Ray: "Does he know you're taking the Quattro?"
Alex: "I'm sure I told him, yeah."
Ray: "He won't like it."
Alex: "Listen, Ray, this could possibly be the most important day of my life. OK? I need a decent set of wheels."
Ray: "Right. Where to?"
Alex: "We're off to a rally."
Season 1 Episode 8

(Alex and Ray are sitting in the Quattro, observing the Gay Pride Rally through binoculars. A pink tank rumbles by emblazoned with Gay Pride slogans.)
Alex: "Uncle Angus. Where's the car? Oh, there you are."
Ray: "Give us a shifty."
(Alex hands over the binoculars to Ray.)
Ray: "Oh, no."
Alex: "What?"
Ray: "Bloody Tom Robinson."
Alex: "Who?
Ray: "Tom Robinson. You know (singing) # 2, 4, 6, 8, never too late, me and my radio truckin' on... "
Alex: "Mmmm, I remember that."
Ray: (singing) "# 3, 5, 7, 9 on a double white line. Motorway sun coming up with the morning light."
Alex: "Yeah, all right, Ray. All right, I get the picture."
Ray: "I went out and bought that record. I'd no idea a poof had made it.
I mean it's a man's record about driving. If you want to make poof music, you should dress up as a red Indian or a builder. I mean people get that. But to sing about motorways and be a-"
Alex: "Ray! Please. Shut up. We could impound the car. That would stop you borrowing it. But it's a bit imprecise, isn't it?"
(Alex has a brainwave)
Alex: "I am so sorry, Uncle."
Ray: "Hey, where are you going?

Alex: "Are you feeling valiant, Raymond?"
Ray: "Valiant"
Alex: "Mmm. Courageous. Gallant. Brave"
Ray: "I know what it means"
(Alex indicates he should follow her)
Alex: "Just need some cocaine"
(Alex and Ray approach the Price's house.)
Ray: "Look at these houses. Bloody champagne socialists."
Alex: "Listen, don't take any nonsense from them, all right? Just cuff them and get them straight into the car."
Ray: "Hey, I know how to arrest people."
(Alex goes to retrieve the door key from under the tortoise in the front garden while Ray charges up the steps to the front door.)
Alex: "What you doing now?"
Ray: "Gonna kick the door in."
Alex: "Oh, that's a good idea. Why not just use the key?"
(Alex opens the door and she and Ray enter.)

Alex: "If anybody wants me, I'll be at the morgue. Want to find out exactly what Jed Wicklow had in his system."
Ray: "Ma'am? Morgue's a waste of time. Body never even got there. Gypsy Creams nicked it. Dead suspicious, if you ask me."
Alex: "Not asking you, Ray."

Ray: "Is that what you two have been doing in here? Plotting against a senior officer?"
Alex: "A corrupt senior officer."
Ray: "That man's got more decency and courage in his little finger than you'll ever have!"
Alex: "Your loyalty does you credit, Ray."
Ray: "Don't you bloody patronise me."
Season 2 Episode 4

(CID. Ray approaches Alex at her desk. )
Ray: "You know this thing you do? This psychic stuff?
Alex: "Psychological profiling?
Ray: "Yeah, that. I don't really get it.
Alex: You really want to know, or you just going to take the piss?
Ray: Yeah, yeah, yeah, go on.
Alex: All right. Well, er, it's about looking for behaviour that might provide an indication of character.
Like looking at the crime scene, trying to see if any of the details provide a clue as to the kind of person who might have done it.
Ray: Like Colin's car, right?
Alex: Mmm-hmm.
(Ray produces a photograph of the interior of Colin Mitchell's car. )
Ray: I mean it might be nothing, but if I wanted to off someone, I wouldn't put the body in the passenger seat.
Alex: No. You'd put it in the boot.
Ray: Yeah. Otherwise some plod could just come along and, you know, you'd be done for.
Alex: So the kind of person who did this...
Ray: Amateurs.
Alex: Or... they couldn't face putting Colin in the boot.
Ray: He'd be a dead weight too.
Alex: This blanket's all folded up on itself.
Ray: What, like a pillow or something?
Alex: Yeah. Exactly like a pillow. So the kind of person who did this cared about Colin. Where's the Guv?
Ray: Oh, he's gone out.
Alex: Gone where?
Ray: I dunno. Just out.

Alex: "You didn't go anywhere near those twins, did you, Ray?"
Ray: "Yeah, I did."
Alex: "No, you didn't. You've got a tell. You stroke that 'tache when you lie."
Ray: "No, I don't."
Alex: "Yes, you do."
Season 3 Episode 2

(Top of a fire escape or metal stairs of some sort, presumably on the police station. Ray is leaning on the railing, brooding. There's a lot of that going about this series.)
Alex: "You OK, Ray?"
Ray: "Yeah. Come up here to breathe sometimes. Feel like I'm choking."
Alex: "That was a brave thing you did back there. Arresting him. Was tough."
Ray: "Yeah?"
Alex: "Took guts. You remember I said as you ran into the fire, you had a look in your eye?"
Ray: "Yeah, I was bricking it."
Alex: "No, something else. It was the strangest look."
Ray: "Go on then, I'm all agog."
Alex: "It was hope. Desperate hope."
Ray: "For what?"
Alex: "Going into that fire was not just about helping the woman who was trapped. It was going to help you, too."
Ray: "How's it helping me?"
Alex: "I don't know, Ray. But whatever it is that you're holding onto, you have to let it go. Because it's just going to keep on eating you up, in there."
Ray: "Nothing eats away at these guts, Drake."

(Outside the house, and Alex, Ray and Chris lean on the Quattro and watch uniform take Andy Smith away.)
Chris: "How did you know he was going to give you the lighter?"
Ray: "I didn't."
Alex: "And?"
Ray: "Just played up to him, you know? Tried to connect with him."
Alex: "Yeah. Yeah, everybody knows that."
(Alex isn't buying.)
Alex: "So?"
(Ray unexpectedly leans over and kisses her on the cheek)
Ray: "And if you tell anybody, I'll put itching powder down your knickers for a month. You'll be praying for a dose of the clap, just to take the heat away!"
Gene: "Ray! Ars off the Quattro."
(Ray laughs.)

for this. i have really liked how there relationship has subtly changed. Ray seems to have more respect for her. Like he told Gene she is there pain in the arse

nice way to pimp it out. What did Ray say about Alex in 2x08? He stuck up for her to Gene in a way, a reversal of roles from where they were in 1x01.
