I think part of that had to do with Renee having someone whereas Charlie didn't. At the time leaving Charlie meant leaving him alone.

That's true. I wished they showed the pic from the companion of Charlie and Renee holding hands with her arm with Phil when Edward and Bella leave the wedding. I just love the way Bella describes that moment in the book - as different kinds of love in one moment. I love how at the end of BD, she realizes Charlie does have someone.

I think he didn't exactly dislike Edward, more hating his daughter in pain after he left. Any father would hate that really.

He seemed more protective than Renee did even. I wonder if because Charlie's in the saga more, that's why he seemed like the better parent. But he always seemed like it to me

Renee wasn't really around dating Bella much...but yeah she definitely did seem more easy going and whatever when it came to the marriage and everything

And Bella always thought she seemed more like the parent in that situation. With her and Charlie, it was just a natural father/daughter relationship
