It was true they always had a plan for Kate and Jack to get together even if we had to wait for the afterlife but they felt like they needed to fill the time inbetween with angst and thus a triangle but it got out of hand and we ended with them together anyway. They definitely wasted a lot of time with the triangle and the "angst" did nto work because it was pretty obvious from the looks that they were in love

If I remember correctly, Jack's storyline and Jate's were already planned, and those of the others were created according to what they saw commented, and what the writers came up with. The triangle was to make them realize their feelings for each other but yes, they gave too much time in that to benefit the ratings. The fanservice was completely unnecessary. They were in love and always loved each other

It just made everyone of their fans frustrated when the drew out the triangle, it just didn't make sense and a lot of fans really blamed Kate but should have blamed the writers.

It didn't bring anything good, honestly. Sticking to the original plan cost them nothing. That triangle ruined (in part) Kate, and stole her potential as character

Yes she had so much potential and they ruined that I still loved her just not some of her decisons that seemed forced.

Same as Claire, even though, I think it was worst with Claire because at least with Kate, they gave her a reason to continue, but yes, some decisions were forced

Yes that is true they really ruined Claire I think the writers had a hard time writing women's parts
