We're supposed to get more snow tomorrow night and then again Sunday night before it starts to get back into the 30s and not below zero at night. Finally. I don't want to go skiing when it's in the teens, sometimes that's just too cold.

I had to order a new ski jacket yesterday and fingers crossed it's delivered by next Monday like they said it will be. I way sized up on this. The last jacket I bought I didn't size up, it fit but I couldn't wear anything super heavy underneath and it drove me nuts. But then I read the reviews on it and people were like, "size up two sizes at least!" My bad. I sized up on this jacket and watch me be swimming in it.

The only thing I like about the constant snow and it not really being cleared yet, still, is that I can be in the office in snow boots all day and not get any looks.

I've never watched Peaky Blinders and I watched season one of Outlander and maybe part of season two and then ditched it. I can't remember why. I did like the series, became really really into it and overdosed on it and then dropped it real quick. Does the quality hold up over the seasons?

I finished The Sinner season 3 and it was just okay, the other two seasons were better. Matt Bomer was good but the story was just too obvious for me.

I have another friend who recommended The Sinner to me but I haven't really been able to watch much tv lately. And when I do, I usually rewatch something. I go through these stages when I feel I really shouldn't get sucked into a new series that I don't have the disciple to stop watching when I need to. I'm in one of those right now so, I'm doing a lot of rewatching instead.

I sure hope the weather turns around for you all in the coming week ... it sounds like everyone needs a break from the unpredictable.

I'm having a hard time finding new things to watch so I have just been watching a lot of comfort tv shows that are good to just have on in the background while I work. I'm considering rewatching The Wire, I've seen it a few times but it's been awhile.

I can't remember the name of the city in Texas, but the mayor came out and was like, stop whining, suck it up, blah blah blah. I think he resigned today. His response to the problems in Texas right now went viral.

OMG! That's insane! People are literally freezing to death due to no fault of their own.

ETA: looked it up. Even his apology was awful! I cannot believe this guy. WOW!

I had a friend on Facebook (I went to college with him) joking about what was going on in Texas and so many people called him out. He's legitimately an amateur comedian, and he apologized. I mean that never happens.

I heard that a hospital in Austin lost water pressure and they have to evacuate 300+ patients...but to where?

Oh no! I hadn't heard that. They'd have to go to the next closest facility that had the room. Yikes!

Hi ladies! I just came to make sure you were all OK, especially you, Kayla. I’m relieved to hear you have power and have at least some heat. I lost power once during a cold snap and it’s not fun. But thankfully I only had to endure one night. My heart goes out to everyone suffering right now. Portland, also, has been powerless for a week or so I think.

I only read back a couple of pages. I know I keep popping in and out like a game of whack-a-mole lol but I think about you guys all the time. I still get the daily updates.

I begrudgingly watched Bridgerton for a writing project and ended up liking it much more than I expected. The sex scenes with Daphne and Simon didn’t bother me. Lol I thought both the characters looked the right age. And to me the actress looked to be in her early 20s and him about 29 or 30, so I didn’t really notice an age difference. I didn’t like Anthony at all, though when I saw the actor in real life, he’s gorgeous and seems really nice. So I’m in for season 2.

I loved Sex and the City, but I never watched the Wire. It’s on my always-growing list.

I hope you all had a happy new year! I can’t believe it’s mid-February already; and yet this year so far hasn’t been so great with all the deaths, the insurrection, the weather, and of course the continuing pandemic. Again, I hope you’re all OK. Amanda, I’m glad you could get your parents signed up for the vaccine.

I watched the first 3 seasons of Outlander and then stopped. I guess maybe I got bored of it? The second season was so disturbing. I'm rewatching season 3 and I don't remember most of it, so there's that. But I am liking it again. I guess I needed a break. A-I guess you aren't going to finish Mr. Robot? My parents have been here a lot and are shocked at the mindless TV I watch.. anything from the 70s & 80s The Facts of Life, Threes Company, The Love Boat haha And then of course The Housewives.... Teen Mom....

I've seen crazy Tik Tok videos from Texas. Broken water pipes just raining down water in homes, collapsed ceilings and the people are just distraught and crying. Exactly what I would do in an emergency -make a Tik Tok video! But people are commenting.. SHUT YOUR WATER OFF! lol And Ted Cruz, Mr. I HATE SOCIALISM is begging for help now, oh and he also jumped on a plane to Cancun. I hate him.

My parents get their second shot tomorrow. My SIL's parents had it yesterday and no reaction! SO many people get sick from the second shot.

I just made sausage and peppers. It was okay. I don't claim to be a chef, but the sausage was too sweet and from Whole Foods, so none of the crappy **** that tastes so good.

Lornette, it always makes me so happy to see your name pop up on here. I hope you're doing well. Come see us more! I know it's quiet in Taylor land but we miss you.

I actually started Broadchurch yesterday, which, not sure why that's never been on my list because it's right in my wheelhouse. I think I got a few episodes into Mr. Robot season 2 and then realized I didn't know what was going on and needed to pay closer attention, which is not exactly my strong suit at the moment. I'll go back to it.

I can't with the lie that the issue in Texas is that the green energy is what failed when it accounts for like 13% of the total energy. Just own up to it, the natural gas lines froze, they're not winterized, you didn't expect it. But stop deflecting. And Ted Cruz is so gross. He's an idiot too, how in his right mind did he believe it would be okay to hop a plane to Cancun. I don't care if it was planned, any PR person would say that the optics look terrible to be abandoning your state during a crisis, if you can do anything about it or not.

I think my parents are getting the moderna shot. Though they're getting it through Rite-Aid and I saw today locally they had to cancel appointments and reschedule because they don't have the vaccine. My bosses wife got her first shot a month ago through the county and they can't schedule her second because they don't have enough vaccines. What a cluster ****.

Yes, you definitely need to pay attention to Mr. Robot, and even then sometimes you're like HUH???? But it's supposed to be like that. Keeps you wondering.

I hate that some politicians just literally blatantly lie. How can two different people say the exact opposite about the same situation? So insane. I was reading comments on a friends Facebook post the other day. Its just scary. They still think the election was rigged, that the evidence is pouring in, and that Trump will be reinstated. Someone wrote..Trump still has control of the military. Ugh.

I mean there's obviously something deeper going on but once it became completely obvious and I realized I needed to be paying closer attention. I also feel like I need to be in a certain mood for it. But I will definitely go back to it. Right now it's Sex and the City rewatch and Broadchurch for me.

I saw the Governor of Texas speaking to local media and saying one thing and then hitting Fox news and saying something completely different. It's just really gross. They're so afraid of Trump and this cult like following he's created that they are still attempting to cater to that base, but it's dangerous. I don't even feel bad about calling it a cult, because attempting to continue to perpetuate the lie that Trump won the election is dangerous, period. He even tried to do it when he was on Fox News the other day to talk about the death of Rush. He's STILL not letting it go.

I saw today that Abbott says he's taking responsibility for ERCOT. I don't know exactly what that means to us. About 21.5% of our energy is wind and solar. I don't know enough about it to know who to blame. I'm sure the wind turbines did freeze. But because they weren't winterized properly, to save profits. I'm all for renewable energy if it's done correctly. I'm sure the natural gas pipes froze, bc they weren't insulated when they were put in to save profits. There are things that should have been done after 2010, and they were not, again to save profits. It's clear that very poor choices have been made, and this is a cluster of epic proportions. If the average person did their job like this, they would have no job.
I've heard that the ERCOT board in 2010 voted to not fix the issues. I've heard none of the board lives in Texas, I've heard they all live here, I've heard Abbott hand-picked each member. I have no idea. I can't keep up with it.

I've hit a wall and my sunny disposition is fading. We spent the better part of the day gathering snow/ice and melting it for toilets and washing dishes. The dishes are not clean enough for me, so we can't eat off of them or clean any pots and pans to cook on. When I say clean enough, they still have a film on them and I can't rinse them clean. They are in the dishwasher awaiting water restoration.

The repairman has promised to be at my house by Saturday. The city has water issues all its own and I don't know that when our pipe is fixed if I will have water to turn on. The water plant lost power, it caused reserves to be used, the pressure went down, boil notice went out. The plant is back online now but said they will be "methodically checking all the pipes" to make sure there are no leaks or breaks. This could take days.
Baby Minion said today that I was dehydrated. Yes, I know! I'm trying to conserve water. I typically drink over a gallon a day, and that's all I really drink. I am so thirsty. I have no idea how long I need to make what we have last! I had filled one bathtub, but it drained out within a few hours! We've never taken a bath in it, so I didn't know.

Grocery stores are bare and water is sold out across the city. Good News: tomorrow is 41 and sunny. Ice should melt enough for HEB to get trucks to the stores. Bad News: 1/2 the city has lost all their food to power outages. I can only imagine the stampede to the chaos that will be. And bad news II: the snow melts and we lose our toilet flushing water.

I need a shower, clean sheets, and clean clothes. I want to cook a hot meal with the food I have. I am so over all of this. I realize we are better off than so so many. That is not lost to me. I literally cried when I realized I couldn't wash the dishes and then use them. My MIL sent me a trick...wrap our bowls and plates in plastic wrap so they don't get dirty. Throw the plastic wrap away after your meal. That will be helpful!

This is just exhausting me. I'm so ready for it to be over.
