I actually disagree with the thread title and here's why. The critics didn't have anything to do with how poorly the movie was promoted. We saw Kristen promoting "Charlie's Angels" a lot but, the other two actresses basically did no promotion and it was awkward to watch when Kristen is a spokeswoman for Chanel and I didn't see her or the other actresses promoting "Charlie's Angels" in a major fashion magazine. I also didn't think that there was much done to market the movie to Miley Cyrus and Ariana Grande's fans both of which have many fans who use social media. I keep in mind that Miley and Ariana don't even often let their music appear on a major movie soundtrack and Ariana was the soundtrack's executive producer. I think that this movie had so many advantages that were never properly utilized and I think that Kristen should have waited for another A list star to join "Charlie's Angels" or for Elizabeth Banks to write an original screen play since Elizabeth was the main reason that Kristen was even involved with "Charlie's Angels." I also think that there was hardly any effort put towards promoting "Charlie's Angels" to people who don't follow Kristen or her career and as an example, even if someone doesn't follow Margot Robbie or her career, I am still sure that they were aware of her involvement in the Harley Quinn movie.

I think that Kristen really wanted to play a light hearted character and she also got to show off her comedic timing and she wanted a project that was inclusive for everyone.

Sure... Agree...

And she got to do that on SNL even if people overlook that, TPTB at SNL were kind to her and seemed to have taken some of her input for some of the sketches that that were aired.

That article reinforced that "Charlie's Angels" was really poorly marketed, there was no real effort to market the movie to Ariana and Miley's fans and I don't think that it would have taken a lot of effort to do that because of social media.

Nope, thats true... There were so many ways they could have done this Promo and stuff...

The studio relied way too much on Kristen alone and that looks awkward when it is really an ensemble movie.

They should have done more with the others too... Not just making it seem like Kristen were on her own...

Firecrest 03-26-2020 12:53 PM

Same here too, more power to the team.

I also felt that Kristen was oddly left on her to promote this movie when it would have been helpful to see some of the comradere between the the three Angels before seeing the movie and I know that Kristen was the most famous of all of the Angels but, I think that they were written off like afterthoughts. Many of the interviews that they did as a group were released after the movie was already released.

And more importantly, I want her to feel encouraged to be involved in a big budget movie at least from time to time and what happened with "Charlie's Angels" isn't going to help things in this situation.

She took the box office failure well but, I felt that she was also given too much blame when the movie studios didn't really promote "Charlie's Angels" to the millions of fans of Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus fans who like and use social media and didn't use Kristen's longtime partnership with Chanel to promote the movie in any of the major fashion magazines. This movie was about three different Angels from different backgrounds but, I only really saw the media focus on Kristen alone and that didn't help things either.
