Hee! Good luck.
If I were to fly to London to meet someone for coffee then you can say "all that way for coffee?" |

The problem is I don't want to do it during the week either. Somebody should just take away my laptop.

Aww. Use your laptop as a reward. *kiss* study for an hour and then come online for a bit.

Had a lovely afternoon out with my pal in London , we caught a bit of the Lord Mayor's show, so we watched the floats go by, staying there for nearly an hour I think, the we had a walk to The Pub

Today I read about anti-feminism in Joss Whedon's shows and I made shortbread cookies. Well mostly, they had to chill- I'm about to go out to the kitchen to pop them into the oven. |

They are good.
Actually the one main piece I read wasn't good- the author is a radical feminist but rather than discuss things rationally with people who disagreed with her she deleted comments and made snide replies. Someone replied that the radical definition of rape was offensive and she replied that this was the place to discuss Firefly and its shortcomings. Another person said something like "I know you hate my sex but as a male may I say..." and she told him she didn't hate his sex but his gender and that if he didn't know the difference he shouldn't waste space on her blog. She also made some faulty arguments within the article itself, such as questioning why a black woman (I'm sorry, I don't remember her name) would call Mal "sir"- mentioning she rolled her eyes at this and thought that the show's not off to a great start- but the thing is they were a part of a military, fighting in a war, then they went on to get a ship which he captained; "sir" is a title that everyone used. There were some good points made across the board though, such as the questionable canonical pairings: River was emotionally fragile and childlike- this Jayne/River thing is pretty skeevy. Mal kept disrespecting Inara which had me not-at-all convinced they'd make a good pairing. Clearly there's always room for improvement, like let's switch things around, what if it were Simon who was experimented on/became fragile? And what if River were a doctor? would we be seeing so much Kaylee/Simon as we did in reality? A good point was made in the same article asking what would happen if we switched River and Simon, and that is "She’s the idealized woman in many ways: graceful, fragile, classically Hollywood beautiful. But she’s also unpredictable and extremely dangerous, a metaphor for the violent mood swings women are supposedly subject to, and she feels almost like an object in many of the episodes, not a person." TL;DR: most of the information I found was from a self-admitted man-hating woman who has issues with heterosexual and mixed-race couples who could not see past her own biases to write a proper piece. She is the kind of feminist that scares people off of feminism. |

Exactly, it's good to hear both sides of the argument before making judgement..
