I'm lucky I've never had a job that required me to do taxes as the employer's had to do them. My husband had to do expense forms and submit them for tax purposes and I had to do my time sheets and car mileage, which were a pain though.

Um interesting - we have to put in our tax return each year in Australia - I suppose it is different than some other countries where you don't pay taxes on your income each week (taken out by your employer) and you have to do that yourself

We pay taxes but if you are employed in PAYE (pay as you earn scheme) it is done automatically with the Inland Revenue(if that is still it's name - government departments keep giving themselves fancy new titles). Self employed and non-employed people have to do their own tax forms.

Self employed do it here but not non-employed the government sorts out theirs

By non employed I mean rich people who have large private incomes or whatever, not unemployed or stay at home carers.

I get my daddy to do our taxes - my dad use to be an accountant and he does it for me for nothing - I love my dad - it pays to be his little girl

My dad used to love doing things like that too. He wasn't an accountant but used to look after a group of insurance collectors so had to sort their accounts out for them when they made a mess of their books - which happened quite often.

I miss my Dad, he passed away from Cancer in 2004.

As much as I miss him, I think the thing that makes me the most sad is what he is missing in my kids. There was only my sister and I and my sister had two girls, so I had the only boy in the family which would be the only grandson for him and my father would have loved to know and see that my son played Football (Daddy loved football) and now my son is in the Canadian Armed Forces like my Dad. And just recently my son got a Marksmanship Badge during Basic Training, he was the highest in the entire course. Out of the 49 rounds (bullets) he got 47 on Target. My dad would have been so proud.

Anyway, no sadness here, just wishing he could have seen both of my kid's accomplishments.
