Thought of our beloved Katie yesterday whilst watching Springsteen at the inauguration concert thingy!

When Obama was elected back in November, Janet sent me an email with some amazing photos on it. In honour of tomorrows big event I'm posting one of my faves. (Just spent 5 minutes looking at all the pics and couldn't decide on my fave but I do love this one!)

Aw, poor Katie would have loved that performance. She saw it anyway -- I just know it -- from the best seat in the house!

Had the worst day yesterday. Spent four hours in a hospital waiting room in such intense pain from a kidney stone, I believe. Never got to see a doctor, but got to pee in the container, thought I saw the tell-tale thing, then told them I was leaving (thank-you-veddy-much). Totally saved the $50 buck copay!! LOL!!

Ooooh, I've heard kidney stones are soooo painful, poor you. Are you feeling better today?

I'm sick of waking in the night with my cough. I cough, wake up, get up, cough for about 5 minutes and then I'm wide awake and up for about 2 hours. It happened at 1am this morning, I'd only been in bed fo 2 hours!!! Whats that all about??

My son and I have the same annoying, exasperating cough. And once you're up, you're up.

As for the kidney stones, oh yeah, I'm feeling fine. Once you pass the stone you're practically right back to normal! It's weird. It's not just the constant, worsening pain as the stone moves, it's the frequent urge to "go", only to provide a trickle! I swear I'd rather give birth 50 times over without medication in my living room than pass a kidney stone again. At least with labor contractions you get relief from the pain between contractions. With stones it stays and grows and worsens and never lets up till it has passed.

Sorry for all those of you out there who are queasy about such medical things...

The cold has gone its, as Donna said, the annoying exasperating cough. Actually its feeling more like my asthma than anything else now, I'm very wheezy. But the good news is I slept through all of last night (well I woke up at 3 had a little cough but didn't get up and managed to get straight back to sleep) and I feel much perkier today.
I'm stopping over at my friends house on Friday night so hope it eases off by then.

The inauguration yesterday was very moving. I think the outpouring of love, support and most of all hope was very touching. I must admit I had a tear in my eye.

I was at the tire center getting a flat fixed during the inauguration. It was actually kinda neat because even the mechanics came into the waiting room to watch it on the tv. It was really nice sitting there watching it with a bunch of really cute guys...greasy..dirty...sexy young guys.

It makes that memory so much more visceral.

It's Friday...the Friday before the one-year anniversary of the passing of my father on 1/26. Here is my pic for fave photo Friday. This is my dad on Christmas day a month before. It's hard to believe that we've been a year without him. I miss you Daddy.

I know. I can hardly believe it either. That night is such a vivid memory for me. Like it was just yesterday. It's a good thing I've been so busy recently. Keeps my mind busy too.
