]() Poddy, That's Great that you don't have to drive all that way to pick up Big Viv. What a nice break for a change. ![]() Enjoy your day with your friends at the beach today! And it's so true... food always tastes better at the beach. ![]() Aww, Poddad's vacation is over. I hope he enjoyed while it lasted tho'. ![]() Scottie! Lainie works part time as MOTHER's care worker, so she'll continue to do that while she's here for the time that she's not going to school. It seems funny that she's not going to school. Gosh, she's been going to school since forever with no time off... not even Summers. She's not going to know what to do with herself! LOL!Hope Everyone is having a Great Week! ![]() Hugs to All, ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle. | ![]() The gang's all here!! ![]() LOL, I was thinking that - food tastes better at the beach - except when there is sand in it! Laine is like MLette - she was so good at school and so conscientious about it, I didn't know how she'd take the adjustment to the end of college/going to work, but now she's just very hardworking and conscientious about her job instead. It is a shock to their system when they've been in school their whole lives and then - boom - out into the Real World!LOL Scottie about your dad reading the 'Twilight' books - I don't know that they'll be his cup of tea. My dad and I like books, but he tends toward the secret agent/thriller types. Sort of think 'Twilight' is the book equivalent of a 'chick flick'! But who knows, maybe he'll enjoy it! I'm re-reading the 3rd book (again) at the moment. I find the second one kind of painful, during her 'bad times' - haven't re-read that one, I don't think. Well, maybe I re-read the ending section. ![]() Just heard about the Canadian TV show 'Vampire High' (circa 2001-2002) over at the Aussie thread - does sound a bit like Twilight, vampire teens in high school. IMDB said it aired in Israel, too. Wonder if VB ever saw it. Evil chapter is very evil indeed, breaking my brain over it at the moment - he rearranged all the references, but the text is in the same place, so... I don't know what the heck he did! My brain hurts![]() He also cut out about 5 references that I think need to go back in (that go with the last section of the chapter). He didn't make it any shorter and he didn't make any less references so... ![]() That poor 'Samantha Who' girl to get breast cancer so young. But her Mom had it young too, I think - and she's still around. Terrible disease. Not that there are many GOOD diseases! ![]() LOL, Michael Phelps can swim away from Lindsay Lohan very fast! He definitely doesn't need to get mixed up in that dysfunctional family. I was wondering how he paid for his 10,000 calories of food a day - then I heard Speedo gave him a million dollars! And that's probably the tip of the iceberg, as far as sponsorships and endorsements etc. Swim-boy should be set for life. Good for him, he's worked very hard for it! Was reading about Corey Sevier - another Canadian actor boy, same age as Kyle (has a little brother named Kyle too). Been acting and modeling etc since he was in diapers and won some cute-baby contest. He's been in like 50 shows! He was in a Dresden Files (that we just watched last night again) and on Smallville, etc. Was the boy on the Lassie remake, one of the Little Men in Little Men. Sort of reminds me of Jason a little, just the sensitive sort of expressive face. Also has a really nice body - ahem - darn, can't find any photos of him that are grabbable/postable. He has a bit of a sullen edge to his look, though. Is it time to go home yet? Is it Friday yet? ![]() __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" Last edited by MyrnaLynne : 08-20-2008 at 11:11 AM. | |||

| ML - he's cute! But gosh, I was 30 years old when he was born! Almost literally too, I was born July 17, 1954 and he was born July 3, 1984! There comes a point, I guess, when we'll have to stop oogling the young'uns. Or NOT! LOL! I tried to grab one of the pics too, from IMDB, to bring over here (good nekked torso shot on IMDB), but I couldn't do it. Do they block out their pics or something? ![]() Yeah, Michael Phelps could swim away from LL, I hadn't thought of that! Isn't she like a lesbian now or something? Hanging around with that wierd woman (a photographer?)? You're right, talk about a dysfunctional family... I heard Samantha Who Girl now is considered cured of cancer, I heard it on the radio, she was on GMA and said that she only had a lump in one breast, but had a double mastectomy since, like you said, her mother had the same disease and she had the cancer gene. She laughingly said that now she'd be assured of having perky boobs when she's 80! Now that's looking at the bright side! Wen - Laine's taking care of Mother part time? I knew that she helped out, but that's wonderful that even though she and Mother don't always see eye-to-eye, she will still help you with her care giving. Such a sweet girl! I know you're proud of her, and you're right to. I wish her all the best. My son just got a new job to give him gas money and spending money. He's registered to take 15 credits at school this semester, but he'll also be working at a French restaurant. He used to work at a Chinese restaurant (PF Chang's), but they stopped giving him many hours and only working him for a few hours a few days a week. I told him that his first job is school, but the guy that he interviewed with (who's also a good friend of our family's) told him that he could work around his school hours so that's good to know. Well, off to work some, __________________ "Life is hard; it's even harder if you're stupid"--John Wayne Last edited by Scottie : 08-21-2008 at 05:50 AM. | |||

| Scottie congrats on the son getting a job while going to school! I hope Mr ML Jr has some luck. He's so bad though - a woman called him about his resume (some job firm) and he tried to call her back - ONCE - didn't reach her and, well, that's it! Can't be expecting him to call her over and over again, when he has such important stuff to do (online gaming). AHEM! This kid is going to be unemployed forever... ![]() Oh gosh, after wrestling for 2 days with the Evil Chapter the Boss sent over, I finally figured out - he REVISED AN OLD VERSION of it! That's why the references were all mixed up - he used an old old list, not the one we painfully hashed out together and got all straightened out (and I sent him, many times over). SIGH!! He may have revised an old copy of the chapter too, not the one we submitted in July. I am ready to kill him... ![]() You're right, Lindsay Lohan has a gay girlfriend now, Samantha Ronson, some skinny tough looking DJ girl. Guess she thought she's try playing for the other team for awhile. LOL, and I read Samathan's family was upset - because Lindsay isn't Jewish. Don't think that's the reason I'd be upset but, there you go. The fun is dysfunctional. I wonder if she's heir to the Ronson lighter company? I don't think Phelps has to worry about that! Well I'm sure all the crazy girl fans throwing themselves at him will be strange.![]() I don't know why none of the Corey Sevier pix are 'grabbable' - if you try to grab them, they say 'copyright blah blah' - Maybe because he did modeling, he's more fussy about photos of himself being copyrighted. Yep, nice hunky shirtless photos, too. Too bad... ![]() Although there's something a bit sullen about his looks. He is a baby, though - when they're younger than my youngest, I can't really look at them any other way than as a kid. Nice looking kid, but kid nonetheless! LOL! Same goes for half nekkid Kyle in my avi (who just turns 24 this Sunday). They must be older than my children for ogling! ![]() __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" | |||

| ![]() Leave it to Poddy to find a nice grabbable photo of this guy. Yep, that's him, with his hair blonded up a bit. It was dark and sort of parted in the middle and down in 'Dresden Files', a bit more stubbly and not so sweet looking (well, he was playing a hell-demon of some sort in that - heh - but Harry Dresden sorted him out). Maybe this was him in 'North Shore' (or 'Surf School'), one of his beach-y efforts. ![]() I wonder what Ian Somerhalder is up to these days - now there is a very pretty young man ![]() (I was just browsing through my 'other cute guy' folder - that is, other cute guys beside Jason, of course!) LOL! I do like a certain type... tall, slim, dark hair, strong chin, good bone structure to the face.. ![]() Oh well, if we liked art, we'd go to a museum, right? ![]() __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" Last edited by MyrnaLynne : 08-21-2008 at 11:12 AM. | |||

Man you get to have your kid home too just kidding.....enjoy him! My baby(Emily) is working hard these days....till 8 pm most nights this past week because she had some "book", they call ,it due.....she said now that she's written one it shouldn't take her as much time the next time. She's working very hard....kinda work/eat/sleep during the week but having fun on the weekends. Not complaining so I think that is a good sign. This is the same kid that litterally was waited on hand and foot....I couldn't help it Still a tiny bit sureal to think of her functioning on this kind of level.I read too about LL being gay at the moment......YES swim Michael swim ![]() and ditto on the gymnist...it was stressful watching her have problems...a relief for us all ![]() thanks Wen we did have a nice time...it was a beautiful day here......cool in the morning and evening but warm enough to enjoy the beach and swim. | ML - I loved Ian Summer... he's gorgeous. And talented too, I wonder why he didn't make a bigger splash in Hollywood. I'm often stumped as to why some make it and some don't. Talent isn't the question in some cases and certainly not good looks. Although maybe some of our guys are "too" pretty? Shrugs... I liked the picture of Corey on IMDB where he had the longer, darker hair. Yep, reminds me of the type of guy I usually go for! Speaking of which, I rented The Tatooist finally and watched it on Sunday. It stank. Nuff said. Jason needs a good project soon! I don't want to be a bad obsessie or behrian or whatever we call ourselves, I just recognize a good movie and that ain't it! Slinks off to another topic... Podmom - I can't believe I forgot to mention what a novel gift the toilet seat was for Viv's b-day! LOL! Now that's what you'd call a true gift of necessity! Glad she had a nice birthday and is still celebrating! I just called my son and asked him if he'd gotten his parking permit for school, which starts on Monday. He said he was just about to do that...then I asked him what he was doing and he said he was watching tv. Sure...he was JUST about to go get his permit. He needed a new black shirt to wear to his new job on Saturday. So I walked down to Macy's at lunchtime today and bought him one. My hubby thinks I baby him too much and that if I wouldn't do all of his thinking for him, he'd learn to sink or swim. So maybe I should let him swim like Podmom is with Emily and see how far he gets without me. Just an idea...he isn't a baby anymore... ML - Mr. ML Jr. hasn't gotten a job yet? Hmmmm...see above thoughts to Podmom! LOL! Maybe we both need to let them swim a bit? It's so hard to do. Podmom - wow, what a pretty man...Jason that is! __________________ "Life is hard; it's even harder if you're stupid"--John Wayne | |||

| Hi Scottie Well Emily also let things slide(she knew the limit...always got stuff done when it had to be done...well almost always ) but I do think they rise to the occasion when they have to But they do appreciate a well timed "mom call" ![]() well I went for a swim....water was warm and clear but the "jellies"had arrived...which is a buzz kill for me....then after a while a kayaker said to me...there are a ton of scates here(about 5 ft from me) so I took that as the callto call it a day ... walked home and showered and mo soon stly have been reading my book since.....leaving in a bit to see another old high school friend.....off to blow dry ![]() ..this morning I watched my neighbors 3 month old for a couple of hours....." ...good I've been reading all this music stuff...cause Joni's "Little Green" really lulled him to sleep....that and the porch glider. btw that song was about the daughter she gave up for adoption way back then I never knew that of course....none of us did...........this book has really been bringing me back to those day......our youth and the countries sea change via the 60s and 70s..........interesting to look back![]() __________________ ![]() | |||

| Aww, I missed the party today! Everyone was here, (well except for Vero, and Our MIA's, ) but I missed it! ![]() Instead, I was finishing up 'New Moon' (book 2) of the 'Twilight' series, ... my heart still aches a little, with some tears still choked in my throat, but I was glad to read the end. (sigh) Ok, I'll shut up about it now. ![]() MyrnaLynne, Yes, Lainie's very good in school, and now she's like a fish out of water! Today she announced that she was bored, and she really didn't know what to do with herself. Poor kid. She Really misses school. So she did what she usually does with her time... she reads... a lot... like 4 books at a time! I'd go crazy reading so many books all at once, but she does it all the time. Go figure. ![]() My No. 2 son does that all the time too. (Reads multiple books at once too.) Actually what I mean is... they'll start reading one book, then put it down for awhile, then pick up another book, then read that one for awhile, then so on and so forth. The both of them always have a book in their hands. ![]() I've never heard of that actor Corey Sevier, but he is a cutie. ![]() And yes, Ian S. is a real cutie too! Lainie just watched some horror movie with him in it, and I told her that he was on LOST, and she just groaned. She's not a fan of LOST, as you might have guessed. LOL! I am tho'! Sorry to hear that Mr. Boss is driving you insane with that Evil Chapter. So, since Mr. ML Jr's birthday is next... Are you going to get him the Wii after all, or have you not decided yet? The whole family could have fun with it! If you are, then you'd better start trying to find it now... they're kind of hard to find. Scottie, Belated to your Son! Yes, no more teenager! It felt strange when my (baby) Lainie hit 20 and it was like, she was all grown up in a flash! Now she'll be 22 at the end of Oct.... an Old Lady! LOL!And that's Great that he's still going to school and that he got a job with better hours that will work around his school hours. ![]() Yes, Lainie doesn't let MOTHER get away with Anything! She does not cottle her at all! Whereas, I let MOTHER get away with murder because I hate to argue, and it's just easier to give into her rather than argue or have her throw tantrums. (sigh) And then I have to hear it from Lainie telling me... "You know, she wouldn't pull that stuff on me, because I wouldn't put up with it!" (sigh) So, your Dad wants to give the 'Twilight' series a try eh? Lets see how far he gets?! LOL! Maybe he'll be game and read the whole series, who knows?! ![]() Poddy, 1st of all... THANK YOU for Posting that Picture of Our Jason!!! I LOVE That Picture of HIM! ![]() What a PERFECT MAN! to Big Viv! I love cake too! How nice of you to celebrate her home coming with a Birthday celebration too! ![]() Aww, you watched your neighbor's 3mo old. What a perfect age! They seem to coo and smile so easily at that age, if I can remember that far back. I just LOVE babies! (My kids think that I'm looney because I love babies so much!) LOL!And yep, Lainie really does keep MOTHER in line, that's for sure! Glad you had a nice time at the beach... too bad the jellyfish showed up. Hope you had a nice time with your friend tho'. ![]() Hope Everyone has a Great Friday! ![]() Hugs to All, ![]() Wen __________________ JB's Obsessed Fan#64 ( I LOVE JASON BEHR!!!) ![]() "God never gives you more than you can handle.
