| I hopped on POTL yesterday and read some fics that I haven't read in years. I even came across some post's that I made. Is it wrong that my own post's cracked me up? Man, I was funny back then.__________________ "In the presence of certain people, I feel generous or envious or lust and in the presence of nature I feel at peace."...Americano | |||

| Losing your sense of humour is a side effect of turning 40! I'll be away this weekend so you can expect some new Josh snaps. My friend is getting married on Sunday in the beautiful Lake District of northern England. Its going to be cold up there though so I'm off to dig out my Ugg boots from their summer storage. __________________ Avatar by Merica ![]() You must be the change you want to see in the world. - Mahatma Gandhi | |||

| Aaah, the Lake District. One of my favourite places in England. It's just beautiful and I love, love love it. Have a great time Suzi, and you will have to tell me where they held the wedding. | |||

| Obsessed Fan ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well fellow posters, it looks like I'll be out of commission for a few weeks. My family and I are moving and we have to wait before we can settle in our new home. I'll be able to check in once in a while, but I'll have a substitute mod fill in for me till about mid-August. Be good. Watch your manners. I WILL be checking up on you, maybe when you least expect it. And wish me luck with this new chapter in our lives. Thanks all! | Moves, are not the most enjoyable things to have to do. So, heres hoping you have a good move Donna and that all your stuff arrives in one piece. Hope you settle in well and that you and your family enjoy your new home. Having had alot of experience with this, just give yourself time to settle/adjust. (Though you probably already know that). | |||

| Good luck with the move Donna. Looking forward to seeing some pics once you've settled in. Take care and try not to miss us too much. ![]() The wedding I went to was at a place called Armathwaite Hall on Bassenthwaite lake. It was a truly beautiful setting for a wedding and the sun shone brightly for the big day. In fact taking my Ugg boots was great as it insured warmth and sunshine for most of the weekend. As a child I spent alot of time in the Lakes and it was nice to go on a girly weekend away and rediscover them. __________________ Avatar by Merica ![]() You must be the change you want to see in the world. - Mahatma Gandhi | |||

| Glad to hear that you had a good time Suzi. I'm not familiar with that part of the Lake District. Mind you it has been years since I have been there and am probably having a brain drain. I've visited the area quite a few times, on various different holidays and tried to see different parts each time. Truly beautiful area of England and loved the Beatrix Potter museum. Loved those books as a child. | |||

| You were probably more based around the South Lakes and Windermere in particular when you visited. We were in the north Lakes around Keswick. Right, need to drag myself away from the computer and do something constructive with my life! Jake is coming round to visit later as its his dads birthday! Then tonight its off to Ikea again!!! I'm thinking we should just move in there, it would make life alot easier! __________________ Avatar by Merica ![]() You must be the change you want to see in the world. - Mahatma Gandhi | |||

| I think I'm going to have to actually start looking for a job. We've had some things come up lately that requires actual cash. I don't think I can put it off anymore. How does one actually convince an employer to hire me. I haven't worked in 8 years and my brain has officially turned to mush during my extended maternity leave. Are there jobs that require me to work from home on my computer surfing the net and talking to my online friends for extended periods of time? Because I would totally be qualified for that! __________________ "In the presence of certain people, I feel generous or envious or lust and in the presence of nature I feel at peace."...Americano | |||

| Wish you all the best Janet in your endeavour. Know how you feel, I've been out of the workforce for awhile too, and also looking to maybe go back. The thing is I don't know what I want to do. I'm not interested in doing my old occupation anymore, so looking for something different. I just don't know what. ETA: I did go near Keswick, I think Suzi. I visited Wordsworth's museum at a small place passed Keswick, I think if I remember correctly. However, didn't go up from there though, but back down towards Windermere. Didn't actually stop in Keswick though. I'm jealous that you get to visit Ikea all the time. We don't have one near me, unfortunately. I have to go to Sydney, which is three hours away. A bit too far. I'm always having severe Ikea withdrawals, because I love the place. Last edited by aussiechic : 08-10-2009 at 07:47 PM. | |||

| I love Ikea too but would be glad if I didn't have to step into the place for a good few months now. Guest bedroom is all finished though, must get some pics up. First occupant will be my dad who is coming over from Brisbane on Sept 7th for 10 days. Good luck with the job hunting Janet. I can't imagine having to start looking for a new job from scratch, especially if its not what you were doing before. What about that real estate idea you had a while back, you'd be fab at that? I mean, you already know most the houses for sale in your area. ![]() Off to see U2 in concert tomorrow night, woo hoo!! It'll be the 4th time I've seen them live. __________________ Avatar by Merica ![]() You must be the change you want to see in the world. - Mahatma Gandhi | |||

| I did look into real estate. Even met with a local realtor here. She was very helpful and said she was looking for someone to take over her client list in a few years so she can retire. But the house market is horrible right now and I see no end in sight. House's are not selling at all right now and that would mean a lot of money out of pocket without any sale in sight. I'm just going to look for a part time job or take in a kid or two for daycare. I'm scared to say the daycare thing would work best for me and my family though. I don't know how parents with full time jobs juggle the whole kid/job thing. My kids are sick a lot during school and the nearest grandparents are 30 miles away, so I would also have to call in sick to my job...we're screwed. __________________ "In the presence of certain people, I feel generous or envious or lust and in the presence of nature I feel at peace."...Americano | |||

| You'd be great at daycare, kids would just love your land and horses/pets in general. Can't believe I've only got 2 and a half weeks left off work, where has the time gone this summer? Have spent most of this week hanging out with baby Jake or friends. Had a lovely couple of hours by the Thames yesterday afternoon with my friend. We sat in the sun and drank pints and put the world to rights!! Bliss. Right, I really need to do something constructive with my day. So far I've slobbed around in my pjs reading my book. Its 1pm now and the sun is shining so I should maybe get dressed and venture outside! __________________ Avatar by Merica ![]() You must be the change you want to see in the world. - Mahatma Gandhi | |||
