ABC Family renews 'Teenager'
Network re-ups hit show for second season

ABC Family has reupped its hit series “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” for a second season.
The cabler has ordered 24 additional episodes of “Teenager,” which launched last year to the network’s highest-ever premiere numbers and trounced broadcast network competition including CW’s “Gossip Girl” on numerous occasions.

ABC Family is planning to run the second campaign of the series over the summer.

The ABC Family-produced original drama is exec produced by Brenda Hampton (“7th Heaven”), and stars Shailene Woodley (“The OC”) as a high schooler dealing with complex relationship issues including teen pregnancy. Molly Ringwald plays her mom.

The series is currently in the second half of its 23-episode first season. The current campaign ends March 23.

Inspired by the “Teenager’s” exceptionally strong perf among girls and young women -- it ranks as one of the top programs on all of TV among females 12-34, averaging 2.1 million viewers in that demo -- ABC Family has recently greenlit several femme-targeted series.

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment's announcement for The Secret Life of the American Teenager- Season 2 on DVD. Scheduled for release on June 16th. While this stuff really isn't news-per say, I was just looking back at our Lancer Year book and our old threads and thought I would bring some of the posts over just to reminise. We've come a long way since our request board and our boards in the Television room.

I saw a commercial for this during Greek and i think it looks fantastic! It reminds me a lot of 7th heaven but with 3 separated storylines and not just one big family.. Also, molly ringwald is the mom in it! ha...

I think it will definitely be a little more adult and slightly edgier than 7th heaven.. Also, you know what else i realized, the main girl is Shailene Woodley and used to be in The OC... I think this cast looks great, I think this will be similar to Greek where ABC Family took a group of relative no names and turned them into big stars

Don't plan on pre-ordering "Season 2" but I definately plan on getting it the day it comes out. I remember I did that with "Season 1" and it was so fun! Had to go to 3 places just to find it!

so on the DVD its being called season 2, but the season they're filming now, they're calling season 2, too? I'm gettin' confussseedddd.

FlightlessBird: The season they are filming is officially called season 2. It's the network that has called part 1 of season 1 as season 1. And part 2 of season 1 as season 2. (It can be very confusing).
