I think she understood the job but part of her issue with it was how addictive it was for him. Like she said, he was only 10% hers and the rest of him was the fires and that wasn't enough. What they don't actually cover very much in the movie is that the Granite Mountain Hotshots worked crazy hours, hours that surpasses a lot of other hotshot crews and that was kind of Eric's call.

I mean the plane didn't help, but the way they died and where they were in that valley was just a perfect storm.

Did you ever watch the video from Chris's cell phone? I don't think I could stomach that.

I love when they are all walking in a line together. Reminds me of the Seven Dwarves.

worthyoflove 03-31-2018 09:03 PM

I think it's on youtube. I don't think I ever watched it. I kind of agree, it's like watching a video of someone die. The last words or view someone had, it feels a bit disrespectful.

That's crazy to me that they wouldn't know where they are. Like put some GPS trackers on them. I wonder if they do that now.

Commentary is not stopping me from tearing up when Rose calls out to Mack for reassurance that it's going to be okay.

What did he say about the shelters? They can withstand heat but not flames?

Miles nailed that scene. I don't know how actors do that?

worthyoflove 03-31-2018 09:08 PM

Yeah they can withstand heat up to 300 degrees, but that they can't survive direct flame. Which is why they try to clear the brush and a spot where they can deploy where the fire will move around them. But in that case where they were, with the way the winds were it was just like a tunnel of fire.

That is so devastating that the guy that found the bodies could still hear voices because the guys radios were working.

I can't even imagine. I try not to think about it, but what those last seconds must have been like and were they in pain etc. etc. ??? I hate it.

On a side note, the shelters look like baked potatoes in tin foil. I wonder why they were silver.

I didn't like the middle school scene at first but now I do because it's what really happened. But where was his family???

worthyoflove 03-31-2018 09:17 PM

I still don't understand how this song didn't even get Oscar consideration.

I love that they actually had all 19 guys portrayed on screen even if they didn't really get screen time no one was left out.

elherts 03-31-2018 09:19 PM

So sad.

worthyoflove 03-31-2018 09:22 PM

I wish there was an alternate happy ending. I feel bad saying this is such a great movie, it is because it makes you care about these guys and honors them. But it is just so so sad.

elherts 03-31-2018 09:23 PM

Did you see the deleted scene with Taylor?

worthyoflove 04-01-2018 06:12 PM

I did, he's kind of really mean. I'm glad they cut it.

James Badge Dale movie news. The cast of this is unreal!

Quote:

EXCLUSIVE: Common is in advanced negotiations and James Badge Dale has closed his deal to join Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish and Elisabeth Moss in New Line’s film adaptation of The Kitchen, based on the DC/Vertigo female-led crime comic book series. Jeremy Bobb (Godless, Manhunt: Unabomber) and Myk Watford (No Country for Old Men) also have been cast in this film written and directed by first-time helm Andrea Berloff.

Set in New York City’s Hell’s Kitchen during the 1970s, the story follows wives of Irish mobsters (McCarthy, Haddish and Moss) who team up to take over running the business after their husbands are sent to prison.

Common is in talks for the role of FBI agent Gary Silvers. Dale will play Kevin O’Carroll, a mob boss married to Ruby (Haddish). Bobb is Rob Walsh, a violent mobster married to Claire (Moss), and Watford will portray Little Jackie, who initially assumes control of one of the mob crews after his boss is sent to prison.

Domhnall Gleeson, Margo Martindale, Bill Camp and Brian d’Arcy James were previously announced as part of the cast.
