Agreed. I think one of the biggest issues was that several of the writers from S1 weren't there anymore. So we had new people continuing where they left off and not really doing justice to everything we fell in love with about the show.

M&L love is pure but they're everything but pure

they're the only couple of the show that remained passionated and sexy from the start till the end. see season 3 but even season 2 (they have two kisses but what kisses! especially the first one from EOTW with the sexy flashes and what about when he touched her arms making her see all those sexy flashes of them?)

it's funny because they didn't make love in the episodes but they had more .. visual? they were more explicit than who really had sex if you understand what i mean

because they have more make out scenes, more scenes where it's implied an intimate relationship between two people who knew each other's body. see busted or the way their legs and bodies were intertwined when they were making out.
the scene from crash where she.. ehm... "touched" him 'up north' - or south?

into a public place with Kyle there!

and what about "what a great mind you have" and "a very bright future for you" and how they were embarrassed, later, when they had to say what they were doing when the flashes happened

writers are contradictory. they can make a sex scene less explicit than a make out scene.

I agree, their feelings for each other are very pure, but not the entire relationship. They were very physical and their make out sessions were insanely hot

Exactly. And after Max's proposal, we're supposed to assume they made love, but I don't like assuming things. I want proof, dammit!

Yeah, it all snow balled pretty quickly. I think we were supposed to "know" they made love during that brief look between them at the Graduation ceremony. Max looks back at her with a big smile on his face like he knows a happy secret and Liz smiles a little self-consciously, blushing. It was adorable.

That look just hit you right in the heart. There were no regrets in that exchange, but still Max decided it couldn't end like this. Not for his friends and especially not for Liz. He stood up and went to the podium and bought some time. Michael truly saved his ass in that moment.

And I thought the way they reconciled Maria/Michael was so lame. They deserved better than that. But their break up in S3 never made much sense anyway.

Oh, and did you notice Liz in Max's jacket in that scene before Jesse shows up in the desert? It looked so huge on her.

I remember that poor Brendan broke one of his arms maybe for this reason too the scene with Maria wasn't so long. notice the way they "cropped" their hug. because he couldn't hug her with both arms
the problem with M&M is that the writers should have made a reconciliation between them BEFORE graduation. it was like if they believed that they had more episodes and then they were trapped into only one.
it was like for M&L cementing. they believed that they had all the time to do it but then the UPN shortened the series

Max was the only one who wasn't wearing one

Do aliens even get cold? They never wore much clothing in the winter episodes.
