I finished Handmaid's Tale but the show does not really make sense. So women that can have babies are rare and they take those women and mate them to men of important status and this is their answer to the reproductive evolutionary crisis? Wow first of all sex is an incredibly ineffective way to increase the population, especially since the men are not tested (apparently since the one dude was likely infertile). Since I worked in infertility and I am a reproductive biologist my thought would be to inseminate the women, better yet superovulate them to make more eggs and transfer them to multiple women but trying this once a month ceremony on women that had prior babies was crazy and counterproductive since only about 20% of fertile sex encounter (meaning the female is ovulating and the male is in the fertile range ) results in a successful pregnancy - sure there is a range but there are better ways. Also secondary infertility is very common, maybe more so than primary infertility. Although I liked the show, it seems pretty stupid that they could not come up with a better way than forcing fertile women to be raped monthly to make rich people kids and at least one killed herself and another attempted it on the show which made the whole process more counter productive. Thanks for letting me rant, I hope I am in charge when the earth reaches this type of crisis, I would have a better solution

yeah I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch that show. I'm sure it's a good show but it sounds depressing. You should talk to the writers, you are the sperm and breeding expert

It doesn't make sense, they say they do it to have children but they are not even checking the males for fertility and the girls are basically sex slaves and the women are dominated by men even the wives. It would have worked better if they would have just inseminated women and it also seems it would have been best to recruit fertile women to willingly help with expanding the population, I mean even if it is just donating embryos or eggs. The whole thing seems too unnecessary The show is not bad it is well done but the premise of the story is not something that would really happen in my opinion.
