We call it soccer in Canada, too. I don't know where the heck that word came from!

Disney was very jam-packed this year. Last year (Spring Break going right into Easter) it was so easy to get around and get on the rides. Magic Kingdom was great, though. I got to do all new stuff without repeating anything from last year. But in general we were disappointed this time. We decided we weren't going to rush around and get up early, but that's not the way to handle Disney. You've got to plan, plan, plan, and we didn't, didn't, didn't. We stayed at the resort for the last 2 days and even came back a day early.

We thought we'd try again in the fall when the kids' new schools get a fall break, and no one'll be there. We have 10-day passes and only used 3 days last year, 3 days this year -- so we still have 4 days left!

OMG. I'm still wiping away the tears. I just caught Susan Boyle's performance on "Britain's Got Talent". Incredible. Whoo, and there I go again. *sniffs, wipes*

My skin isn't pale!!!! I've just put fake tan on!!!

Donna - Is she the burlesque dancer who stripped down to the nipple tassles? Edited- I know who she is now, the woman with the caterpillar eyebrows.

Last weekend of freedom before I return to work. Its only 6 weeks until we fly to Provence though which will keep me going through the next half a term. Had a lovely night out with the girls from work, drank alot of red wine and didn't get out of bed until 11.45 this morning, bliss!!!

Yeah, the lady with the caterpillar eyebrows. I don't think a stripper would necessarily make me all teary-eyed.

Suzi, I'm confused by your work schedule: you seem to have all kinds of mini-breaks. How long is your longest break? Do you get the summers off like our teachers do here?

The nipple tassle lady would've had the tears of laughter rolling down your cheeks!!! I don't watch the show so have only read news articles about them.

We have 13 weeks holiday a year, they comprise of 2 weeks at Christmas and 2 weeks at Easter, 6 weeks over the summer and then 3 half term breaks of a week in February, May and October. It means the kids are not at school for more than 7 weeks at a time before they get a week off.

There are many school districts that are structured similarly in our state. I think the Departments of Education of each county are trying to implement similar revisions to the school year.

I think the education administration believe the kids simply forget too much with 11-12 consecutive weeks off in the summer. That's entirely possible for many of the children: I find the teachers spend the first 9 weeks of the fall terms in total review of the previous year trying to ward off the summer amnesia! What a waste of time and effort.

How do you like the 7-week terms? (Ours are 9-week terms) And how do working parents manage the frequent week-long breaks? It would entail a major re-shuffle here.

The 7 week long half terms are just the right length of time, in fact they are usually 6 weeks and if they run on longer we really start to flag (kids and teachers). 6 weeks over the summer is enough time off in my opinion, I'm usually ready to get back to work after that long (only for about a week though ). Not sure how parents cope with the week long breaks, it would be worse for them if we had a really long summer vacation.

Whew! Finally got back on here. Was frozen out of this site for the last day. Don't know what was going on.

Hope everyone had a nice Mother's Day yesterday. My kids are the best. They always make me feel so special. And my husband was just a gentleman!

Mothers Day in England is always in March but I hope all you "moms" out there had a good day yesterday.

The sun is still shining in England and yesterday I had a lovely time reading and relaxing in the garden. We've been very spoilt so far this year as far as the weather is concerned - our first proper snow for a decade and now a proper spring! Maybe we'll get a decent summer instead of the constant rain we've had for the past 2 years.

H is away on business for a few days. He flew to Copenhagen this morning and this evening has to fly from Copenhagen to Paris. I've got him on high alert for Josh sightings!!!

You've had our rain for the past 2 years! Although we've had the wettest spring in about 4 years. Hopefully our drought alert will be removed this summer.

You can have your rain back if you want! We yearn for a summer with a hose pipe ban!! Our weather has actually taken a turn for the worse over the past few days, the rain is due to arrive tomorrow. Looks like no sun for my birthday on Saturday.

Yeah, that's pretty sad news. Crazy that both he and Kerr are divorcing their wives within a month of each other.

Um, *crickets* where is everyone?
