I really like the Ricky flashback though that particular scene had me curious- why did they include that one? Did Ricky end up turning around and looking at Amy because he wouldn't have seen her from that way anyways?

Well, in my head, as Ricky walked away from Amy he looked back at her. Hence, using that as a flashback.

And they couldn't use the hair tuck from the Pilot. I just watched the episode, Ricky was kind of a douche in the scene with his cocky attitude and Amy looked sort of afraid of him.

Exactly!! especially since he only saw amy..it wasn't him being the player that he was towards amy, it was just her standing there!

At first when I saw the flashback I was like

and then I started thinking that he had obviously turned around to remember her expression. That look on her face as he walked away was probably engraved in his brain and that's why he wanted to change things between them because he did have feelings for her but he couldn't be the guy that he knew she wanted.

Some said in the RAJ thread that maybe after the flashback he turned around and started to practice his speech imagining Amy standing there.
