No matter how much the writers try to make him liked, the opposite has happened.

Sometimes a show gets a life of it's own and no matter what the makers want from the series, it seems to take it's own path. I hope what I've said makes sense, I'll be interested to see what others think.
It totally makes sense. And this would be the 3rd TV Show where Josh's character may have started out as "second" character and soon became the fan favourite. Of course this doesn't surprise me in the least, he has such an amazing presence.

Well, Josh has great charisma and presence, so tends to own the scene/stage. So many young promising actors have fallen by the way-side since being really popular as child or teenage stars as Josh was with Pacey.

Except Josh hasn't fallen by the way-side. He's still killing it, even if it's only part-time on a show that's on part-time.

When I was 13, I obsessively read everything I could about Dawson's Creek.
Now I'm 31 I get paid to do it, so I think all those hours of avoiding my homework weren't wasted. #paceyscreek

And this one is all about Pacey.

EDIT

I love how this article has a lot of Pacey moments in it or mentions him and the fact that there are a few Pacey vidoes in it.

Oh, ugh, that people article. Okay, ugh, who includes Promicide? if you need heartbreaking in s4, do Pacey's birthday episode.

(Also, Pacey watching Joey isn't creepy now, either.)

I think Promicide was heartbreaking.

Probably a bitter D/J fan (and some refuse to listen to KW's current opinions on the finale and still standing by his decision. It was in 2003, get over it RME) I also agree it's not creepy. Creepy is making a movie about your quick breakup with your four week "girlfriend." I think Promicide and Pacey's birthday episode are both heartbreaking. In the latter, Pacey's whole family are a bunch of aholes who keep putting him down and Promicide, that was a plot driven episode turning Pacey into a one episode moody prick to rush a P/J breakup so D/J can suck face at the end of the season. What a crock of sh.. that episode was.

Which is why I would pick Pacey's birthday over Promicide because Pacey's birthday was the superior episode. Not contrived, not built up out of nowhere.

That is true. Promicide was so out of character for Pacey. And all the things that went wrong for him in that episode were painful.

Promicide was such a bad episode, it did not seem like Pacey at all. I always have to skip it during a re watch.
