Such crazy news about Michael Jackson. Didn't think I'd see him pass away at 50.

I was very shocked to receive the news of Michael Jacksons death! Even though in recent years he had gone totally and utterly bonkers there was no denying he was a very talented singer back in the day. I feel very priviledged to have seen him in concert twice (both times on his Dangerous tour) and to witness him in action near the peak of his career.

Farrah Fawcetts passing is also very sad. 62 is still very young.

I've just returned this afternoon from my week on school journey. We had an absolutely fantastic time but it was unbelievably tiring. They were on the whole very well behaved but such a bunch of whingers. I constantly had children coming up to me with complaints of aches, pains, cuts, bruises, tummy aches, headaches, sore eyes, the list continues.
I'm now trying to recoup some energy for my weekend of gigs. I'll be having a little boogie on Katies behalf on Sunday evening when Bruce comes on stage!

I'm surprised by all the deaths, one right after another: Ed McMahon, Farrah Fawcett, Michael Jackson, Fred Travalena and now Billy Mays. Cannot believe this awful streak.

(And Bernie Madoff might as well be dead; he got a 150-year sentence!)

Well it appears I've managed not to catch swine flu from the school journey last week.

Enjoyed the gigs at the weekend despite being absloutely shattered. Thank goodness I've got Friday off work. Got a bit emotional during Bruce whilst thinking of Katie. New music tips are look out for Priscilla Ahn, Joshua Radin and The Gaslight Anthem.
This weekend I'm off to see Take That on Saturday (with Lady GaGa as support) and then its my sisters baby shower on Sunday!

No vacation for us this year, new windows are going to cost us $13,000!!! And we came very close to booking flights to Chicago!

Is that a 'gasp, choke...blink' because you think they are expensive or cheap? I'm getting wildly varying responses to my canvassing of opinion on the price of new windows! We've got another company coming round tomorrow so we've got a second quote.

England is melting! Its been sooooo hot here over the past few weeks. Thank goodness my classroom has aircon! Only 3 weeks of school left. Woo hoo!
We are looking to try and book cheap vacation but if we don't at least I've got a friends wedding to look forward to as well as the U2 gig and of course becoming an aunty!

Très expensivo!!! How many windows do you have? And how big are they?

Perhaps it's not such a big deal if the estimate is commensurate with huge English salaries of which I am completely ignorant. I'm not hinting, I'm just reacting!

Well the second quote we got this evening was for about a third more than the first!!!! It does seem to be much more expensive for most things over here especially in London and the South East. If you think that our small 3 bed house with no pool, cellar, laundry room and the smallest garden in the world was over half a million dollars it puts it in perspective!!!

Still melting here!

Hope you all had a good 4th of July! I had some English fun on your behalf at the Take That gig. They were absolutely amazing, not many gigs were the band ride on a giant elephant to the main stage!!!

Pic from my sisters camera!

Thats just crazy!

We had a good weekend. We took the kids to their first rodeo and they had a really good time. After the fireworks display as we were leaving the rodeo grounds both kids looked up at us and said it was the best Forth of July ever! Isn't that just sweet. Made the 45 minutes getting out of the parking lot worth it.

Bless their little cotton socks and there you are moaning about them on the TPBM thread!!! I really want to go to a rodeo. We were going to go to one in Buffalo, WY but we thought we would stick out like sore thumbs! We need a genuine cowgirl to go with!

So we've just committed ourselves to getting our new windows and front door this evening. They'll be installed in about 10 weeks time. Its very sad but I'm really looking forward to having them put in, our current windows are crap! The downside to spending all that money on windows though is our vacation fund has taken a very serious hit! We are looking at 10 night European beach resorts! Really not my cup of tea but better than no vacation at all.

At least you can go aon vacation. My vacation will be a 1 week stay at my brothers house this year.

As for the costs of a house. There's always sth. that needs to be rebuild, builded from scratch or just total re-arrangement like our garden. Two years of bulldozers, caterpillers, burned down wood etc didn't do anything good to it. The girls aren't allowed to play there. So we have 700 m² ground and no place to put a sandbox at all. It's just getting on me nerves to show up at my (really) lovlely neighbours all the time to 'share' theirs. /end rant

I'm not sure if I can escape the MJ coverage tonight at all. Maybe I just sit through it. Or read Twilight again.

suzi - How's your sister doing? Hope she's well. Tell me more about the Take That concert, please. I've never been able to go to one myself....
