Awesome hotels have awesome prices. We are staying in a mid-range hotel through Virgin Holidays. It's part of a package deal with direct flights with Virgin Atlantic from our nearest airport.

There are always deals out there, at least sometimes.

We thought that we had a good deal last year but when we got the final bill we realised that the booking site had failed to factor in the taxes so it turned out a few hundred pounds more than we thought. This time we have booked a package so everything is upfront - even the cab from and to the airport, so no hidden surprises, except of course the lousy exchange rate due to the madness that is Brexit. It's all paid for now so at least I don't have to worry about that. The hotel doesn't include meals but from our last visit we experienced diner's and Irish bars on every corner, so no problems about where to eat.

There is also a lovely restaurant in Central park where we had lunch one day which is really worth a visit. The main problem with getting around NYC are the traffic jams so if possible it is best to walk to the theatres from the hotel if possible. Manhattan is huge so give yourselves plenty of time to get to the theatre, Bianca09.

That all sounds like great advice. I've never been to NYC.

Thanks LWS53.. I will definitely give myself plenty of time... I hear you about the exchange rate I think we just cracked 80 cents for one American dollar.. but since most of my time is in Canada and our dollar is pretty much the same so that’s a bonus....
I think you will be there before me so can you please tell me if the lunch place in Central Park is worth a visit if you go there....
Last time we stayed like a block away from time square it was so crazy but so fun..
Are your seats in the stalls or mezzanine?

(I admit I have been watching the Canadian/US dollar fluctations because I am vacationing in Quebec in January - my future hotel bill has been swinging $30 up and $40 down, woo.)

There's always yelp! to check out reviews of places to eat.

Last time we were in NYC we went to the restaurant in Central Park and it was really good. You really need a whole day to explore Central Park as it is huge and there is a lot to see. This time I don't think we will do Central Park as my son wants to go to Liberty Island and Brooklyn, which will take a whole day respectively.

We are in the Orchestra Center Row L, which is downstairs but not the premium seats.

You are going to Liberty Island. Is that the Redverse or the Blueverse?

I don't expect to see Walternate Bishop there. I think it will be in the blue Universe as the statue will probably be green.

Yeah, but with a little photo shop, you could make a visit to both
