Hi, sorry to intrude but I too can't seem to access the blog/site? I love behind the scenes tidbits and info so if anyone could copy and paste or at least summarize I'd be grateful.

Ok, here you go

THURSDAY
1:00 a.m. Get off the plane in Vancouver, a full-on zombie. I have dulled my senses with meds so any worries from the day before are magically gone, though I also feel like my brain has been removed from my skull. I make my way to the hotel, familiarize myself with its unattractive, energy-saving room lighting and then fall asleep.

9:30 a.m. wake up, unaware of where I am, or who I am. It dawns on me a few moments later. I am here to be in the new Michael McGowan film, “One Week”. The script highlights all these amazing Canadian landmarks while telling the story of a dude who is told he has one week to live. I think about the fact that I have never acted, and I remember what Richard E. Grant said to me when I asked him for advice once. "Listen and react. That's all there is to it." Somehow at this hour, the words of my idol do not ease me. I putter around the room moving things around.

10:30 a.m. It’s too quiet. Call Mike. We go for coffee and breakfast at Denny’s aka Dennalds. I admit to him I’ve never acted before and don’t speak French. If he is concerned, he does not let it show. He is humble and lovely.

12:00 p.m. Back at the hotel. Mike and I go through my very unattractive hiking clothes and we ixnay the flannel for less typical wilderness atire. He leaves.

12:20 p.m. I go over the lines one more time. The phrase, “if you don’t know them now you’ll never know them” comes to mind, as though I am studying for a high-school exam. I stop working on the lines. I make bad coffee.

1:00 p.m. Nadia calls. It is pissing rain so she goes to get a rainjacket. I think about the campers in my life always ready with tarp. Tarp and fireball whiskey. However, no alcohol today.

1:30 p.m. Holly tells me kd lang has a trick to stretch her tongue to relax it for singing and since I have to sing in this role, I try that for a little while, still convinced gravol and jet lag have seized all the muscles in my body to render me uselss. Greg my producer has just played with KD the night before in NYC. I think about that for a little bit and wonder how it went. She is one of my all-time favourite singers of modern day.

2:00 p.m. Marka and Josie come to do make-up and hair. I am wearing no eyeliner which is strange because eyeliner - strategically applied - is my secret weapon. Stripped of my weapon, I realize that I am playing a hiker and there’s no way I’d be wearing eyeliner on a hike unless I was on Runyon Canyon, strolling through dog piss in Juicy sweats.

2:45 p.m. Board the bus which takes all of us to the park where we are to shoot. Meet Josh Jackson who is playing the lead. I have not seen one episode of Dawson’s Creek, though I have seen him in a few movies. We introduce ourselves. I decide i better get to know him for the benefit of my burgeoning acting skills.

3:00 p.m. We arrive at a park in North Vancouver and our first scene is the morning . We have to work with a dog which is amusing as I am – all allergies aside – a cat person and do not know how to have a conversation with, let alone control a dog. We get through it.

5:00 p.m. Cast and crew literally take over a beautiful bridge in the park, much to the chagrin and/or fascination of joggers, hikers and mountain bikers. We shoot what is the last scene in our sequence together, which is strange because it implies we are already supposed to know each other and have spent time together. The rain comes down. We keep shooting.

7:00 p.m. At this point in the day, on a movie set, the meal is called “lunch”. The cast and crew go for Greek, I order a non-greek dish which I admit is like “ordering a burger at a sushi restaurant”. The temperature is dropping, the rain subsides.

8:30 p.m. Josh is dying of a cold, but it somehow works with his character who is dying in the film. I am sure that by sharing a 9 minute scene with him, I am going to get his real-life disease. Only time will tell. The propane-fueled campfire is lit, and stays lit for several hours.

FRIDAY
12:30 a.m. Past midnight and we are still shooting. Both Josh and I have been consistently forgetting lyrics to the French-Canadian folk song we have to sing in our scene, but time has somehow flown. I can’t believe the resilience of people who work on movies – actors and crew – they just keep going in the narliest of conditions. If musicians had to work this way, we’d be winge-ing our way through it, probably drunk or unruly, spiralling towards career suicide. Or just suicide.

2:00 a.m. Finally we are done and again I am left wondering how actors do it – long crazy hours of being in a neverland. Mike however is a fantastic director and it was great to work with him on the role. It also helped that Josh was patient with the non-actor that I am. He even went as far as dissecting a glossary of film terms throughout the day. “hold the roll” for example, has nothing to do with having a tender moment with bread.

2:45 a.m. Get back to the hotel room and decide, f--- it. I have to leave in about 2 hours, I’m STAYING UP. Email. Bath. Pack.

5:00 a.m. The airport shuttle comes, and before long I am at the Vancouver airport, a walking zombie yet AGAIN. Regretting plan to stay up.

7:00 a.m. Board the plane and fall asleep to the sound of talkative babies, chatty humans and the roar of the jet engine.

2:30 p.m. Arrive in Toronto. Get on the 401 in search of espresso and the road home. Quietly relieved to have risen to the challenge of being in a film, but also taking great comfort in hearing rough mixes from my new record – like coming home.

Oh, I don't know about that, Katie. Sometimes singing with a cold gives you a deep, resonant, sexy tone!! Remember Phoebe from "Friends"?

As long as the phlem doesn't choke you, as you're coughing every 5 seconds,
as you're trying to get the words out....LOL...

Hmmm. Try as I might, I cannot access that site/blog. I could not access it the last time either. Mandy, is there any way you can post the pictures on your site?

Well, they're not my photos to show. But here they are from the blog:

Joshua Jackson, humouring me - the non-actor.

Me in outdated hiking gear. Josh on meds. Photoz by Josie Stewart.
