I'm sure millions of women with belly button rings have had babies. You will be fine. lol

Did the guy respond to your text? That's the worst. I hate breaking up with guys. I'm so not good at it. I usually just let things fizzle out. I haven't returned Philly banker guy's phone calls in awhile. Actually I texted him today and told him I was going to Atlanta and we would get together when I got back. I haven't heard back from him. The good thing about him though, is that he doesn't care.... he'll be fine with that.

Just the complications with it, that it stretches so far and itches and can sometimes become really infected. Ugh, I'm sure I'll have more things to worry about but still, add it to the list if I ever do have kids.

I basically knew I was going to not go out with him again after our last date but was trying to just let it fizzle a little. He's a super texter, like every morning texting me and throughout the day and it just irritates me, I'm not a huge texter. So I didn't respond for a day and then kind of gave basic and indifferent answers, but he didn't seem to be getting the hint so I had to lay the hammer down with the, "i don't think we really have any chemistry" text. Which I don't think we do...he said he thought that we should keep giving it a couple more dates. Buddy, it's been five. If I'm not feeling it, I'm not feeling it. I still feel bad though. He was genuinely nice. I need a guy like your banker that I see like once a month.

So many posts! How do I keep up?

Vacation sounds fun! My vacations are just sending the minions away. So not the same thing.

They are supposed to go to grief camp tomorrow (later today). Oldest is sick and I'm not sending her to the woods for three days with a probable ear infection. Her ears have been messed up since she landed Tuesday. Baby minion doesn't want to go without her and is being a holy terror. He is so going!

I'm happy to see the skinny jean die... especially on guys.

I had big issues with my 3rd holes. I let them close a long time ago. My second holes I could probably still get earrings into. My first holes I've had since I was 4. We won't dwell on how many years that means I've had them. I cannot wear anything but sterling silver or gold. Even nickel-free and hypoallergenic make my ears light on fire and turn blood red within minutes. I had stopped wearing them altogether. I had a pair of diamond earrings Lee gave me and I lost one years ago. I've been sick about it for ages. I finally decided to replace it and I've been wearing them for a few weeks now. I also took my wedding ring apart and put the solitaire into a pendant. I LOVE it! It's sooo pretty!

A, you can't take stuff out of the donate bags... that defeats the purpose. Go give the bags away, NOW.

I bet the sailboat race is really fun and so beautiful to see!

A, I'm sad for you that he didn't take the hint and you had to spell it out for him. I know you wanted to avoid that. Even worse, he wanted to keep trying. Poor guy.

It was 101 at 7:15 this evening. Dallas is a concrete jungle. I am so excited to see if Austin is cooler in the evenings!

I went to camp for a week twice as a kid, I think like late elementary/early middle school age. I loved it the first time, was so much fun. The second time my brother came and he was homesick and it made me homesick. It was just a different experience. Sometimes it's better to not have to worry about a loved one and how they're doing while you're trying to have fun.

I took out the earring to let my ear settle down and I'm hoping by the time the new set gets here they won't reject it quite so hard. Or if they do I suck it up. It's just crazy as soon as I took it out, not 12 hours later it was completely back to normal.

I know, I know, get rid of the donation bags immediately. But in this case it was a good thing because it was a very specific dress I was looking for and was glad I found it. Sometimes I get into purge mode and over purge and that was the case here.

Dating in general just sucks. Ultimately you're either going to get rejected or have to reject someone, both of which are my worst nightmare. I almost would rather be the one rejected because then I'm not hurting someones feelings. I hate that.

I thought they were kind of going overboard with this heatwave thing. It's not like we haven't had a week of 100+ temps without the heat index before...but I can see why they've issued it. With the humidity it feels well into the 100's before noon. It's supposed to be 100 tomorrow without the heat index which will make it feel about 113. The only time I've felt heat like that was when I was in Vegas in July. It's just stifling, and believe it or not a lot of people up here don't have air conditioning. Yes it gets hot in the summers but generally at night it will cool down so you can get it cooled off in your house. That's not happening this weekend either, I think the lows are in the low 80's.

I will forever tout that I made it through the hottest summer in the metro Detroit area on record without air conditioning. It was miserable, I had a fan system going and would be happy when I could get it below 80 in the house at night. It was awful.

Legitimately bad luck following me. We had a crazy storm pass through at home last night with 70 mph winds and I lost power. So this morning still no power and close to 100 degrees so no air, I decide to go up north because might as well be miserable on the water and watch the sailboat race. Get up north and then another storm runs through up there this afternoon, a tree falls on our cottage and we lose power.

Also, my cousin who has leukemia had a stroke yesterday. His wife knew immediately what it was and got him to the hospital, which luckily he's stationed at Walter Reed for treatment and is right next to the hospital so he was there in minutes. They gave him the medication to break up the clot. But it's just so hard...he'd been going through his toughest chemo round, he'd been sick, but there was light at the end of the tunnel. When he was through this round he'd start maintenance monthly as opposed to weekly treatments. And now this will delay his treatments, not to mention trying to figure out what caused the stroke, whether it be one of the chemo meds or a result of the treatments.

So, I'm at a bar right now using their wifi, because no air, no power. Ugh.

I don’t know where to start. I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin. I hope they can find a way to prevent any further seizures.

No power and no air would be awful. How long will it be out? At the cottage and home?

I’m so sorry to hear about your cousin. Will he have any lasting debilitation like muscle weakness or speech issues?

I got so tired of hearing about the heat that I turned off the news. I have no idea how hot it actually got today. I was out all day, though mostly in the car with the AC on. The car said it was 97 so I’m assuming it fell like in the 100s. Thing is I realized that maybe there really are people who need to be told about staying cool, drinking lots of water, etc. Heat is no joke. When I lived in Arizona for a while, I quickly learned that heat exhaustion and heat stroke can sneak up on you.

They don't really know yet. He's still in the hospital until at least tomorrow night. They're trying to figure out what caused it to make sure it doesn't happen again. He still has another month of this chemo treatment after he recovers from this so they want to make sure it's not one of the drugs that are making him more susceptible to clots. Though my uncle did say that his counts had been low (they check his levels weekly before treatment to make sure his body can handle the chemo), that whatever enzyme you have that aids your body in not throwing clots was really low before he had the stroke. So who knows.

Edit, update: They don't think it was a stroke at all, they admitted him Friday to administer the drugs because it was classic symptoms of stroke but his scans were coming back fine. They kept him in the hospital for observation and sent him to his normal "home" ward where he stays for chemo treatment each week and he was okay and feeling better Saturday but last night started to feel weird again and had slurred speech and weakness on his right side, his MRI's and scans were coming back okay, no damage to the brain and not typical scans that would indicate strokes. They now believe it has something to do with the toxicity of the chemo drug he's receiving this round. He's most frustrated with having to lay flat for 24 hours at the moment but in good spirits that what happened seems to be completely fixable.

They don't have an estimation, they're saying they're hoping to get people back up with power by Tuesday. They've called in lineman from out of state to help restore power. There was no power at the cottage when I left, that tree fell on the cottage but that's not why we lost power, there's about a 30 mile stretch along Lake Huron in the thumb that's without power and we're in it. I have a friend and her little one coming up there next weekend and I'm going to have to do a deep clean of that fridge when I get up there with the power being out that long.

Thankfully it's on at home. I guess I can count myself lucky that I lost power Friday night since that bumped us to the top of the line before anyone who lost it last night. My office is without power too and they're estimating Tuesday there...those storms were no joke. The number of trees down, healthy really big trees just brought up at their roots is actually stunning.

I thought the Excessive Heat Warning was a bit much, but I did see some statistic that heat kills more than hurricanes and tornados do in a year. So that's kind of eye opening. I didn't think it felt that bad out there yesterday before I left to go up north, I was watering the flowers and realized I was dripping sweat. Just walking around and holding a hose for like 20 minutes, so it was pretty bad. The humidity made it 20x worse.

I'm glad that your cousin seems to have suffered no damage and they can correct the cause of his episode, for lack of a better word.

The weather this year really seems to be odd and extreme. I hope y'all get your power back quickly!

Some days are less fair than others. Today proved terribly unfair for friends that are family to me. My oldest friend (we are only 90 days apart and our moms put our baby carriers together when they would go to lunch) lost her sister today. She has a daughter Oldest Minion's age. I am just heartbroken. Apparently, she's been sick with a very rare disease. I just don't have words. I've been upset all day.

That's so upsetting when someone is gone too soon. I'm sorry. There's just really nothing to say in those instances. It's a depressing week. I have to go to a viewing today and another on Friday.

My cousin didn't have a stroke but is suffering from methotrexate toxicity, which is one of the chemo drugs that is administered that is causing these symptoms. He's still in the hospital and has to go for 48 hours without having an episode before they'll release him but at least it wasn't a stroke.

I will not deny climate change, obviously it's an issue, but at least once a year we'll be threatened up here with the possibility of a derecho, which is a wind based line of storms that marches across the state and gains steam because of the lake...they're the scariest storms because of the wind aspect, the wind speeds can reach hurricane force and then result in these crazy power outages to millions of people.

I'm so sorry to hear about all the misfortunes everyone has had the last few days! Praying for your cousin A. That chemo is no joke. I hope one day they find another way to help cancer patients. It's so brutal.

I'm still in Charleston, SC right now. I'm SO happy I missed the heatwave at home. I know a lot of people lost power and it was brutal. It was high eighties in Atlanta. Today in Charleston it was 91, which was hot since we were doing a lot of walking, but still cooler than at home!

I used to go to softball camp every summer, but never sleep away camp. Nobody really did. The kids where I teach all go away to sleep-away camp all summer. I wouldn't have wanted to go all summer but a week or two might have been fun.

They're still convinced it s that toxicity, but they've been treating it and he'd been okay for over 24 hours and then had another episode of slurred speech and weakness/numbness on his right side this afternoon. So it's concerning that they're apparently treating it and it's not working and that he hadn't had that particular drug in over two weeks, so of course there's questions as to whether that's really what is causing this or it's something else. It's just a cloud hanging over things. Does not help having to go to a viewing today. A colleague lost his wife and a friend of mine from high school lost her dad.

And, yeah, you think cancer is the scariest part but don't take into account everything along the way that could cause complications. The drugs they're using to kill the cancer and keep it away are so toxic.

It's so weird to hear it's been warmer up here and on the east coast then it is in most places down south. The heatwave broke here yesterday and it went down into the 50's last night. I went to work yesterday not really checking the forecast assume it would be warm again and froze for most of the day in the dress I was wearing.

Camp for one week was fine, but I wouldn't want to do the whole summer. I would have missed my friends. I think extended summer camps seems like an east coast thing. My brother's girlfriend went to a two month camp in Maine, but she was from Long Island...but she also had a German nanny so she fully lived that Gold Coast New York lifestyle.

Sorry to hear about your cousin Amanda. It must be really worrying for you all. I hope he recovers soon.

So sorry to hear about your friend too Kayla. Sometimes life just sucks.

We've been having something of a heatwave here too. . . And because it just doesn't happen often, nobody can cope!

The kids have finally broken up from school here and it's already driving me mad having both girls here ALL DAY! Summer camp isn't a thing here because that is seeming like a very attractive option right now! . . . In fact, I feel like escaping myself. Today is the day we get our new Prime Minister and I can't help feeling he will be as bad as your guy!

Hope everyone is ok :-)

He was maybe being discharged today, he was up and playing games so that's good. I wish he was closer. I saw him over the 4th but he wasn't feeling great.

Do you guys all have central air there or is that not a thing in the UK?

I was thinking about summer with kids a few weeks ago, how do both parents that work even manage. I now see the appeal of having a stay at home parent. Daycare, if you don't have a willing family member to help with the load, has to be so expensive. Both my parents worked and my grandma took some of the summer responsibilities for awhile and then we did daycare for awhile, then our neighborhood swim club became my babysitter when I was a little older in the summer.

I finished Stranger Things and really liked the third season. I loved some of the new characters and had no idea that Robyn is Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke's daughter. She was great!
