CHILDREN OF A LESSER GOD may be returning to Broadway: Children of a Lesser God Broadway Return Planned for Spring 2018 | Broadway Buzz | Broadway.com

Quote:
Mark Medoff’s 1980 play Children of a Lesser God*to Broadway, according to Tony-winning producer Hal Luftig.*The revival would be a*transfer of a production set to play Berkshire Theatre Group in Stockbridge, MA this summer,*directed by Tony winner Kenny Leon, who in 2014 was announced to direct a Broadway revival of the play.

As previously announced, the BTG production will star Joshua Jackson of TV’s The Affair as James Leeds and former Miss Deaf America Lauren Ridloff in the starring role of Sarah Norman. The MA production, set to run June 22-July 22, will feature Tony winner Stephen Spinella as Mr. Franklin and acclaimed deaf American actor John McGinty as Orin Dennis.

Regarding confirmation of a Broadway transfer, Luftig told Broadway.com, "That is our intention." Luftig confirmed that the stars of the Berkshires production would remain onboard for a Broadway run next season.*"The timeline would be to open on Broadway in spring 2018," said Luftig, a lead producer on*Kinky Boots.
There might even be the potential for a Tony Award given the history.

Quote:
The original Broadway production starred Phyllis Frelich as Sarah Norman and John Rubinstein as James Leeds. Both actors won Tonys for their performances. The screen adaptation received five Academy Award nominations and earned Marlee Matlin the 1987 Oscar for Best Actress for her performance as Sarah Norman

If it does come to Broadway in 2018, that may be the chance of seeing him! If it is in May I may get it as a birthday present! I will have to work on my boys to take me.

I did mention to my hubby wanting to go to see a play on Broadway for my birthday next year - not what it was or who was in it.

Inescapable was on the TV tonight and I managed to see half of it - Josh looked gorgeous in it! I have a copy of it but it's a region 1 and doesn't play very well now.

There's some hope that you might get to see Josh on Broadway. I love how that sounds - Josh on Broadway.

I daren't even consider going to see him at this stage - something will go wrong if I get my hopes up. Josh on Broadway sounds great!

New York Post article about Josh's Play.

A hit ’80s play is coming back to Broadway | New York Post

Quote:
the production will star Joshua Jackson of “Dawson’s Creek” and, more recently, Showtime’s “The Affair,” as the teacher. It would be his Broadway debut

I just watched Shutter. LOVED it. It was all kinds of demented and twisted but that's the way horror flicks go. Josh totally blew. me. away. Damn he's a good actor.

And that is some peak hot Josh in Shutter.

Wow, I guess Josh will be working on the Affair around the Broadway preparation. Maura does a bunch of theater work and she still had a substantial role last season so I am remaining optimistic.

(Even if I was sort of hoping Josh's next role would be one I could see without paying $1300, lol.)

He was pretty sexy in Shutter even if he played a less than desirable guy.

Josh hasn't had a prominent role in a movie in 5 years. I really hope he does another film some point soon....he's too good of an actor not to.

I agree, but I don't see that happening this year with the Play this summer and filming The Affair, he may not want to do anything else or even have time to.

Just watched One Week...beautiful film. The very last still before the credits with the quote on the board will stay with me: "To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

I love One Week. Cruel Intentions was on this evening but I couldn't watch it as we were watching something else on catch up.
