I'm watching Cinderella Story, and I really listened to the scenes with Morgan and AJ and what Joey said about them too. I remember when I first watched it, I thought the Morgan/AJ friendship was a shadow of the Joey/Dawson friendship, but it is clearly about Pacey and Joey.
OMGee, I'm at the part where Pacey picks her up. Gotta watch this NOW __________________

I think Morgan/AJ is supposed to be a parallel to Joey and Dawson but Morgan had is the version of Joey who went to France and was able to find herself as a person before they started dating.

The mention of the friendly banter is definitely a reference to Pacey and Joey though.

And the comment about Morgan doing things for AJ in a selfless way is totally Pacey because Dawson was never really selfless. Pacey did a lot for Joey.
