I don't think there will ever be another character like Peter Bishop for Josh - or for anyone else.

Oh I know, Peter was such a clever, sexy and funny character.

JJ really knew what he was doing when he cast Josh for the part. A perfect fit.

And if I recall, Josh was actually auditioning for the Star Trek movie for JJ Abrams when, although he didn't get the part of Captain Kirk, he did make enough of an impression for Abrams to cast him in Fringe.

I knew Josh had auditioned for Star Trek, but I did not know he got noticed for Peter because of it. That is cool.

Josh reckoned that, but JJ later said he remembered Josh from the Felicity/Dawsons Creek days when they would all attend the same parties and he saw Josh there, where he made the right sort of impression on JJ. Who knows, it could have been a bit of both. The fact is they waited til the last minute for Josh as they really wanted him for Peter. (according the Bob Orci in his diary of the Fringe Pilot).

Thanks for that bit of info. I may have heard some of that before, but I did forget the part of JJ knowing him from his DC days.

Yes, because JJ Abrams was producer of Felicity for the WB Network.

Whatever the reason we're all glad that Josh played Peter.

I never watched Felicity, so I did forget that JJ Abrams produced that, but I remember now.

I'd never even heard of Felicity until it was mentioned in a JJ interview at the beginning of Fringe.

I often thought I'd like to watch it. If it were on Netflix, I might have tried it out.

Looking forward to seeing some Peter when I do a bit of a re-watch. I still think it's his best TV role so far.
