You came back right on time!

Loved the Christmas (even though it's soooo NOT Christmas) theam.

Amazing Jason pics!

Dinner yesterday was great! I still liked that places we went to and we had a nice time. It was a dairy kind. You know that restaurant that serve Kosher food can't have both dairy and meat so this one was dairy.

The owner is a far relative of the family so we usually get a discount but he wasn't there this time so we pair full price (which of course made my cheap stick of a dad very angry) but it was worth it in my opinion.

And so did in Yossi's (my brother) so everything was cool.

podmommy and ML, I guess that's why I don't like to have pictures taken of me (I might be young but I usually don't like the why I look in them). I usually like to be the one taking the pictures. A lot more fun!

ML, that is just so great! I didn't know any type of diabetes can go away. I have to check what kind my dad has… though I seriously doubt if he has the will power give up on all of those things he has to get to that.

We keep telling him to not eat that or that but he just doesn't listen.

Anyway great work for your friend's hubby!

And about the struggle. I once heard (or read) that fat is a womanly tread and muscle is a manly so woman have tend to have a lot more fat in their bodies then man and that's why it's easier for man to lose weight. They have the muscles there already. All they have to do it be a little more careful and they already lose weight… while woman who have the fat (and usually have no muscles – unless they work at it) and the tendency to it (not getting fat but just having it in their bodies) makes losing weight harder. Does that make sense? I hope I explained it right…

Well I don't think it's silly to not want to get the new shoes dirty (I don't what that either)… but the 'taking them to work and then putting them back in the box so they won't get dirty at work' is a little crazy.

But I do understand you… better then you think.
Usually I wear shoes for like an hour before I find some sort of dirt on them… which totally makes me annoyed…

Well my grandma is very unstable but there's also the fact that she thinks she can do anything and actually does some pretty silly things… things a woman her age should ask help for…

Only she doesn't! My mom keeps telling her that she should use the walking stick we have but she won't hear about it…

See! Nothing to worry about! He'll just walk the dog 'till he gets tired of it.

Wow! That is totally like Roswell! Kinda funny when you think about that…

Where's the 'Jason news?' Or is that just a wish for some (and if it comes, it will feel like Christmas. Anyway, great new thread-start Poddy.

It's true VB men and women have different metabolism/body makeup, and it's easier for them to lose weight - and easier for us to put it on. Although there are plenty of really fat guys around here too. I think the fast food like McDonald's has caused so many people to get so fat. I just read that in California they want to limit the fast food restaurants opening in poor areas - the only place the poor people have to eat is cheap fattening fast food restaurants. Still, that seems a bit like 'Big Brother' saying where stores can open and where they can't.

I see your Prime Minister, Olmert, is going to step down. Lot of trouble with governments going on lately - Belgium, Turkey. And of course those wacky African dictators who won't step down and are ruining their countries. sigh. We are just having months and months more of President campaigning.

I guess I do like Obama, as McCain is down on the gay issue (and a very crabby old man). I won't actually support him, though, as my support of any candidate is the 'kiss of death' and means they will lose the election!

Oh! I had such a day yesterday! I was walking the dog after work, and just as I bent down with the bag to pick up a poo - a hornet flew into my shirt!

So there I am with a leash in one hand, a bag of dog poo in the other, and something biting me!!! I dropped the leash and stepped on it, tied up the bag, and took off my shirt and shook it out (luckily I had a tank top under it! LOL!) Big black bug flew off and it bit me several times. First I thought it was a mosquito and I'd slapped at it, which just made it annoyed and bite me more.

So of course I'm freaking out wondering if I'm going to find out I'm allergic to those bites and drop dead before I get home, so I hurried home with the dog (I was far far down the end of the park) and put ice on the bites. I don't think they were stings because they didn't swell up or really hurt, they sort of went away after awhile but boy did they sting and burn (like bites of a tiny vampire? ;p) Anyway, that was my bad adventure yesterday!

But the good part was, another installment of 'Torchwood' showed up from Netflix, so I put on the AC, shut the door, and watched 'Torchwood' the rest of the night. Very nice! Didn't particularly like either episode - one was a sappy love story with the most unattractive guy in the cast (he looks like a muppet) and it's bad enough to see him with his clothes on - forget bare in love scenes! Ewww. And the other one was a very disappointing 'fight club' story - it's so been done. "Blood Ties" even had a very similar episode. There was fun 'extra stuff' though and you gotta love Captain Jack! Everybody does - the men, the ladies.

Disappointed though - I thought it was Friday this morning, because MLette got up early. Nope, not Friday yet!

glad it wasn't worse and amazing you had a tank top on in this heat...I would have been a sight. He must now have stung you all the way ...good thing..hornets are big and scary! Hope today goes better.

vB Diabeties that comes on when you are an adult I think is always type 2...adult onset diabeties and I think is almost always from eating habbits and weight. Your dad sounds like a tough nut to crack though. Lunch sounded fun.....in a kosher restaurant they never mix dairy and meat? Hard to have an italian reastaurant with no cheese and meat......they must get creative. Me too...way rather take than be in pic......once in a while if light/angle etc is right it isn't so bad.....but in a bathing suit that ain't easy

NO worries! I was thinking your title will attract many new visitors to our thread!

Yep, meat and milk together is the big kosher no-no. So no pepperoni pizza (although since pepperoni is made from pork, that's a whole other issue too).

Tried a couple of the 'Smart Ones' frozen dinners with the fruit - not bad! They raised the prices at the cafeteria so I'm trying to be creative (where haven't they raised the prices?) Sorry, whining about the economy again!

Maggie should be back from her trip soon - I hope she checks in with a report of her adventures.

Funny, the best pictures taken of me, I thought the person was just fooling around and the camera was empty, so I didn't tense up and try to smile or not blink or whatever, just looked natural. My freshman boyfriend at college snapped a really nice picture of me that way, and then he framed it and gave it to my folks when he came for a visit! I have it up in my room now - reminds me of what 18 used to look like!

MOTHER's beachhouse was on the East Coast, so a lot of good that would do me now since I'm on the West Cosat, but it would have been nice as a kid to go. (sigh)

Anyway, speaking of MOTHER, she's slowly on the mend... still hobbling and giving orders. (sigh) I'll be glad when she's all better and can go back to HER house. Isn't that awful to say... it's just that when she wants something,.. she wants it NOW, no matter what! (sigh)

Those girls live in my neighborhood. When I moved there almost 10 yrs ago the one on the right left a moving in welcome treat in my garage....she led the hood for years in get togethers,neighborhood address lists and parties to facilitate ppl getting to know each other....I realized to make new friends I needed to reach out too. Those two and Michelle(the one whos little boy Alex was handicapped and eventually died) and I have become very good friends and I've known their kids since they were little or in Michelles case before they were born. I'm kinda like the older sister to Laura on the left and Michelle. They keep me young

I did meet up with high school friends last yr and posted some pix of us on the beach...so that's why you thought that. Whew ....alot of typing for me

ML, well junk food does cause a lot of the obesity problems… but it's more them that. It wouldn't have been a problem if people would have eaten there once a month… thing is people eat there almost everyday.

Now that is a problem!
That been said it is a little weird that they want to decide where to have restaurants… I say educating the people would have a lot more then limiting the stors.

Well Olmart should have stepped down months ago… and he didn't really step down… he just said that if he won't be chosen as the head of hip party then he'd step down… he has been stalling doing that for too long. He's being investigated by the police for some serious things (and not for the 1st time! I think it's the 3rd) and just won't take it seriously!

I still can't believe he's still our Prim Minister!

That was scary with the hornet! G-D I have those bugs! They always fly into places they shouldn't!

podmommy, not in the Kosher restaurants. If a restaurant would have done that they would have to take the Kosher certificate away. The kosher restaurants are serving either meat either dairy, never both… unless there are 2 kitchens and they have a permit for that. A little complicated I know but I'm used to that.

The dairy restaurants serve all sorts of pasta and stuff like that with creamy sauce and sandwiches and toasts and salads act. and the ones who serve meat serve a lot of kinds of meats with side dishes like potatoes or pasta (with out cheese and creamy sauce) and stuff like that. It's actually pretty simple… to me.

And yep! Dad is definitely a tough nut. I guess I should be used to that too by now.

Wen, happy to hear your mom is getting better. It's be a while but at least she's moving in the right direction.

She's independent but only when she wants to be but she won't listen if she doesn't like what she's hearing…

I did something I haven't done in roughly three years....pulled out my Roswell VCD's and started watching the Pilot. Only took a few minutes when all the dialog started coming back....Think I'm gonna do a marathon (if I can find the time!

Great idea Tiger! It's been soooo long since I watched 'Roswell', I should have a refresher marathon too! Remember that boy and why I fell for him!

Especially while it's so hot and nothing is on TV anymore (I could sit in the cool room and drag out my tapes). I bought a bunch of DVD sets (Forever Knight, Alien Nation - Jason's in one of those too) and haven't watched them yet, so I should make a plan to do that. In my vampire enthusiasm (and frustration BloodTies DVD wasn't out in N. America yet - and STILL not out yet), I got that old vampire show. Watched a couple and it didn't hold up too well.. Very 80s. Big hair and shoulder pads!

You should definitely give 'Twilight' a try Wen - maybe you can get the books from the library or somewhere. They are just so well written and romantic and it's a terrific story. And wildly wildly popular.

Oh, there's this guy at work, he's Greek, and he's tall, dark and ridiculously handsome and always dresses like a page from GQ (used to work in my department but changed departments) - saw him in the elevator this morning and was thinking he's almost exactly how I picture Edward the vampire guy from 'Twilight' looking - perfect. Much more like him that Robert Pattinson, the guy who is playing him in the movie.

Of course if you get to know the guy, he's whiny and goofy (and married with 2 kids) so any illusions about him are quickly spoiled!

LOL! But he has the 'stun your brain, he's so handsome' type of looks, like Edward, plus the impeccable grooming etc. Wish I had a sneaky camera phone so I could show you gals his picture!

I wish our neighborhood was as friendly as yours Podmom. Everybody either works all day or sticks in their house and doesn't mingle. Hate to say I'm starting to be one of the 'old crabby neighbors' instead of one of the young friendly ones, but it's true. That's great you have those long-time friends in the neighborhood.

I'm fully recovered from my bug ordeal Wen, so everybody's sympathy and healing thoughts definitely worked. (I also don't think it actually stung me.) I didn't get a good look at it, but it was black and shiny and had those segments like hornets do - ugh!

It's so bad when people like Olmert and Clinton misbehave in office and embarrass themselves and their country. Although at least Clinton balanced the budget and didn't spent trillions we don't have like Mr Bush! His idea of fixing things is to give more money we don't have away to everybody.

Poddy forgot to thank you for the Tribbles and Captain Kirk, and those leaping ladybugs are so cute! We've were getting a lot of them showing up in our house - no idea where they come from. We just open the window and toss them out (gently).

Today is Mr ML Jr's last day of work.

They gave him all sorts of papers explaining about unemployment and they're taking him out to lunch today. Very nice of them! He's worked there ever since college. Oh well - time for something new for him!

I finally caught that show 'Hopkins' about doctors at Johns Hopkins last night - figures it was the next-to-last one. It was very interesting! Especialy when they did a 3-way swap of kidney transplants! My boss was involved in something similar here - way way cool to actually see it, and see the people involved. Such a miracle! I am kind of removed from the actual stuff, just typing up reports about them from a distance.

They re-aired the wonderful 'Groundhog Day' episode of Supernatural last night too - that's one of the few episodes of that show I ever watched (the other was when Dean made the deal with the devil for his father in the hospital - or vice versa?), and it was so good, I watched it again. That Jared Padelecki is a really good actor, aside from being gorgeous and hunky. Such nice arms!

Never got into that show, the stuff was too scary for me, but I know people love it to pieces, has a huge following. It's a love story about brothers, really (disguised as a show about killing monsters). I never bought that other guy, his brother guy Jensen Ackles, as being anywhere tough enough to kill a fly, never mind evil demons. Way too pretty.

He was on Smallville before and I wasn't crazy about him on there either.

Dr Who finale last night was pretty mindblowing - 2 parter and we didn't realize the 2nd part was so long, so missed the beginning. Dr. Who, Captain Jack, all his various companions a bazillion Daleks - what a cool (and totally bizarre) show! We really enjoyed it.

Oh the best thing about the new TV is, it has closed-captioning, and Mr ML is getting a bit hard of hearing and with the accents and all - he turns on the captions and doesn't have to have the TV blaring.

MLette's BF won some money in the lottery (not a fortune) - he bought her roses and took her out to dinner.

He's a pretty good guy.

Finally watched 'TransAmerica' the movie with Felicity Huffman and Kevin Zegers about a transexual person finding out he/she has a kid and driving cross country - sounds awful I know, but it was a really nice movie.

So, I've made a decision… my parents and siblings are going on a vacation (guess where…

) and they ordered a place for me too… since it's impossible to get a refund now I'm gonna stop looking for a job now… unless I know for sure they want me for a later date. I really want to go to this thing but no boss in his/hers right sense of mind would let someone who just got there a whole week off… I know I wouldn't. So anyway I'm just lazing around here (looking for work in my own profession for now cause the one that I do want will take a while to get back to me so those are not a problem).

Tiger, I know what you mean… just starting the Pilot gets me into everything too… but I usually skip the 2nd season. I just hate what they did with everything there… I love the show but that season shouldn't have happened!

I'm completely desperate with the leaders situation around the world…

it's just seems there's no where to turn… no good guys!

We had a talk last night about the whole situation and my mom's aunt (who was over) said she doesn't want vice Prim Minister to be the next one… you want to know why? Because she's a woman! I was shocked to hear her say that! And then the argument became a feminist one(at least in my pov). I definitely believe that if the right woman is put on the job she would probably do a hell of a better job then those idiots! Ogh well I guess time will tell…

Glad to hear Mr. ML Jr. last day on the job went ok. And it was nice of them to take him to lunch.

I hope he get's a new one soon.
