No, it's because the Ducks are the villains in this series. Just like Cobra Kai series, Johnny is the good guy and Daniel-san is the annoying villain (opposite for The Karate Kid narrative.)

Yeah. I'm guessing Bombay is the coach of the scrappy team and probably feels disappointed at how the Ducks turned out. This is why they needed Charlie, dammit!
