I have some sad news to report to you. I have just now learned that a dear co-poster, Katherine Napolitano, known as KatieNap, has passed away. I was given permission by her daughter to tell you that she died Friday, December 5th at 2:00 a.m. in New York after a year-long and very hard-fought battle with lung cancer (although she was a non-smoker).

She became a fast and dear friend to me, both on the board and off. And although I'd never met her, we spoke on the phone very frequently, and she was like an older sister to me. Known by her family and friends as Kathy, we all knew her as "Katie". And even though she hadn't really posted much in the past few weeks as she had been in and out of the hospital of late, she was known for her spot-on Dawson's Creek analyses, her total encouragement of Josh (she loved him!), for an abundant use of ellipses (...) and smilie icons, and I think most especially for making many friends online here at the Josh Board.

Anyone who knew her always knew where they stood with her, and most were sure to read her posts with a knowing smile, or a stitch in their side from all the laughter, or wiping away a tear with the connection to our humanity.

I just want all of you to know how much she loved you, loved this board and loved and appreciated Josh Jackson.

I can't believe she's gone. She will be very much missed. Rest in peace, Katie.

Wow. There are just no words. Thanks for telling us Donna.

I always loved reading her posts and always appreciated her zest for life and her positiveness.

My prayers go out to her family during this hard time. Katie, May you rest in peace.

I just joined the board a few weeks ago and didn't have the privilege to get to know Katie but I understand she was very much loved here.

So I join you in remembering her and sending my prayers for her family and friends.

What a beautiful tribute, Janet. Very fitting. Our KatieKat... I never will forget her and I'm going to miss her a lot.

And for anyone who is relatively new here and never got to know Katie, really, go back to some old discussion threads. She really knew how to deconstruct a scene or an episode or even an entire Josh film! And so succintly, there was nothing left for any of us to say!

And she loved pictorial deconstruction too. She knew how to find the right cap that defined a Pacey/Joey scene, or what Earl was all about from "Lone Star State of Mind". Her favourite Josh movie was "Americano". She found more levels of true humanity in that movie than I think even the director did!

Her passing certainly is leaving a huge hole here. A big loss. *heavy sigh*
