And if they can do that in children’s entertainment, all the more astounding. My children and I were breathless at the climax of Wolfwalkers by my favourite animation house @cartoonsaloon. They tell pressing, traditional Irish myths with such conviction they are more relevant to me than many modern films.

If you want a quality film to watch with your kids, or without, this weekend, I recommend this one. Beautiful artistry with classic pencil and paint animation, they don’t hold any stops for the mini-people watching. Their films respect children with mature and difficult content that is both challenging and uplifting.
