Me either, but I usually do notice!

Replying to some things from the last thread:

It's really cold here too. Feels like the teens and single digits. We got snow overnight, and we're supposed to get more tonight and all day tomorrow. I'm looking forward to spring already! Haha.

Call Me By Your Name premiered at Sundance in January and critics have been praising it ever since. I feel like it's this year's film that they're cramming down our throats. I'm not saying it's not worthy (I haven't seen it yet), but there's always that one. I expect it to be an Oscar front-runner for that reason.

I think Armie Hammer peaked in the Social Network. Haha. I've found him terribly dull in everything I've seen him in since. BUT, I've watched him in some interviews and he seems nice. So I'm torn. His recent comments/the Buzzfeed reaction didn't really bother me.

Someone decided to put Get Out in the comedy category and it caused a stir because you're right, it's NOT a comedy. Even though it's hysterical in parts. The whole thing caused such a fuss that the writer-director (Jordan Peele) tweeted that it was a documentary. lol (No, it's not that either. lol) I wouldn't call it a horror movie either, though. It combines horror, comedy, satire, sci fi and social commentary. It's my second-favorite movie of the year so far.

I hate to say it, but I'm surprised but not shocked that OTB hasn't gotten anything. I believe that it's all about hype now. If the critics aren't out there pushing your film (see Call Me By Your Name, and even Get Out), it just slowly fades away.

I actually think Jennifer Lawrence is deserving of a nomination. She was the only thing good about that movie. But the movie has such a stink on it, I think people just want it to go away.

I'm generally so disinterested in awards this year, I haven't even read the list of GG nominees. I figure I'll get to it eventually. I hope Sam Rockwell was nominated for Three Billboards. He, in my opinion, deserves all the supporting-actor awards.

I agree about the Walking Dead situation. They did that kid so dirty, it makes me not want to watch the show anymore. It's just one more reason to dislike it now. Like a lot of fans, I thought it was HIS wish to leave, but clearly they let us believe that. If his dad hadn't posted to Facebook, we'd never know the truth. And this is the show where all the cast and crew rave about it being a "family" and everyone loving each other. Yes, business is business. But that was just a crappy move.

We're about to get dumped on today. 7-10 inches, but the worst part is that the heaviest, like at a rate of 2 inches an hour, is going to happen right at rush hour this evening. I'm trying to make my court runs now so I don't have to deal with being stuck 45 minutes from home. It'll take me hours to get home in the evening commute.

I've only ever seen Armie in Social Network, which I thought he was fine in, and then his small part in Nocturnal Animals.

The only thing that OTB was maybe in line to be nominated for was special effects, and when the Oscars announced the top 20 that had made the cut for consideration and OTB wasn't even listed in that, I knew it wasn't going to come to fruition.

I still need to see Get Out. I'm hoping to see I, Tonya or The Disaster Artist this weekend.

But, like Lornette said, you can have movies that are overall critically loved, like Only the Brave, but if you don't have the campaign behind it and the foresight to plan for an awards season run then it'll get lost in the shuffle. Like movies like Stronger and Battle of the Sexes were set up for awards season run but just aren't getting the love. The first indication OTB wasn't going to be an awards season contender was it's lack of presence at the festival circuit.

Y’all can keep the snow!
This weather is wreaking havoc on my respiratory system and I’m over it.

It's pretty but annoying. I had to shovel twice, but it was super light. This much snow pretty much guarantees a white Christmas, so I'm happy about that.

I made the mistake of ordering alcohol from out of state and forgetting that it needs to be signed by someone when delivered. So sending it to my house was a mistake. I'm never going to get this freaking package. I've missed two delivery attempts and today I was even home early but then had to run back out and missed them by 10 minutes.

So Roseanne premieres March 27th. I'm so excited. I also had no idea that Debbie from Shameless is playing Darlene's daughter.

Having both Beckies is weird. Didn’t it end with them winning the lottery or something like that?

The whole thing was her writing a story, so they didn't really win the lottery. I think they are going to disregard a lot of what happened in the series finale. I didn't realize that was Debbie from Shameless! She looks just like Darlene.

I still haven't even started shopping yet! It looks like everyone's getting gift cards this year. Except for my young niece, but she has sooo much stuff already, I don't know what to get her! Are you and the minions all set for Christmas?

Roseanne looks good there! I hope the show's good. I thought I'd never get used to Becky 2, Sarah Chalke. But then I ended up really liking her as an actress in other stuff. She used to be really fun with Craig Ferguson on his talk show.

I saw The Last Jedi at a midnight showing Thursday night. About halfway through, as I'm sitting there enthralled, I realized I really am a HUGE nerd. lol How many single, adult women my age race to see Star Wars alone on a Thursday night??

Anyway, I really liked it. The cast is uniformly great, and Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill have never been better in not just SW but in anything. The movie felt a little long, but I liked even the "nonessential" scenes. Overall I liked Rogue One better, I think, but I'd have to watch it fresh.

Btw, if you are a SW fan and plan to see it, I'd recommend going sooner rather than later, and NOT reading anything about it. There are cliffhanger-type moments and twists that are better to experience without knowing about them first.

FedEx delivered my bourbon yesterday while I was home, I had no clue they delivered on Saturday. That was one of the last gifts I was waiting on. They don't make it anymore and it's my bosses favorite. He better appreciate it.

Otherwise I'm done shopping, mostly. There's always last minute things I pick up here or there. Like a friend is in town I wasn't expecting to see so now I have to get her a gift.

I was in Canada last night for my friends' family annual black tie Christmas party. Their house is so beautiful, but yeah, super hungover today. We stayed at the casino last night and decided it was a good idea to gamble when we were shuttled back there. I won nothing...

I actually haven't seen any of the new Star Wars movies. I've seen the original three, I've see the prequels but that was growing up in a house with a younger brother...I'm sure I'll eventually see the newer movies. I love Adam Driver.
