The movie itself is actually really good, having Josh in it is just a bonus even though his part isn't very big.

Josh may not be in this pic, but the readings have started for his upcoming Play "Children of a Lesser God".

That is his tan bag on the floor, so we know he's there somewhere.

Here is a comment about the Play from last night.

Quote:
He was incredible in this show...to sign the way he does in this play was unbelievable and the other cast members of the show were outstanding....so glad I got to see this. Last night was the first night of previews. It opens tomorrow night
Josh has learned a new language The down side to this is you don't get to hear his voice, but the upside is you get to focus on his hands However, I'm sure he is speaking when he signs so the audience knows what he's saying.

Good for him! I hope we get to see some previews of the play.

Or at the very least some promo pics like the ones we got from Smart People.

I think in the script Josh's character speaks the signed dialogue. Or did in many versions of the show. There are captions, according to the play brochure.

Wow, that's interesting. I wonder if Josh knew any sign language before signing on for the Play. I think he's a quick study, so even if he didn't, he does now and that is awesome. I wish I could speak more than one language or sign for that matter.

One thing I have to say about Josh is he is amazing at showing emotion with just a simple look, so if most of his scenes include sign then I think he's going to be able to set the scene with just his emotion. I wish I could see the Play because I know I would be even more impressed with his talent.

Here's an article about the Play, I haven't read it yet, but will shortly.

Having directed Jackson off-Broadway in "Smart People," Leon was looking for another project for them. Again, Leon said, this seemed an ideal match.

Thanks for the article, it's always good to know how things come about and how the cast is selected.

I'm kind of excited that this will be bound for Broadway and Kenny Leon is Tony winner, so he knows how to cast people which speaks volumes for Josh.

This is Josh's 3rd Play, I find that fascinating.

Bringing this over from the Out and about Thread. It's an interview with Josh and Kenny Leon about Children of a Lesser God.

Thanks for bringing it over - It really offers insight into what the play entails for everyone involved. Really hope I can wangle a trip to Broadway next year. Perhaps a Christmas and birthday present all rolled into one. Hubby may be interested - he did enjoy the film when we saw it.

I love this last sentence from that article.

And Joshua Jackson is in the house. He is currently starring in Showtime’s The Affair and is well-known for his roles in Dawson’s Creek & Fringe

It will be great to see Sandy K's perspective on all the things going on in the play.
