I'll have to take a look at those. I'm always keeping an eye out for recommendations. But, I am not so into the Candy fics. I'm pretty much a dreamer-only kind of girl (and maybe a little "awakened dreamer" from time-to-time; but, shhh, don't tell

) It's not that I have anything against M&M, but Max and Liz were what I loved about Roswell, and therefore, what I love to have "live-on."

Well, it's an AU story so it's a different spin. I'll read anything ML related as long as it's well-written.

like i said i like AU but i still have to recognize the characters i love
they don't have to be totally canon(if it's AU it's AU).. but i recognize when the writer is biased and only makes a character totally bad in order to make it seems that her fav characters are heroes. It's common. No matter how much the ff is well written if M&L are totally degraded and transformed into another thing i won't read it because i have no reason.

I can't believe people write fics where Max is a rapist. Even typing that ticks me off.

i think that most of Uc-Liz fanfictions are like that
in that case i guess that it's easy to make it seems that Liz has a good reason in order to get rid of Max if you kill the one she loved in the show and you transform him in the abusive rapist/bad guy. You know that way the other guy you want to put Liz with automatically become the "hero" who saves her from her bad husband. If Max remains canon no one can compete with him

the problem is when some people confuse the canon with fanfiction and they really believe that canon Max could be like that

Max.. rapist..... the one who loved the same girl for 10 years but didn't even ask her for a date and then even knowing that they loved and wanted each other he awaited 9 episodes before finally kissing her because he wanted to protect her from himself. Max the one who actually made love for the first time with Liz only when he proposed/after they married and never tried to force her in something more even if only God knows how much she teased him with the make outs and the poor guy must have taken tons of cold showers.

He was so considerate with her.
Max the rapist..very believable indeed

But that's the whole point of an AU story. It's completely different from the show.

I probably wouldn't wanna read about a character being SO different though. I guess I could handle AU if the situations/circumstances were completely separated from the show but the characters still had the same personalities...

The characterization for that particular fic may be way out there, but it's really well-written. I suppose that's why I keep reading.

I would rather read an AU where M&L are different characters completely, over a conventional story where they are written out-of-character. As Crystal said, I will give any M&L-centric story a chance if it is well-written.

Within reason, of course, I don't want to read about Max the rapist either.

If the story is totally different then no need to call it roswell, it's original fiction

But then i can always buy a book

AU makes sense when the characters are different.. yet the same. You have to think that if Max and Liz were in that kind of totally different story they could be like that.
It's like taking some things from their original personalities and develop them more than in the show.

I feel like that for Snapshot. Max and Liz are different there.. yet they're the same. They're believable, i can see some of their original traits, i can see that if their backstory was that one they could be like that (in that story the one less canon is Liz IMO but i can see why she's so fragile and insecure)

anyway i read roswell fanfictions mainly for M&L

if i don't get them i have no reason to read the fanfictions because i don't care about the others .

(kidding

i care about the other characters too but M&L are my fav and OTP is the story kill what i love about them i don't have reasons to read it. That's what i mean)
