Thanks Jen! What a great account you gave. Cool that you and Tek got interviewed too. I actually love the hat and I didn't think I would at first, but seeing it up close it's a beautiful hat. And since KaDee gave it to him, how could he not wear it? But I respect everyone's opinion of course. Very cool!

Amanda Brooks is very pretty. Love the arm band thing she has going on.

Thank you Jen....wonderful reporting!

my favorite picture of all!!! >

well...I'll say this about the hat/hair.... can't say I love Katies cornrows but she looks the best in them since whats her face in the movie "10" and the off center part really helps them look good....the hat...hmmmm.... I almost liked it...liked the straw shineyness but the profile (for me and really who cares) was too short/stubby) but the devil may care attitude needed for those two kids to have fun with fashion...priceless!!!! so that makes me love the hat hair combo a lot!

Jenn: Thank you for the excellent report and the photos!

You got some really good pix!

That's very cool that you were chatting with KaDee! She sounds like she is a total sweetie!

Also very cool that you and Tek got interviewed!

As for the hat... I rather like the hat. But totally understand how different people have different taste when it comes to that stuff.

Jason definitely does like his hats though eh!

Yvonne & Sirio: Thank you for posting the pix!

This one is kinda funny.... REVIEW - mean but funny... I never like really negative review but if they're well written, I can at least appreciate the writing and this man at least has some imagination and doesn't just tear it apart.

An American-Cast String of Cheese
'Dragon Wars: D-War'

Jason Behr in the 2007 movie "Dragon Wars." (Younggu Art Studios)
By ROGER MOORE | Sentinel Staff Writer
September 14, 2007

What do you want to bet that the most surprised people in the movie business are the cast of "Dragon Wars: D-War", a Korean-made, American-cast string of cheese opening in theaters this weekend? Surely none of these actors thought this just-a-paycheck creature feature would ever see the light of a U.S. cineplex.

Star Jason Behr, playing Ethan, a cable TV news reporter privy to info about an ancient Korean legend, didn't even bother to get a haircut. Silly Jason. Nobody on network news wear their hair like Napoleon Dynamite!

But "D-War" was a hit in Korea, and since the Korean monster movie The Host won props and decent box office over here, well, here's "D-War" -- the dumbest dragon movie since Dragonheart, and yes, I've seen Reign of Fire.

What must Robert "Jackie Brown" Forster's contract have looked like?

"Duties limited to exposition, exposition, occasional morphing into ancient martial arts wizard, doctors and soccer moms, and more exposition."

He explains the plot to young Ethan in a flashback, a Korean myth that says every 500 years dragons, lizards and other beasties under the command of Z-actors will rise up and try to get their teeth into a 20-year-old virgin.

Actually, "virgin" isn't specified. This is set in LA, after all.

Dragon sightings have the feds, the local police and psychiatrists all in a tizzy.

"This thing stared at me like my ex-wife!"

Legions of Cylons from the Battlestar Gallactica convention join the dragons and there you go, Ethan. There's your lead story for the 5 o'clock edition of "The News with Napoleon Dynamite."

Old "Jack," the Korean legend expert, does his odd bit of morphing to save Sarah, the girl, who is the reincarnated key to some sort of transformation that will allow good dragons or evil ones to rule the day.

Sarah is played by Amanda Brooks, who looks like an un-freckled Lindsay Lohan before the miles piled up.

"I never wanted any of this!"

She means she never wanted to be menaced by slithering dragons and this dark overseer with a shock of white hair (Michael Shamus Wiles).

Elizabeth Peña keeps a straight face as she explains the science of what's happening to the FBI.

The straight face thing is tricky, because once the digital whatever hits the fan and the streets of LA are filled with crashing helicopters, Cylons, flying dragons and scads of American troops in tanks, well, you'd have to be made of stone to not giggle.

Not that the actors saw any of that, it all being added, digitally, later.

They didn't think you'd see it, either. But again, a big hit in Korea, where imitating Honda is no longer enough. Now they're imitating Godzilla.
WEEKEND BOX OFFICE PREDICTIONS
Quote:
"Halloween" will be left to battle it out with newcomer "Dragon Wars," an action-fantasy opening at 2,275 theaters across the country. After a $9.5 million second weekend, "Halloween" should still be able to recoup around half of its receipts and finish around $4.5 to $5 million.

"Dragon Wars" has seen a limited marketing push and has dealt with issues about whether to officially change its title or not, making it a weekend wild card. While it's very possible it will finish out of the top five, it is playing at enough theaters to possibly push as high as number four behind "Mr. Woodcock."

But playing at a lot of theaters doesn't guarantee anything; look no further than the $5.7 million "Shoot 'Em Up" pulled down on its 2,100 theaters during its release. "Dragon Wars" also has a disadvantage compared with "Shoot 'Em Up" without the star power of a Clive Owen heading its cast. While number four on the charts is possible, instead look for "Dragon Wars" to pull down in the neighborhood of $4-$4.5 million and finish at number six.
Here's another interview with Craig and a new promo pic I've never seen.
Quote:
Interview: Craig Robinson
The star of D-War discusses his ever-expanding repertoire of roles.
by Todd Gilchrist
September 14, 2007 - It's hard to imagine you might not know on sight a guy who has appeared on Friends, Arrested Development, Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office and in the film Knocked Up. But Craig Robinson says he's content to slowly build a presence in the entertainment industry rather than necessarily breaking through and then being unprepared to handle overnight success. Speaking to the actor via phone, he exudes nonchalance and humility, even when he's talking about choice roles in anticipated blockbusters like The Pineapple Express and Walk Hard.

In his latest film, the science-fiction epic Dragon Wars, Robinson plays a Los Angeleno caught up in the middle of an ages-old battle between mammoth Korean monsters. But given the actor's talent and patience, Robinson seems poised to soon become as big and formidable a presence as the dragons with which he shares the screen.

IGN Movies: This movie seems like it was made a while ago. Is it tough to remember the experience on set when you're doing interviews like these?

Craig Robinson: Absolutely. In 2004 we shot it, so you've got to track backwards, absolutely.

IGN: Looking at some of the available clips, the film seems to merge a lot of Eastern elements with Western ones. How well do you feel the production sort of integrated those elements?

Robinson: I thought it came together, especially with the Eastern dragons that they used. It was just like a hectic time in Los Angeles and I thought it came together pretty smoothly.

IGN: Was all of it shot in Los Angeles?

Robinson: Except for those Korean parts you saw, yeah.

IGN: When you're reacting to creatures that aren't there, is there a technical challenge in making sure that the scene is believable or is there an emotional component to that as well?

Robinson: You hit the nail on the head. You imagine what's going on, like a big gigantic snake following you, and then you react. I think I screamed [laughs].

IGN: Is that simply a part of your job as an actor or is there something fun and silly about pretending on that scale?

Robinson: Definitely, it's a natural part of the job. It's what you do all day when you're by yourself anyway, so it's built in.

IGN: What kind of direction did you receive from the filmmaker that might have been different from what you've gotten from American directors?

Robinson: [Director Hyung-rae Shim] communicated mostly through a translator, so it was a challenge just because of that. He got what he wanted out of us, but it was kind of difficult to follow him sometimes. It was a very interesting experience and it was cool, though.

IGN: What surprised or gratified you the most to see in the finished film?

Robinson: I really enjoyed the CGI. I mean, they really went to great lengths to make it phenomenal. That one battle scene [previewed at Comic-Con] was just crazy, so it was exciting but it's a crazy ride all of the way through. It's funny explaining the movie because I'm like, "Yeah, I'm in a movie with dragons." But I can't wait to hear people's reactions.

IGN: Having done so much TV, is it tougher or easier to create a role over a number of episodes than to define a self-contained character in one shot in a movie?

Robinson: Each role presents its own challenge, so I don't think it's easier or harder. When I start thinking about a role, I read the script a few times and then let it sink in - and then take some time to develop how that character is going to play out and what he's going to do.

IGN: In Knocked Up, you have that great scene-stealing moment with Leslie Mann and Katherine Heigl. In scenes like that are you actively trying to stand out or are you just trying to integrate into the story?

Robinson: Well, in that scene Judd Apatow continued to remind you to keep it real; he wants it honest, and that's exactly where I was playing it from. Because Leslie Mann's character was bringing so much of that emotion, a lot of the words he was saying were kind of hurtful to her so he was kind of battling with her, but it was an honest moment and a collaborative effort.

IGN: Does appearing in one scene like that make it easier to integrate yourself into other similar productions like The Pineapple Express and Walk Hard?

Robinson: Absolutely. You get the lay of the land, you know? You see how people are working, and Pineapple Express was a great experience because [director] David Gordon Green is just crazy and he was a lot of fun to work with. He was trying so many different interesting things, so it was complete trust for me even though I was feeling very vulnerable as an actor in that position because it was an extended role.

Walk Hard was very interesting because I had to sing in that one, and the role was originally for Jerry Minor but he got into a series and they called me to do it. I got the song the next day, and then recorded it the next day and performed it the day after that.

IGN: Walk Hard is a movie that is aware of being a satire or parody of these music biopics. Do you as an actor have to maintain a level of self-awareness when you're playing a role in a film like that or do you just give yourself to the material?

Robinson: Give yourself over, absolutely. You have your self-awareness, but you want to let that go so you can lose yourself in the character. Improv and things come because you're like, "What would that character say?" As opposed to, "What would I say in that situation?"

IGN: Do you prefer situations where you are encouraged or able to improvise or ones where you're working from a script.

Robinson: I can roll either way. It's all fun to me.

IGN: Do you have a preference between those small scene-stealing roles or leading-man roles?

Robinson: I'm enjoying the ride that I'm on, actually. You know, if those opportunities pop I'll be ready, but it's an education to go through the steps of it. Like I played a lot of SAG characters and then it's like it's time to become a recurring character, and from recurring to regular. Some people go straight to leading this or that, but mine seems like I'll go from one lane to the next, and I like to see that progress.
