I thought they'd rearrange it or something since they found out they were getting cancelled, but what the hell? that felt like there were so many loose ends

was ricky's voiceover in the credits the same as what he said to amy before - "if you love someone set them free" ?

Yep, that's what I said signaled to me that the ending had more to do with a possible future Ramy than any other pairing. He was setting her free hoping she would come back loving him as much as he supposedly loves her. Not sure poor Ricky even has a clue if he is or isn't in love, and Amy from the time she told Nora, has always doubted that Ricky was with her for any other reason than for John. Like she said, 'sometimes she looked at him and found it hard to believe he looked back at her the same way.' Maybe she just found it unbelievable that the guy that every girl wanted really wanted her for herself and not just because she was the mother of his child. They both just need to grow up, hopefully remaining friends whilst maturing and raising John, and then give this another shot once Amy has gained more self confidence and direction having set off to NY by herself.

It's really a shame though, I've been on other sites and I've seen some articles and the majority of the audience hated the finale. There were no actual ending or closure and people are pissed. I saw a of lot comments about this being worst series finale of any show they've ever watched and I said the same thing. I feel kind of cheated and it sucks because there's no way to redo any of it. I'll never believe that Ricky & Amy weren't in love with show up until the second half of 4 they were golden and happy. (I don't know how anyone can say that they weren't in love. ) And while I'll always imagine that they found their way back to one another it still doesn't feel like it's enough. But really, did Brenda Hampton expect people to happy with this ending?

I cant believe the finale.

Yep and that's what he told Ethan in the car. He felt like he doesn't give her anything in return which is why he's letting her go and he's hoping she'd come back to him. He had to do it. He had to let her go just like Amy had to explore her worth. It's hard but in the end I think most definitely they'll find their way back to each other. It's all about sacrificing I think. They gave up a lot tbh.

I felt like when Amy said 'After everything we've been through, I feel like we should be madly in love when we get married. I want that for me and I want that for you" that she meant for them getting married to each other not to other people.

Another thing, where do we expect Amy to stay when she does come to visit.. At Ricky's apt or with her dad @ Kathleen's and she only had one suitcase of her stuff.. Surely that wasn't all of it.

But anyway this song explains it best

I was spitting nails when I first saw it and now I'm just calm about it. I've got what I believed to have happened in my mind and watching the final scene with Amy does make me feel better that she like Ricky still hopes to be together in the future.

To me it now makes sense for these lines.

Ricky: If you love someone, set them free. If they come back to you, they're yours.
Ricky to Ethan: I feel like I have nothing to give back to Amy other than her freedom and maybe eventually she'll love me just as much as I love her.
Adrian to Amy: Right guy. Wrong time.

OK, I'll admit, it would have been nice to have had a proper ending. After Amy said her bit about if Ricky were in love with her it would have made all the difference, and "After everything we've been through, I feel like we should be madly in love when we get married." I wish Ricky had just told Amy that he was madly in love with her, but had been too afraid of losing her to admit it even to himself. Then she could have reassured him, they could have had a passionate, loving kiss, and they could have proceeded with their plans in any direction with a better ending for us.
