They definitely went to a genuine rodeo. I remember Pete or Jason mentioning that they knew they wanted to do an episode with a Texas rodeo so they went and found one.

I’ve never been to a rodeo with carnival rides.

We get a rodeo later too, with the Cash episodes.

There are definitely holes in their development. That one scene at the beginning of the season, him hitting golf balls in the high grass and she pulls up in the truck. They break up. He seemed so uninterested and wanted nothing to do with her. And then he just turns on a dime.... a few times.
