but really was into Joni....
OMG now I know we're sisters! Joni has always been my favorite singer/songwriter. I could listen to her sing every day - all day. She sings to my heart, she's a goddess to me. You can't imagine how she's affected me over the years. My husband shuts his ears when she sings though, I think he's just jealous. Have you seen the Masterpiece piece on her? I think it's shown every once in a while on the PBS station, it's fabulous.

Anyhoo, Happy Birthday (belated) Podmom! I'm glad you got to see your friends, and now that I know about that book I'll be sure to pick it up.

Wen - did Laine ever get a car? I was wondering about that.

ML - I saw that EW gave the new Twilight book a "D" but I'm glad that you at least thought it was good. Too bad that the review gave away almost the whole plotline...grrrrr...now I know what's going to happen. Very spoilerish review IMO.

to VB and a huge to go with it.

I'll check in tomorrow, I just signed on tonight after being away and tried to catch up. Although it's always a little tough with the JOFs!

Podmom - loved the thread start and the Jason as Santa pics. I esp liked Jason in the Santa hat. You fooled even me, I honestly thought he had a new gig! Very disappointed in him lately. Not him exactly, but the way he's become invisible. I just hope he's happy wherever he is and whatever he's doing.

Scottie is back! Yay! Oh no! The reviews do give away the whole last
Twilight book - sorry it was spoiled for you. My jaw was on the floor with that one 'turn of events' - which I won't discuss until you've read it. Well, I was no more surprised than the people in the book were!

I'm such a dork, I got a Twilight fannish t-shirt to wear to the movie in December. It says "I'm with the vampires" and has an apple on the front - well, me being with the vampires is pretty true, lately! LOL! Unfortunately, all my fangy shows have gone away and I've finished the books too.

Just watched the end of Torchwood Season 1 - so beautiful. Too bad I saw part of one show on YouTube and the other, they had a huge spoiler for it in the 'extra stuff' on an earlier disk! How dumb was that? Looking forward to Season 2, but next we have Season 4 of Entourage - I've missed those (horny, stupid funny) boys! Netflix is the best.

The proposed future cruise goes from NJ and goes to various islands like St Martin, Barbados, Virgin Islands - it sounds fabulous. But I saw the same cruise, if we left from Tampa, that would cost half the price! Was thinking if we had a cruise that left from Florida, we could drive down there, get my dad and take him on a trip. Maybe my aunt and uncle (his brother) would go too. That would be nice (except for the driving to and from Florida). Darn it all that Mr ML refuses to fly! It makes traveling so limited (at least if we want to go together). There's also a cruise down that way from Boston - but it only goes one way and dumps you off in Miami! What is up with that? I guess the majority of cruises are 'one way' these days. Which doesn't work for us because of his non-flying thing.

It's the last day before Mr and Mrs Boss get back from their week off and I've been busy here working hard all week (or what passes as working hard for me! LOL!), so I'm going home early today - so I'd better do some work in the meantime!

Hope everybody has terrific weekends and VB a great Shabbat too.

ML I know I knew MrML didn't fly but it only just now penetrated..........man that is a drag...is he phobic? I wouldn't handle that very well ...maybe when he retires he'll change his attitude...more time etc. SHipping out of NJ would be conveinient. Is Torchwood another vampire show? I know...net flix makes shows so much easier to catch.

podad is napping......kids are washing his car for him and I just tidied up.....gonna husk some corn......mmmmm birthday cake I made german chocolot cake(sans the nutty coconut icing) we like buttercream at least I body surfed alot today to make up for about a bite...the waves were big today

btw sorry about the run on words my space bar has been sticking for a while now....annoying

Hi Everyone!

UGH! Didn't have the greatest day today. Too much R/L going on at the moment so here I am in Wonderful La La land with Great Friends.

Scottie, You're Back! I'm so glad you're back! You have been missed! I hope you had a really nice time on your vacation!

We haven't gotten the car yet, but hopefully we will by the end of the month. Red tape hold up, which I'm hoping will be resolved soon. (Finger's crossed!) I'm waiting on one document that the loan people need, and hopefully it will arrive soon! (sigh)

And with having no extra car, Lainie can't make her 1st semester at the New College, (which doesn't break my heart), but she's upset about it. So she'll have to start in the Spring instead, which only means that I have her home a little bit longer than expected.

Poddy, How did Poddad like his gift of the Wii? I hope he liked it! And his cake sounds Wonderful!!! YUM!!!

As far as the laptop for Christmas goes, that's a big iffy gift request... too expensive for my kids' pockets.

And that was nice of Liz & Walter to wash Poddad's car for him. They really are sweet to do that.

MyrnaLynne, Wow! A 12 day cruise with the Bossy Sis-in-Law sounds like a nightmare! You cracked me up about tossing her overboard! I don't think a jury would be too harsh on you tho' if they knew the true story!

But that sounds like a good idea to bring your Dad along, and possibly your Uncle & Aunt too. That way maybe/hopefully the Bossy S-I-L would leave you alone if you were with your Dad alot.

And the destination sounds simply Wonderful! All those gorgeous Islands to visit... just amazingly beautiful!

Well, I'm half way thru' 'Twilight' and it's a very good read! I'm enjoying it alot.

And I don't think you are a dork for getting a Twilight' Tee Shirt to wear to the Movie when it comes out in December. Not at all!

I hope Everyone has a Great Weekend!

Hugs to All,
Wen

Oh well - now my T-shirt will be wrong - they just bumped the Harry Potter back from this fall to July 2009, and then bumped the 'Twilight' movie forward from December 12 to November 21!!! (Entertainment Weekly news flash) Oh well, when the shirt comes, I can just cross out the date with a fabric marker and fix it, I suppose! It makes sense to 'strike while the iron is hot' and put that 'Twilight' movie out sooner than later, while there is all the publicity about the final book, the movie, the fan phenomenon etc - when the hall at ComiCon was packed with screaming 'Twilight' fans, they realized, um, this series is popular and people might go see their movie! Duh!

Glad you are liking the book Wen - Mr ML couldn't believe I was re-reading the 3rd book again, now. I like to read a few pages before bed.

No Podmom 'Torchwood' is a spinoff series from Dr. Who - It's a team of, um, special agents sort of, who take care of aliens and temporal anomalies and whatever weird scifi-ish events (and you know how those are always happening inthe UK ), stationed in Cardiff, Wales. But unlike Dr. Who, the creepy aliens aren't the main point of it. It's a more adult spinoff and more about the people than the 'things' I think. And John Barrowman, who plays their leader, Captain Jack Harkness, is very cute! There are 5 of them on the team. Hard to describe, but it's a very interesting series. Just finished watching their first season. They are airing season 2 now, and I just saw that they've been picked up for a 3rd season. Woo! I just kept hearing about this show, and I decided to check it out and like it a lot! Mr ML isn't that fond of it, though (guess he's immune to the charms of Captain Jack, eh).

I wasn't thinking of taking my dad and uncle on the Bossy Sister's 12 day cruise - thought about taking them on something shorter that left from someplace closer to them in Florida, maybe Tampa. It's all speculative. I haven't been very good at making any plans these days. Still haven't done anything about fixing our disposer in the sink that died either! And this is 'tax free' weekend here and I still haven't decided about getting any appliances or not. Tax free saves a lot of money - not buying anything saves more! LOL!

OO, I got a $5 check from the Lottery! Very cool. Now if they'd just add about half a dozen extra zeros to the end...

I guess Mr ML is phobic about flying - his hands get all clammy - He has flown before (which I guess is how he found out he hates it). We flew to and from our honeymoon, and we flew down to visit my folks when Mr ML Jr was a baby but at some point after that he just said No More, not doing it. And every time a plane crashes, he just nodes his head and is more convinced of his decision. Nobody is as stubborn as a Capricorn guy when they make up their mind about a thing! <insert goat graphic here!>

Mmm, birthday cake! Podad's cake sounds yummy. Too bad MLette hates cake (have you ever heard of such a thing?) so we're going to get her an ice cream cake. But Mr ML Jr's b-day is around the corner and he is a frosting fan (like his mother).

Boyfriend took MLette away for the weekend. Nice. Of course there was torrential rain all afternoon/evening after they left (yet again; thunder too) so I hope they got there and got indoors before the bad weather. Supposed to rain more today too (again) and then turn HOT! Always something with the weather lately!

GAH, I just saw that John Barrowman and some castmates were at 'ComicCon last month! Wish I'd known. Every year, I'm sorry I didn't go to this (after it's over). But those crowds just freak me out...

I also didn't realize Dr Who David Tennant is Scottish too! Saw him on a clip of a talk show with John Barrowman, and his accent is almost as thick as James McAvoy's! (Also found out his real name is McDonald, only there already was a David McDonald so he had to take a stage name - who knows, Dr Who could be related to Mr ML's mother's people! LOL!) I just don't get why he's such a hottie, though - he's so skinny and has such a pointy nose and big ears and goggly eyes, etc. His acting as Dr Who seems awfully hammy to me. Oh well, I thought Jason was funny looking like that, for about 2 episodes of Roswell and then WHAM!!!

Wow! They changed the 'Twilight' Movie date from December to November?!!! Boy! They're not anxious to make money, are they?!!! LOL!

I still don't think the leading man is handsome enough to be playing Edward tho', IMHO. They needed to have gotten someone drop dead Gorgeous! Where as the actor that they chose is just average looking. Ho-hum. Totally wrong for the part.

But I am enjoying the Book very, very much! No.2 Son was surprised that I was reading the 'Twilight' series, as he chuckled and said: "So, You've been enticed by this 'Twilight' phenomenon too I see." LOL! "I'm quite surprised actually!" he finished.

So I told him how you sang of it's praises so much that it really made me curious, and I just had get the series. He just laughed out loud, thinking it was cute I'm sure.

Then he said: "Well, I'm so glad you are enjoying the book so far... I can tell because sometimes when I walk by and you're engrosed reading, you have a little smile on your face." (I wasn't even aware of that!) LOL!

So, Mr. ML isn't fond of Torchwood?! It can be rather dark at times. And I guess there are some that can resist Capt. Jack's charm too.

So John B. was at ComicCon too?! Wow, everyone was there!!!
I feel like you do... I do not like crowds AT ALL either!!!

And yes, David Tennant is Scottish and has a very thick accent! It amazes me how he can switch so easily from a Scottish to a British accent with such ease. Well, both John B. and David T. for that matter.

And you mentioned how you don't understand the appeal of David T.? Well, he does grow on you. The more you watch him, the more you like him, that's all I can say.

Oh, I misunderstood... so you weren't thinking of taking your Dad on that Bossy Sister Cruise, but another one. That will be nice then! I bet your Dad would really enjoy it then!

And I remember you mentioning that MLette doesn't like cake. My Lainie doesn't like cake either! Go figure! She doesn't like donuts either in any form or fashion! And she doesn't even like Ice Cream Cake either! She's such a fusspot.

I keep telling her, "How can you be my child and not like cake?!!!" LOL!

At least she likes ice cream... that's at least something. LOL!

I hope MLette has a nice Birthday Weekend with her BF. And I hope the weather wasn't too bad for them while traveling.

And you mentioned that Mr. ML is a Capricorn... My No.1 Son's wife is a Capricorn too.

I hope Everyone is having a Great Weekend!

Hugs to All,
Wen

Wen sorry about the real lifeness RL can be hard to swallow at times ...ebb and flow......so glad a little LaLa time can help a bit wow Lanie staying home another semester ..I can certainly see why that can be partly happy for you but hard to watch her be frustrated.....kind of hard socially to move into a dorm in the middle of the year or maybe she is doing an apartment? I wish her the best however it shakes out cause she is such a good girl and deserves every break!!!!! Stupid satan jr. should buy her a car So so cute of your son to notice your book and smile....sweet boy Podad seemed to like his wii......we played it once so far with the kids...us oldies....especially me couldn't keep up but I think we will have some fun together with it.....the reason for me getting it...we'll see if we get it together to hastle with it.......I hope so cause it wasn't cheap Happy you are liking your new book

ML Your Tshirt will be a collectable what with the wrong date...maybe you can make a profit on it Thanks for telling me about Torchwood. It sounds interesting and I love that it takes place in Whales...right there I want to check it out. Is it as dark and creepy as X files cause that is kinda too much for me? Comic con would be too much for me.....if I could drive there in 2 hours I would go check it out cause it is such a happening but I wouldn't want to spend a lot of $ to go. Well your Capricorn guy and you seem to work out nicely even with stuborn stuff .... you are tollerant of that and he is happy for you to spread your wings alonesome times and travel

oops gotta do some breakfast stuff for the kids..bbl

Yes, Torchwood has suddenly given me a desire to go visit Cardiff, Wales - which I definitely never had in my life! Although I always thought the Welsh were good speakers/actors/singers (Richard Burton, Garaint Wyn Davies from Forever Knight, Anthony Hopkins - think he's Welsh too).

The writing in 'Twilight' is just so lovely - love how she captures the characters and describes everything and the wonderful dialogue etc. OH well, Bella and Edward have to be the two stubbornest people on earth! Have Mr ML beat by a mile.

Yeh, we seem to put up with each other and it seems to work out (so far, so good! LOL!)

Wow, Michael Phelps is still winning medals. Very nice. I didn't realize he was a little ADHD/hyperactive kid - His Mom is such a cool lady too.

We're going to a country Fair today (when MLette gets back - part of her birthday weekend celebrating plan). Weather is great so far, too. And the bad rain yesterday went north and south of us, but passed us by!

I guess Florida is worrying about a bad storm - my friends down there are laying in supplies etc, getting ready. I don't know how people live under the threat of hurricanes and tornados and such - way too scary!

Ah I see David Tennant has worked his magic on Wen already! Well, he must be hot if Sophia Myles was dating him (blond girl from 'Moonight') she's so gorgeous - although they broke it off so.. sigh. Who knows! Heh, that randy John B said they called him David Ten-inch. ahem!

I saw Michael Phelps this evening reviewing the medal wins with Bob Costas.....didn't see it all but I did see he and his mother be interviewed. She did seem like a very together lady with her career being a princible amd of course helping him....plus best he seemed really to love and admire her.....every time I've seen him interviewed he seems humble and nice. I'm glad he achieved such an amazing feat.

you forgot another Welsh actor......

here is a qoute I found from Ioan while I nabbed the pic......"has spoken out against the likes of Paris Hilton and Britney Spears claiming they set a bad example to young women. "I look at girls like Britney Spears and Paris Hilton and think, they have a responsibility to be role models to their young fans, but, instead, it's all just about sex and selling their bodies," Ioan tells this month's GLAMOUR. "I think it's tarty. Personally, I enjoy the elegance and mystery of a woman" good for him.

I haven't seen the news this weekend.....hope your friendsare ok andI hope you guys have fun at the fair

Poddy, Yes, R/L gets to me sometimes, but it's so nice to be able to come here (as you put it... "La La Land") , and it's so theraputic to visit with wonderful friends.

I'm so glad Poddad liked his gifted of the Wii! Was he surprised?! And it sounds like you all had a lot of fun playing it all together. I'm sure you and Poddad will have lots of fun with it.

And yes, Lainie is not happy about missing the Fall Semester of School, but it's unavoidable and she understands.

And yes, she'll be moving into the Dorm in the Spring. I'm still having anxiety attacks about that, and it's so far off!

And Yes, Satan Jr. SHOULD buy her a car but he won't, but don't even get me started on THAT subject! Grrrrrr! He just Burns me up!!!

And yes, my No.2 son is really sweet to notice me enjoying my 'Twilight' book. And he's so glad that I am enjoying it too.

Love the picture you posted of Ioan... He's so cute! And yes, I forgot he's Welsh!

Also love the ani with Michael Phelps going Super Saiyan!

MyrnaLynne, I'm glad the weather was nice so you could go to the Fair with MLette. I hope you all had a nice time.

And yes, David Tennant did work his magic on me, because at 1st I wasn't sure about him, but now I just love him as Dr. Who!

And I don't see him as hammy, really, ... just very animated & enthusiastic, that's all.

Oh, and about that David Ten-inch thing... I believe it was Billie Piper, (Rose on the Show), that 1st started that! Shame on them!

And I too hope your friends are safe and sound in Florida from the Big Storm.

And isn't Michael Phelps the most Gold Medal Winner for Swimming for the US Now? I think he's broken the record now for the most Golds, right? He really is amazing!

Hope Everyone Has a Great Week.

Hugs to All,
Wen

We had a great time at the Fair! The sun was so HOT! It was a picture postcard day, too, blue skies, white clouds, sun, strong breeze. More fresh air, sunshine, walking/standing than I've done in a long, long time. Gosh I haven't been so totally exhausted in ages. It wasn't just me, either - we were all totaly tuckered out after the Fair. Still pretty tired today and my legs and knee aren't too happy either.

All we could do was veg out and watch Olympic stuff last night. Which was very cool! Yes, that Michael Phelps seems like a very nice boy, with a nice family, smart mother who brought him up right. I hope he manages to stay out of trouble and channel his energies into sports and good stuff, not let it all go to his head. He's so young (23) I guess he'll probably just keep working at swimming and train for the next Olympics. Can't see what else he might do afterwards! LOL! He's definitely on top of the world at the moment though. LOL about that ani. He's kind of a goofy looking kid, but the girls seem to love him! It must be pretty cool to be the best in the world!

Oh my gosh, a thousand apologizes Poddy how could I not include Ioan Griffud among the wonderful Welshmen actors? He seems like a pretty upstanding and moral type gentleman and not surprised he's offended by the young celebs of today being total trampettes and setting bad examples for their fans. I think a bit of Wilberforce's moral rectitude might have rubbed off on him from that role. I heard he got married! Happy for him, our IRoning Board

LOL, well the British/UK types are pretty bawdy in their humor anyway, so not surprised Billie Piper started that (impressive) nickname. giggle. John Barrowman was a devil about flashing his bum and naughty bits on stage at times too - those theater folks are something else again! LOL! It seems to be the year of the Scotsmen - bunch of them are doing very well. James McAvoy chief among them. Think that Kevin McKidd from Journeyman is a Scot, too.

We saw lots of animals at the Fair - cows and chickens and various 4-H type agricultural things. Old timey quilts and crafts. Big pumpkins, hawks, turkeys, a team of Budwiser Clydesdale horses driving a wagon. I didn't know Clydesdales were Scottish too (from the Clyde valley). Also had some Scottish Highland cows that were so cute - covered in shaggy red hair with a red Beatle wig of hair on top of their heads - cute cows. Also didn't know girl cows had horns, but they do.

I'm sort of sorry I didn't go off and be a hippie back to land farmer gal back in the day (I considered it/had it in mind). I just love those critters. But I'm way too lazy to be a good farmer - it's a whole lot of work! I would be curled up with a book while the whole place went to rack and ruin! And of course Mr ML is the laziest man on work (considering how hardworking he can be).

Tough break that Lainie has to wait for the next semester of school, but Fall seems to be the traditional starting time anyway for colleges. She's such a bright kid, I'm sure she'll do well. Sometimes you just have to wait for things. My niece is off to college the end of this week! I hope she loves it/isn't too homesick.

MLette's birthday this week! Mr ML asked me last night "What did I get her?"
He is soooo bad.

You had it right Poddy 'feat' is an accomplishment ('feet' are at the end of your legs; 'fete' is a party - heh). We love you, spelling and all!

Hmm, what would I like in my next life (aside from Jason)? Maybe take a few of those 'roads not taken' and do some things differently.
