Izzie's character was massacred for no reason (because Shonda had issues with KH and it seems they've done the same to Alex in the exact same way.

Nah, don't think so. GA kills off way too many characters as it is, at least this way they could in theory bring him back and fix the damage if he ever wanted to.

Nah, she'd just killed off George, so she couldn't kill Izzie too, would have made her grudge even more obvious.
