I know they're actually doing a Waco movie, with a theatrical release. I don't know how far into the development that is. It was announced last year while Taylor was filming the mini-series.
They're doing another Manson movie with Brad Pitt, DiCaprio, Margot Robbie. But Jonestown sounds about right. I'm surprised we haven't gotten an Elizabeth Smart series yet. I love Mindhunter, but that's just based on true events mixed in with fiction. From the previous thread: Quote:

Elizabeth Smart would be good. There was something done closer to when it happened. A new series would be good.

It was announced almost 3 years ago that they were making a Jonestown series for HBO. The writer from Breaking Bad was behind it and Jake Gyllenhaal was to star. . . This was in January 2016. I don't know what happened.

Maybe they're starting to hold off on some of the true crime since it seems like the market is a little over saturated. I want to say that wasn't Ryan Murphy doing American Crime Story on the Clinton Scandal and that backed out on it too?

I know there's been at least one Elizabeth Smart movie so far.
I heard they were doing Monica Lewinsky. __________________

The last I heard he'd decided not to do it, I had to look it up, he said that he ran into Lewinsky and said if she didn't want it told or wasn't part of it he wouldn't do it.
https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood...ky-ryan-murphy They're apparently still doing the Hurricane Katrina version of American Crime. |

They are doing a Waco movie? I didn’t know about that. Will Taylor reprise the role as David or is it going to be a completely different cast?

I don't know if there were any actors attached to it. It was just announced that it had been greenlit.

Well, if that movie actually happens, it’d be unfair if it gets the promotion and recognition that the mini series should have had.

It's a completely different production so we'll see. I think the fact that Waco was on a new network really kind of did it in popularity wise. I keep waiting and waiting for DVD news or for it to be picked up by a streaming network but nothing so far.

It STILL hasn't aired/been planned to air over here!
I just googled to check for a date and the first result was the Guardian review. Which I've read several times and hate. The reporter seems to write more 2 star reviews than anything else! The fact that the review was from the Guardian though, led me to believe that there would be a release date at least pencilled in for it, but no! Anyway, the critic seems to confirm that a film is being made: "A defter creative hand might be able to carve an affecting and relevant saga out of the Waco quagmire, and for all we know, the forthcoming film by Jaume Collet-Serra, director of The Shallows, will be the one to do it." I also really like this description of Taylor: "an ornately mulleted Taylor Kitsch, two notches too handsome to make sense in the role" |
