The OT thread #28 - still talking!

We left off with a discussion on how cold it is but today has actually been kinda mild here in London! Didn't need a coat and at one point I even took off my jumper!!

I still have snapdragons in full bloom in my garden and there's even reports that the infamous SCOTTISH MIDGIES are still flying about as the cold hasn't fully arrived yet.
Up here it's chilly but not really cold that you feel it going into your bones. No doubt in the next few weeks there'll be a NORTH/SOUTH divide with the weather as it'll start to drop here.

We have officially had our first snow here. Elevations very here quite a bit. We had a half inch here at our house, but only rain at the kids school.

Foggy today here in the suburbs but another glorious day in Central London. I'm finally getting stuck into the Christmas shopping now. Bought 3 things today and have 1 thing reserved to collect tomorrow. Had lunch out too which was rather nice. Have got a very sore throat though so I'm glad to be on the sofa in my pjs now.

What has everyone (well everyone living in America) got planned for Thanksgiving?

I imagine that's what I'd be doing too if we celebrated Thanksgiving over here. M now doesn't have to work on Christmas day so I'm guessing it will just be assumed we're going to his family for lunch. Even though I told me parents I'd be going to theirs cause M was working

You could compromise and go to your family as organised and then go to his mums in the evening! I'm stuck with the mil for 7 days again this Christmas!
Bought 2 more presents today. Feel like I'm making a little headway now.

I'd rather to go my parent's at night cause beloved SiL will be at MiL at night! My parents will understand, it's just the principle of the thing.

I haven't even started Christmas shopping yet. I need to find some money to actually buy presents

We're having hubby's family and their accompanying drama up for Thanksgiving. It also happens to be my older son's 15th birthday. Didn't I just give birth to him?

My Dad's already here and he's ready for the show, well at least I've prepared him as best I can. Who knows what'll happen!

Yes, we want a full run down of the family thanksgiving dramas Donna! Hope it's not too bad though!

I've got to head back into work shortly for a meeting! It's going to be a late one.

Not too bad. The house looked beautiful so I was proud of that.

I originally wrote two paragraphs of griping, but you don't want to read about how there were no mashed potatoes or any other crap I wrote. I am blessed. I have 3 incredible children, my Dad staying with me through the holidays and a husband who is behaving so well that we're actually enjoying each other's company 95% of the time. So I'm not going to complain about his mother, sister or father.

I was just so happy to see my older son's face light up when he realized that the gift he wanted was actually inside a double-boxed façade. He just turned 15 (15!!!) today as well, and he had hinted and begged and hoped for RockSmith. He didn't look so well when he unwrapped a shoebox. But we pulled the ol' little-gift-inside-the-huge-box trick, and was he happy! He really didn't think he was going to get it. But he is such a sweet, easy-going, well-adjusted kid that there was NO way I was going to disappoint him. Love that kid to death.

Cousins arrive tomorrow for T-giving II and our yearly game of Soccer-Pain. Only the kids are good at soccer -- we're all old, fat, out of breath and in agony once the game is over. Looking forward to it.

Hubby wants to buy RockSmith for our boy, who doesn't want it because dad wants him to have it...and the cycle begins.
