It's a good thing both DC and Fringe are free on Amazon Prime, as I need my JJ fix.
I think he wants to clear his mind about his next tv show, but he might star in good movies in the meantime. After his success in Fringe, given how he increased as an actor and how many good projects are in develoment he wouldn't need to wait 5 years as he did after Dawson's Creek. That times were different 'cause Josh, yes, he was popular after DC, but he was not considered a good actor yet. Fringe gave him the opportunity to grow up fighting the prejudices and proving the skeptics that he is talented. So maybe he wouldn't need to wait so long before a very good project comes for him

Actually he's said before that the lag was because he didn't want to return to TV, he was burnt out on TV after the schedule and hours on DC, and that it would have needed to be something amazing for him to return.

Who knows if he feels the same about TV this time around, but I'm still guessing his next project will be movie.

Exactly. I remember him saying in 2008 that he "just fell into" the Fringe job. Josh wasn't planning on TV. He had a recurring role on Grey's Anatomy in the works, but the Writer's Strike ended that. The big rumor was that he auditioned for Star Trek and JJ Abrams, while he didn't give him Star Trek, was impressed enough to give him his new pilot Fringe.

Totally agree. I imagine he thought it would be ludicrous to turn down an opportunity to work for JJ Abrams, TV or not. Especially once you're in JJ's team of actors, you usually get repeat work.

I keep hearing rumours that John Noble could get a part in JJ Abrams' Star Wars, but it's JOSH I want to get the repeat business!! But, there's no reason not to hire both Josh and John, tho. That would be really ok with me.

That would not be a bad idea

Are you saying that now Josh has the chance to be part of another JJ project?
I also think he prefers to be part of a big screen movie now.

I think it's really strange that Josh hasn't tweeted in almost two weeks, and for some reason i'm thinking, as Jade told me, that he might be really busy working on something. Perhaps.

I don't know anything about what might be coming up for him, but JJ Abrams tends to work with same group of actors over and over, if you've watched any of his other projects you always see familiar faces.

No i didn't watch his other projects but i've been told that Abrams tends to call actors who already worked with him. I hope it's a good sign for Josh!

Here's an old interview as Fringe was getting up and running. He's pretty clear that the script/JJ Abrams were what brought him back to network TV.

Maybe there's another option to put out there: something on cable, where the seasons are shorter.

Shorter quality series. Why not?
I've read that Josh and Abrams met at Disney the first time! And now Abrams is directing the new Star Wars in Disney hands! God, it's destiny...Josh as to be part of the cast!

Did you watch Lost? Saw a number of those actors in Fringe over the years. I wasn't a huge Lost fan, they lost me over the years, but I was addicted to Felicity and Alias, JJ seems to focus on strong women characters, it's awesome.

I love this specific quote by JJ Abrams about Josh from that interview:

Quote:
I've always been a fan and loved his sense of humor and also the gravity that I thought that he could bring to something, even something as soap operatic as the stuff you were doing on the WB. I felt that same way about when I was working with Keri Russell. It's like you find, there are actors, you go, "Okay, they are really good, they elevate the material. They make it better." As a director/writer/producer, all you ever want is to work with actors who make you look better, who make the work you do seem as good as it can be and even better than it is. I always felt that Josh had that ability. I'm thrilled to finally get a chance to work with him.
Josh is such an underrated actor.

It's always fun to go back, now that the series is over, and read about how the creators and showrunners tried to plan the show; how they foresaw what they hoped the show would become. I've never read that interview before, and I had pretty much come to the conclusion that Fringe ended up being a lot different than their original plan. But now, having read JJ's ideas for Fringe in this interview, I think it ended up coming really close to his original concept.

No matter what changes, turns and complete re-hauls they had to take to keep Fringe on the air, they should be proud of that show.
