Browsed the internet a bit, stumbled on a few articles related to the movie.

Jason Behr Inks Up For Tattooist

He played an alien on “Roswell,” then a doomed boyfriend in the supernatural The Grudge, and now he is back to battling spooky forces. Jason Behr may rarely land work as a regular, run-of-the-mill guy, but at least he is off the unemployment line.

According to Variety, Behr will star in the thriller The Tattooist, for The New Zealand Film Commission, Mediacorp Raintree Prods, and Eyeworks Touchdown Prods. Robin Scholes will produce with Daniel Yun.

The Tattooist, which sounds like a made-up word but isn’t, gives Behr his shot at a leading role. He plays a tattoo artist who becomes intrigued by the Samoan tatau tradition, but his desire to learn the ancient skill leads to trouble. Before long, a deadly spirit is released and he encounters conflict and danger with the island mysticism. If movies have taught us anything, it's this: stay far away from angry spirits, or pay the price.

The Tattooist comes to the big screen

In recent years, “skin art” – the art of tattooing has become very popular. However some people still get the creeps from just thinking about a high speed needle pricking their skin.

But now, there is even more of a reason to be afraid…the ancient, mystic Samoan tradition of tattooing which if not done correctly, leads to the release of deadly spirits OR so says the new thriller ‘The Tattooist’ which begins shooting next month in New Zealand.

Jason Behr (‘The Grudge’) has been tapped to star in the film directed by feature newbie director Peter Burger from script penned by Matthew Grainger and Jonathan King.

Behr plays a tattoo artist who becomes fascinated by the ancient tattoo tradition which eventually leads him into mystical encounters.

No release date is being reported.

Quickhits: Behr is The Tattooist

Quote:
By Erik Davis

I'm not sure why, but tattoos scare me and I refuse to get one. Yet, my sister has seven ... and she's nineteen. Go figure. Apparently, Jason Behr (The Grudge) has no problem with the ink stains, as he has just signed on to star in The Tattooist. Pic, which marks the directorial debut of commercial helmer Peter Burger, revolves around a tattoo artist whose obsession with the Samoan tatau tradition leads him to unlock a world of danger and mysticism. See, that's why I won't get one.

Thanks for all the info, Crystal.

Like I said, it doesn't sound all that interesting but I'll watch it anyway. I mean, hello, it's Jason!

You're welcome everyone Wish I could find news like that every week

Crystaline - I was thinking of The Rock too That's a bit too much tattoo for my taste Though I suppose The Rock had a good reason to get it. It's part of his heritage, isn't it?

Do you guys remember the good old days when we said we'd watch him watch grass grow? We had fun with that for weeks! I think I still have the "Watching the Grass Grow" script somewhere

Yeah, it is. His mother is Samoan.

He's so fascinating to simply watch and to observe all his mannerisms. I could do that for a living... without a salary.

I have been away too long -- it took me a minute or two to figure out why Crystaline had so many posts, and I'd never heard of her before.

Great news about Jason's leading role -- thanks for the heads-up, FL!

I agree that Jason doesn't need any more permanent decoration, but it would be interesting to see some temporary tats for the movie.

Grr to the reviewer who thinks Jason has been standing in the unemployment line, and hasn't ever had the lead in any movies yet either! OK, so maybe the movies he had leads in weren't seen by a whole lot of people/haven't come out yet - but there have been a few of them already! And he's been working pretty steadily since (and before) Roswell. He's not unemployed - he just likes to take vacations! LOL! But aside from that diss - good articles!

Figured it had to be about more than some skinny white guy going to study Samoan tatooing. (snore) Evil spirits! Good angle! It's true that Jason seems destined in the direction of the supernatural in films. Maybe because he's so otherworldly gorgeous and talented?

Yeh, if you are Samoan, having Samoan tattoos makes sense. Plus the Rock is such a huge man - he makes a pretty large 'canvas' for a large tattoo.

But I'm with LTL - I hope the tattoos in the film will be temporary!!! But I'm looking forward to seeing this!

Yeah, sorry for the confusion.

Jason has been the most consistent worker since Roswell ended. Well, he and Shiri. He's been far from waiting on the employment line.

"The Tattooist" has been added to Jason's IMDB profile page.

I'm happy to see him in another project. Our computer was down, so I did't learn about the Tatooist movie until today. It sounds interesting.

Don't forget about Colin with all of his new movies as well and Katherine with Greys Anatomy.

But over all Jason has worked the most and non stop out of the cast

This movie looks really interesting. Thanks for the articles Crystal

Love,
Erin
