I think no nudity was written into their contracts - except for John! Perhaps a Walter/Nina encounter? or a Walter/Rebecca (from season 2) encounter - not what any of us would have wanted to see! I remember in season 3 Apt6b episode Olivia didn't even remove her coat when she led Peter upstairs!

Why would they have no nudity written into their contracts? Josh was in short shorts and half naked a ton in season 1. It's kind of funny, because usually Anna Torv would have been the one in her underwear, but after the pilot it was all Josh.

I remember John in an interview commenting on the fact that he didn't have a no nudity clause but implied that the others did. His agent thought he wouldn't need one!

John might have been being cheeky! It's not like Anna minds nudity.

Network Television does keep things quite tame when it comes to sex scenes. They have come a long way, but they still don't show the nudity.

Well the fact that it was really cold during a lot of the shooting may have had something to do with it.

They have heaters! Big heaters, lol. They shoot Arrow and Flash in Vancouver, we've gotten to see a lot of those guys' bodies. It could have happened.

I know from interviews with the stars and showrunners that some scenes were changed to indoor from outdoor for the weather, and Josh even joked that he didn't do the scene in the machine without his shirt because of the cold. I think Fringe was more about the different Universes and mad scientists than sexy scenes anyway.

Even if Josh didn't do the Machine scene without his shirt, I still found it extremely sexy.

Also, I prefer the second trip to the machine to the first, I never liked the kicky jumpsuit Massive Dynamic had Peter in.

If I remember rightly the season was made in 2010/11 when Josh was going to do the film of UFO which unfortunately never got off the ground. I think the jumpsuit was a shout out to Jerry Anderson's supermarionation shows where the characters wore similar suits. I too preferred the jeans and long sleeved T shirt than the puppet style jumpsuit!
