The temperature is very near to freezing and the wind is straight from the arctic. When the wind changes it will get better. Warmer weather is forecast for next week.

We had sparkling wine tonight with our dinner for our anniversary. Going home tomorrow after a lovely break.

The weather is always iffy in the Lake District. It has it's own micro climate so is never the same two days in a row. We went to a national trust property today and walked round a very steep wooded hillside so I was very warm by the end of that. We are sitting in the bar lounge of the hotel at the moment and it is very sedate. Most of the others are older than us or looking very tired 😴 so we are on our 📱 mobiles like a couple of teenagers. :😂

Well I'm home now and back on the old faithful computer. Buddy was so pleased to see us and spent all last night and most of today sitting beside me or on top of me. I don't know how he'll be when we go away for a week! My son said he sat on the window sill looking out for us most of the time we were away. (That's Buddy not my son sitting on the window sill!) I'll post a few pics of where we were when I get them onto tumblr.

Unfortunately most of the daffodils had died off so I took pics of the last two standing.

Have to go to make dinner now as we are going out tonight to see some blue's singer who I have never heard of. Sitting in a very uncomfortable old concert hall for a few hours watching someone I've never heard of is not my favourite way to spend a Saturday night.

Received our holiday tickets today - along with a back-pack each from the holiday company! Only 3 weeks to go now.

The last trip was just a couple of days for our anniversary. This next one is our luxury river cruise down the Danube taking in Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. We booked it last year so it felt very distant until now. After my husband's recent health scare we need to do all these things now while we are still well enough to travel, and get insurance. You just don't know what is round the corner.

When do you leave?

We fly to Germany on June 1st so plenty of time to post before I go. Went out looking for a posh frock today but couldn't find anything. Trousers and tops will have to suffice. Luckily the evening dress code is smart casual, they don't want anyone tripping up over evening gowns and high heels so have requested that we wear sensible footwear while moving between decks and on the city walking tours.
